ITunes error-600

I get an error "The application 'iTunes' cannot be launched. -600" Does anyone know what this means? I tried restarting to no avail.

I have had this error once or twice in the past & again recently. It seems to be associated with a bad USB device -- I disconnected my iPod Shuffle then rebooted, and iTunes worked fine. Somewhere else I saw a post about the problem going away when an external drive was ejected. I've just reset my Shuffle to factory settings and hopefully that will solve its problems.

  • ITunes Error -600 (Can't open iTunes) Help!

Tonight I was working with my iPod and iTunes on a Mac; I ejected the iPod, but a static message on iTunes had locked it up. The message was that the iPod was updating. I finally was able to force quit iTunes, but now I cannot open iTunes from the Dock or Finder.
The message I get is: The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -600). Has anyone got a solution? Please?

    Hi Jase,
without beeing pedantic, this is a the itunes for Mac, so you might post your question on the itunes for window,
when you go on itunes and check your purchase history, you have the option to report a problem related to your purchase, ok also i supposed you have quicktime, yes. It will be helpfull if you had in your profile the version of your application itunes 7 or quicktime etc...
the code error seems to be associate with "service unavailable".

ITunes will not open. After a few minutes it gives me error -600. Please help it used to work not sure what happened.
    Thanks, Kristin

I have been having the same problem lately. I have not found a solution yet. I've tried repairing the disk, reparing permissions, using a different user, reinstalling itunes, trashing the .plist, but nothing has worked. After iTunes is launched it immediately becomes unresponsive and will not Force Quit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried installing the videotoolbox.dll file seperately, and looked up just about everything i can find but nothing matches my exact problem or fixes it. When I try to open itunes i get 2 error messages. The first reads:

  • Itunes error

when i try and open itunes on my laptop i keep getting the error message Itunes new library and it wont let me open it. I've tried repairing it on control panel and i've also tried installing a newer version. Nothing works.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Well, I've been the victim of curious and unsolveable iTunes errors, too, but not the same as what you describe. I suspect it had something to do with updating my computer with an external drive/iPod mounted. Or it was just one of those funny little bugs from Apple. You might try backing up, repairing permissions, repairing the start-up volume, and resetting the PRAM.
And if that doesn't work or you already tried that, well... Have a good one!
That's a quote from my favorite cancelled cartoon show, Futurama. Bender says that to Zap Branegan as he is about to get pulled out a breech in the hull into the infinity of space. Seems like it may apply to your situation, too.....

  • Safari 7.0 won't open and gives error -600 (Mavericks)

I found a YouTube video that showed how to prank someone with a script the kills an application every time it's opened. I typed the script in and ran it. It worked for a few seconds. After running the script The Safari icon on the dock was bouncing continuously. I put my macbook to sleep and shortly after woke it back up. The safari icon stopped bouncing but when I try to open safari it does nothing. When I click on Safari in the applications menu in finder it gave the error -600. How do I fix this?

I don't know what the "prank" script did, but if you're lucky, you can solve the problem by rebooting.

  • ITunes update shows runtime error R6034/iTunes error 7/Windows error 1114. iTunes tells me to reinstall but I've uninstalled/restalled and get same error messages.

After iTunes update I see this - Runtime error R6034 "application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly".  ThenUninstalled then I also get iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes error 7 (Windows error 1114).  I've tried fixes for runtime but computer says there are no errors.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and get all the above messages.  Now when I start up my computer the runtime error pops up, but once it is closed computer works fine until I try to open iTunes.  I've even tried a system restore going back to November.  I use iTunes for audiobooks on iPod and I'm going to get desperate soon. Any suggestion?

  • ITunes error message -39

    Hi,
I'm running an eMac 10.3.9, iTunes 6.0.4 and an iPod 30gb photo.
I started having problems a few days before the latest iTunes update came out earlier this week, with iTunes not quitting and it not being able to find the library.
Now with the iTunes update, I get the error message
"the iPod cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-39)"
I have run Disk Warrior 3.0.3 over the disk and the iPod with no change.
I have run Onyx and Yasu to reset permissions, cron etc etc. with no change.
There is no reference to iPod/iTunes error -39 on the Apple website nor in this forum.
I have changed USB ports with no change.
The iPod appears in the iTunes menu and the battery charges. I can also open the iPod disk and work with the contents.
I have reset the iPod with no change. I used the 'hold the central button and Menu at the same time' trick, so could go one step further and delete everything from the iPod and start again.
But that is assuming the problem is with the iPod. If the problem is with iTunes I won't be able to reload all my songs onto the iPod.
    Any hints appreciated.
    Tim
    eMac 1.25gHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Problem resolved by restoring iPod to factory settings and reloading all the songs.
Prior to this I deleted iTunes and downloaded a new version from the Apple site. This did not resolve the error -39 message.
Then I took the plunge and restored the iPod. Works fine now.
I'm posting the fix to help anyone into the future with the same problem.

    Hello tonyb2910,
The following article should be just the thing to put Sync Services down and get your iPhone working smoothly with iTunes again.

  • HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open.  First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

If your problem is only w/iTunes, you really should re-post over in the iTunes for Windows forums instead of the iPod forums.
