ITunes error 7 windows error 14001

i recently installed itunes on my computer, a successful installation actually... no errors. after that itunes didn't run and popped up error 7, as well as itunes helper and every time i boot my windows it pops up... the thing is, not only itunes was affected by the installation- also my music player (ALSong) and firefox wont run anymore (probably more programs, that i didnt spot yet.) and they always pop an error about a side-by-side configuration and ask me to run SXSTrace... anyway i assume that once iTunes is fixed these errors will disappear. i tried completely uninstalling itunes, including a registy cleanup, i uninstalled by order, reinstalled, didnt work... i also run sfc/scannow and no errors too! i practically tried anything i found on the net or other support forums, but nothing seems to work!! i'm banging my head in the wall please help me... i am using windows 7 x64bit, running bootcamp on an iMac. thanks in advance!

Thanks for posting this, zrakks, because I was going crazy with this one. I'm having the same exact issue with the same version, Win7x64, with my taskbar on the left side too. Didn't know THAT was the reason (taskbar on the left). Hopefully they fix this in the next version--this is a pain in the a**!

My computer froze and I had no choice but to turn it off. When I turned it back on, it would no longer open iTunes. It says "error 7 (windows error 14001). iTunes said to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Windows installer won't work.

My computer froze, so I had to finally turn it off. When I turned it on again, it wouldn't open iTunes. Error7 (Windows error 14001) appeared. I could not uninstall and reinstall iTunes because now Windows Installer isn't working either. Tried using "System Restore" from a backup, but still didn't fix problem. Tried online purchase of registry cleanup ("Error End"), but that didn't solve problem either.
How can I get iTunes to open? Any suggestions for getting Windows Installer to work? Thanks!

Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.

Doublechecking. Were you using the instructions from the following documents?

(Doublechecking, because an error 7 off ituneshelper normally indicates trouble with Apple Application Support. If something else is going on, it's pretty exotic.)

Error 7 windows error 14001

When I download iTunes & try to open it, and error pops up that says "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 14001)" I tried uninstalling & reinstalling at least 12 times, nothing changed. I've tried calling Apple and they told me it was a Windows issue that they can't help with. I tried to find the Windows number and it asked for my credit card number because my service required payment so I just didn't do it. I tried running the CCCleaner before & after reinstalling iTunes but iTunes still didn't work. I've been downloading the recommended iTunes for my computer, which I found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1047 but it doesn't work. I've tried installing an older version of iTunes but the same thing happens; error message. I tried fixing my .Net framework with a program on the Apple site, NOTHING HAS WORKED.
So as you can see, I've tried ALOT of stuff. Is there any simple, FREE way to fix this problem?!
And to top it all off, since my iPod touch is brand new it won't do ANYTHING until I have iTunes installed & working. It shows a USB cord and an arrow pointing to an iTunes icon. When I plug it into my computer nothing happens and the screen remains, it won't let me do anything.

You probably have remnants of prior iTunes installation that needs to be unistalled.
To to your Control Panel and remove all Apple programs - sort by Publisher:
uninstall: Bonjour, Quicktime, iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Service Device, Apple Software Update
Restart your PC
Go to Apple - iTunes and download (if you are running Windows 64 bit - look for the link in the text for the link for the proper iTunes installation
This should give you a clean installation.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I have been using itunes on my windows 64 bit laptop for years but since downloading the latest itunes 10.7 update whenever I opened itunes the error message 'A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes (-42404)'
Itunes would still load and play music in my library and I could still sync my ipod but when loading a CD itunes would not recognise the album/tracks and I would need to type them manualing after uploading.
I have just bought the new iphone5 and went to sync the phone with itunes. itunes recognises the iphone when plugged in via the usb port or when wi fi is turned on but itunes will not allow the phone to sync.
I spent over an hour the other morning speaking to apple customer support and have ensured I have administer right and that UAC is turned off.
I was taken through msconfigure and adjusted the startup tab but still no joy.
In the end I was e-mailed instructions on how to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and component parts.
Now that I've uninstalled itunes when I try reinstalling I get the following messages during the download.
The 1st message is;
'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
When I click ok the next message that appears sometime later during the install is;
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) Failed to start Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
The options I have are to abort, retry or ignore. If I retry the same message comes back and if I abort or ignore the download continues and I then get the following message:
'Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run itunes Helper. Please uninstall itunes, then reinstall itunes again. Error 2'
After attempting to reinstall itunes only some components were installed however itunes would not open.
It would appear many people have experienced problems with this latest download!

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

ITunes error 7 (windows 127) VideoToolbox.dll

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried installing the videotoolbox.dll file seperately, and looked up just about everything i can find but nothing matches my exact problem or fixes it. When I try to open itunes i get 2 error messages. The first reads:
"The procedure entry point kVTCompressionPropertyKey_ThrottleForBackground could not be located in the dynamic link library VideoToolbox.dll"
After I click ok I get another pop up saying:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
Error 7 (Windows error 127)"
Can anyone help me fix this?

I recently backed up all of my data using Samsung Recovery Solution 5 to an external hard drive so that I could restore my laptop. I put all of my data back on the restored laptop and reinstalled iTunes. After the error message that says that certain items could not be found and the "sync" is finished I go back to my music in iTunes and there are exclamation marks next to many songs. I follow some instructions regarding the Edit - Preferences - Advanced settings and the exclamation marks go away until I try to sync my phone again. Then I get the same error message and the exclamation marks return. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the same thing happens again. I am about to schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar but would like to avoid that if possible. Thank you in advance for any help.
