ITunes error 8003 and dowloads restart at 0

I have been trying to download Discovery Atlas Italy for several weeks. I have a very poor internet connection that is maybe in the neighborhood of 128 k. I keep getting error 8003 while I am downloading the file and it resets to 0. The most I have been able to download is 600 MB. In past experiences iTunes saved download progress and there was an option to pause iTunes store purchases. I no longer have this ability and I am uncertain why. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Here's a possible fix for Error 11503 and for error 50.
It worked for me and hopefully it will work for you.
I believe this error is caused by the incomplete downloading of either an update to an app, or perhaps a big music file. In my case it was caused by closing the lid on my laptop when I was downloading app updates on a very slow internet connection in a hotel.
Anyway, here is what I did that fixed it completely.
Close iTunes.
Go to this folder : /iTunes/Mobile Applications/Downloads
You'll find tmp files there. Drag them out of this folder to a temporary folder on your desktop. The Downloads folder should now be empty.
Restart iTunes.
All should be fine.
If it's not, then I can't help further, but that's what worked for me.

These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:

If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:  ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows 7:  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
Windows XP:  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.

ITunes Error 8003

I have an iPad app in iTunes on my Windows machine. I cannot download it directly via iPad as it generates an error concerning logging in to iTunes on my computer, etc. When I try to download the app from iTunes on my computer, I get error 8003. On my iPad I get a persistent error message as written above, with two buttons, Done and Retry. I can click either of those button and the window just closes and then reopens ad nauseam. I cannot do anything else on my iPad while this is going on. The iTunes store is turning my iPad into a brick. Doesn't anyone have a definitive answer to al of this ? All I got from iTunes support was a message telling me to download the app on my computer and sync the iPad. For the reasons given above, that doesn't work. Until 3 days ago I was able to download the apps directly on my iPad. Now it is kaput.
I bought this d**ned thing in July. How long do I have to return this brick and get my money back ???

Ok, I too had this issue, so I went through few steps, and found a solution. I don't know this will solve it for other users. But give it a try. Good luck!
By the way, I don't know which step actually fix this problem, but you can find it out on your end.
1) Disable all popup blocks under IE: Tools / Popup blocker / Turn off
2) Add https:apple.com to trusted sited under IE: Tools / Internet Options / Security tab / click on Trusted Sites Icon / click on "sites..." button and add "https:apple.com"
3) If you have the McAfee Security Center running, disable "Privacy Service". note: If you have a different personal firewall or security product installed on your PC, you want to enable any site or apple.com to leave cookies on your pc.
**I think this is the trick to resolve the error code #8003.
4) If you have a personal firewall device connected to DSL or Cable, open the port #3689 for Itune. This should be done through the gaming setting on your firewall/gateway/router device connected to DSL/cable line.

Itunes error 54 and mismatching artwork

I've been getting an error when trying to sync my iphone with itunes, error 54. I'm pretty sure it's not the iphone since I've gotten a new iphone since this has been happening. Everything syncs fine except the album artwork. I keep getting mismatched artwork, if I change the artwork in itunes, same artwork just different file, it will try to sync it again and sometimes that works. So frustrating while I'm trying to reimport my entire music library. Someone please help. Using Windows 8.

It is interesting that some of the songs are not synchronized, but always different, when they re-synchronization to be copied, and the phone displays, but do not play. I reinstalled iTunes, updated iOS, and even recently reinstalled Windows (8.1), the result is the same. But I tried to sync with a working computer (Windows 7 and last version iTunes), there's iTunes folder location is not in the folder with the music, so I manually add music, then all the synchronized. When I get back from work, I'll try to do the same on your home laptop and let you know the result, can someone help.

What is iTunes error 1712 and how do I fix it?

When I try to launch iTunes a message appears:
"The application iTunes can't be opened. -1712".
What does this mean and how can it be fixed?

I did a Google search on Error 1450, and it seems to be a 'lack of resources' issue within windows. Not related to iTunes.
Maybe shut down all other programs (including the TSR programs you may have loaded) and see if it helps?

Itunes errors 1003 and 8003

Why am I getting these errors?? I have restarted my computer, changed security settings, deleted download files, completely restored my phone to factory settings, and reset my router. What else would you have me do, APPLE SUPPORT???!!!!

Afternoon. I am also having problems with this 'Error -54' when trying to sync/back up/add music to my iPhone 5s with iTunes using Windows 8.1. I've been to the Apple store who insisted it was not their problem and didn't really seem to care. They reluctantly replaced my handset (I did have network issues too) but nothing changed. I still get the Error. I had reset my original handset 3-4 times. Completely wiped of all photos and data. Nothing changed. I contacted Microsoft who gave me a couple of things to try despite saying it DOES NOT look like a Microsoft issue. I came across the following message:
'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is and older USB device and might not work with USB 3.0. Plug the device into and available USB 2.0 port, and Next. Otherwise, click cancel'
I plugged my data cable into the only USB 2.0 port on my laptop but the error still occurs so it can't be a driver issue can it? I'm not that computer literate so I am not really sure what I'm talking about!
I called Apple. They gave me instructions on how to correctly uninstall iTunes and all associated programs and then reinstall them. Nothing changed.
Today I tried using iTunes on Windows 8 (I know it definitely worked fine on that) and 7. Guess what? Nothing changed.
I'm getting a bit annoyed with this now. I cannot back up or add music to my phone. I, like you, have paid out big money for a phone that I cannot use to it's full potential and Apple are not interested! I am going back to the Apple Store tomorrow as the replacement handset has an unrelated earphone jack problem. I'm going to stay there until I get some answers about Error -54.

Wierd error message and computer restarting

Everytime I try to change any ipod preferences, I get the following error message:
"An error occurred when updating the default player for audio file types. You do not have enough access priviliges for this operation."
Then, when I press OK, my computer restarts. Also, when I go to File-Update iPod, my computer restarts, AND when I plug in my iPod for auto update, it will restart unless it has just restarted. In other words, it will only allow 1 update per restart. Please help, I have Windows XP home edition, a fairly fast computer with no viruses that I know of. I don't know what could be causing this!!!

sorry, been away and only just checked back on the forums. I thought quicktime as itunes uses this under the covers and I had ort of the same problem. I would suggest de-installing all the software and start with a blank canvas. Make sure you remove the software with the add/remove software task though.
Once you've removed all the software format the ipod (as a removable disk)
Use the CD that came with your ipod to do the re-install.
Hope this helps / works.
P.S. how can such a small item cause so many people so much grief (myself included). saying that there must be thousands of ipod user out there that have never had problem! lucky so and so's

Ok, I too had this issue, so I went through several steps, and found a solution which works for me.
I don't know this will solve it for other users. But give it a try. Good luck!
By the way, I don't know which step actually fix this problem, but you can find it out on your end.

Itunes constant freezing and cannot restart

Hey, I've been having a lot of issues with my itunes for the past week or so. Every few hours or so (sometimes within like 1) my itunes will freeze completely. Once it freezes I'll close it or end the process in Task Manager and it generally shuts down. Now if the constant freezing wasn't enough of an annoyance, the itunes process also hangs in Task Manager after I've shut the program down. I have tried to end the process with taskkill, but it never works. While the process hangs it continues to consume computer memory and I cannot use itunes anymore. It just won't open anymore. The only way around this is to restart the entire computer. (Which is a huge pain!) I'd rather not have to restart my computer every time I want to listen to some music.
Some things I've tried -
Uninstalling itunes and other apple services completely; normally and by using revo uninstaller on other occassions. Then doing a fresh install.
Installing older version of itunes.
Using CCleaner to search for errors.
Checking to see if there are any firewall conflicts.
Doing a complete virus scan with Malwarebytes and Avast.
Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening, and/or know any fixes? If so, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Figured it out (I think). Seems to be an iTunes problem. I found some articles on this site about bugs in Version 7 so I deleted iTunes from my PC, reinstalled Version 6, drained down my iPod, hooked it back up, restored the OS from Version 6 and now, 3 days later, all seems to be working.
If you have a look over some of the discussions on this site you'll see that this is somewhat of a common occurrence, but Apple don't seem to be admitting it.
