ITunes error (-9812)

"+We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-9812).+
+There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.+"
I get this error every time I try to do anything with the iTunes store. I've looked around, but I can't find any relevent help.
Anyone know what to do?

That's what I thought originally, but the problem started three days ago, and I haven't been able to do anything since.
Oh, by the way, I had never tried previously, it's just that I got a $AU20 music card for my birthday on Wednesday.

My network connection is fine as well, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here :/

Well after days of trying to figure this out..... i finally got it! It was something to do with my Kaspersky Anti-Virus/Firewall. I saw that when I connected my iPod to my PC, Kaspersky was scanning port 443. It kept returning an invalid certificate for www.nike.com. So I opened up the port settings for Kaspersky, unchecked the box for monitoring port 443 and tried again.
    It works perfectly!

I posted my issues in a different forum (iTunes) and got an answer from Jolly Giant. He/She suggested I update my Root Kit by going to link provided below. The link is for the 2009 update, but I download the 2009 and 2010 just to be safe. I had to restart my computer, but my iPod is working fine now. Hopefully this will work for some of you.

  • Anyone have a fix for Unknown Error (-9812)?

Whenever I try to log on to my iTunes account, I keep getting the following message:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred
(-9812). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."
I've tried shutting down my router and modem (something that was recommended on another thread), going into my Kaspersky Security/Firewall settings and adding iTunes.com to the list of trusted sites, but all with no success. Can anyone help me... PLEASE?

Oh - I answered on your other post.
Try turning your cable modem off for a minute.
Here's an article on that error, easily found by googling itunes error 9812:

I'm having trouble accessing the iTunes store. I keep on getting
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. And unknown error occured (-9812). There was an error in the itunes sotre. Please try again later."
I contacted support and they said it was just a temporary issue but it's been going on for several weeks now.
My connection works fine. Another computer (Intel Macbook 10.4.11) can connect fine no problem.
I'm not running Norton or any firewalls...my credit card info on my account is up to date...date & time are correct...
It seems to be a Windows error message: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301520
Any help would be appreciated. Its killing me because I can't authorize any of my purchased music
EDIT: I looked through the forums but couldn't find anything that helped.

Please could someone help explain what has happened.
    Kind Regards

  • ITunes for Windows: Error -9812 when accessing the iTunes Store

So here is the situation. When I try to access our iTunes U site from the public link it works great, when I go thru the link that has me authenticicate it works on macs but on PC's I get the error message "iTunes for Windows: Error -9812 when accessing the iTunes Store" it's happening all thru our campus with PC users. Any ideas?????

We're having similar connection issues, and the error log on our web server says something about a certificate error. I noted that last year on this date there were messages related to certificates. Is it possible they are updated every Dec 2, and we should count on some down time?

    Error 9812
Recall I was having this problem with ITunes. I decided to cruise some of the Apple help forums to see what I could find, turns out a few other people were having the same problem. Finally some kind soul found the fix and posted it in the forum!
Here is the fix (for anyone that might stumble upon my site)

  • How to find out podcast's URL (to add it manually; iTunes Store error -9812

I'm trying to subscribe to the free podcast called TEDtalks. I've located it in the iTunes Store, but when I hit "subscribe", I get "unknown error -9812". Same thing when I try to log in to the store. Nothing I've tried helps resolve this error (it started after I added some SSL certificates to my keychain). Anyway, I want to add the URL to this podcast to iTunes manually (through the Advanced menu). How do I find out the URL? I've done this before for other podcasts, but I just can't seem to figure out what the URL is for this one. I can subscribe to it on another Mac; if I do that, can I get it to display the URL it's using so that I can add it by hand?

    Graham K. Rogers wrote:
That is a bit of a nuisance as the site itself does not have an easily visible URL for the podcast. Fortunately, a Google search comes up with Learn Out Loud which shows this:
as the feed URL. Copy and paste that into the advanced menu of iTunes.
awesome!! Thank you so much. The darn TED website doesn't have it and I spent a lot of time googling looking for it. And the iTunes store doesn't let me log in. But this does the trick - fantastic.
