ITunes error when trying to delete podcast episode

Question

iTunes 11.3.1.2
Windows 8.1 Update 1 (64-bit) with all patches through and including August 2014 "patch Tuesday" (first Tuesday of every month is known as Patch Tuesday).
Whenever I try to delete a podcast from iTunes I get an error "iTunes has stopped working...".  The only option is to close iTunes.
The applicable Application Event Log entry shows:

I ran a repair operation on iTunes and rebooted, but the error is still happening.
Is there anything else, short of a complete reinstall, that I can do to fix this?
