ITunes extras in Apple tv acting glitchy

My 3rd generation Apple TV's have auto-updated with the latest software update which allows iTunes extras. When I click on a movie that has iTunes extras, it goes to the appropriate screen, but the image flickers (fades in and out continuously). I have tried this on multiple movies that I own that have iTunes extras, so I was wondering if this was possibly just a glitch that everyone is experiencing, or is this just me? If it isn't just me, has anyone found a way to fix this?

I'm having the exact same issue.  Updated Apple TV 3 with 6.2 software update installed. Broadband connection, with no speed lags. Regardless of the time of day, this happens to my system as well.  Tried a restart but had no luck.
An additional issue I have had is iTunes Extra content not showing video but playing the audio and then not going back to the menu screen at all, forcing me to unplug the Apple TV to reset it.  It seems you have to time the play or select button to catch the flicker just right to play the content as well.
Watching ANY HD movie with iTunes Extra content that I purchased is causing this flickering screen issue.
As yet I have not found a fix for this.  Hoping Apple takes note and resolves this annoyance.

  • How do i use iTunes extras with apple tv?

I purchased a movie from the iTunes store that came with iTunes extras.  I'd like to view the extras from my apple tv (2nd generation), but haven't been able to figure out how or if I can.  Does anyone know how I can do this?

Buy an AppleTV1 - that could handle them as well as itunes LP.
    Crazy, crazy, crazy.

  • ITunes extras on Apple TV

I have several dozens of movies now in iTunes w/ iTunes Extras & still can't conveniently access Extras on ATV gen 3. WTH??  Get on w/ it please!!

You do not have to AirPlay Mirror your Mac.
    The simple solution is this:
Set iTunes to AirPlay to your Apple TV, then play iTunes Extras, select what bonus feature you want to watch and it will AirPlay to your Apple TV.
I don't know why nobody has thought of this..
Step One: Click the AirPlay symbol in the upper left hand corner of the window. Select your Apple TV
Step Two: Select your movie and click Play iTunes Extras
    Step Three: Select bonus material
Step Four: Watch on your Apple TV

  • ITunes Extras on Apple TV: video features play audio only; no video (bug)

I downloaded "Star Trek" (2009) with iTunes extras; I accessed the film on my Apple TV, and went to the additional video content page. However, when I attempted to play the extra video features, I received the alert message that the "music volume" was low, prompting me to hit "OK". The screen would return to the menu, and the audio from the extra feature would play; no video from the feature would appear.
This is a bug--until a update comes to the Apple TV, an interim solution would be to go to Settings > Audio & Video > Control Music Volume, and turning the music volume control off.

Yes, sounds as though it's failing or failed.
You'll be lucky to get it repaired if it's out of warranty.  Apple didn't even offer a paid repair when one of mine failed.
Got home from holiday yesterday and the PVR hard drive seems to have failed and is just clicking away.

  • ITunes Extras on Apple TV (Vs 4.2.2)

Does anybody know if it is possible to view iTunes Extras on ATV?
By necessity I have to move my downloads to an external hard drive and then find them again in iTunes. I copy the extras into the same folder on the external hard drive and iTunes picks them up fine, so I can watch both the film and the extras on my computer.
However, ATV - which will play the film itself with no issues whatsoever - will not pick up or let me access the extras which are in the same location. Is there any way of getting them to work in ATV?
I have read on other threads that there is an option somewhere to 'allow iTunes Extras', but I cannot find it for love nor money.
Please help because this is driving me batsh*t crazy ,
    Cheers.

Well that's a kick in the teeth.
Does anybody know any way around it?
And why have they done it like that? It seems a little counter-intuitive to have more features on the old model than the new model . . .

  • Download new iTunes Extras? iTunes 11.3/Apple TV 6.2

Apple has given us a delicious chocolate cake, and I've just discovered it's been poisoned!
I was so exited when I read the Apple TV Update 6.2 would allow me to watch iTunes Extras on Apple TV, but now I've found out that I have to stream the content from online. How stupid is that? What about the 18GBs worth, over 9 hours of footage that came with the extend edition of The Hobbit? The second installment releasing in a few months is going to have just as much, and if Apple thinks I am going to stream it online, they are out of their right mind!
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to download the 'new' iTunes Extras? I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.
Also, is it at all possible to play old iTunes Extras on Apple TV with the new update?

This is absolutely ridiculous. I used to love the extras Because I had instant additional content that I PAID for ready to watch whether I had wifi or not. Streaming the extras creates far to many problems. Firstly, I PAID  for the HD version they includes the extras. I should have them. Not be allowed to borrow them. Secondly, if your wifi connection ***** like mine does. the content is going to continually freeze and stop unexpectedly. I would understand that form a free site like youtube. But I PAID for this. streaming extras was an extremely stupid move on apples part. It is a terrible day when people aren't allowed instant access to something they paid for. Instead having to wait for it as if we are renting it for the short amount of time we watch it. Then waiting for hours on end (again, terrible internet connection) for this content to load. And no. It is not additional content. It is PAID content.

  • ITunes Extras won't play on Apple TV 3

iTunes extras supposedly works with the Apple TV now:
    http://9to5mac.com/2014/07/10/apple-brings-itunes-extras-to-apple-tv-hd-extras-t o-macs-today-ios-8-in-fall/
But I cannot get it to work!
I have an Apple TV with software version 6.2 and iTunes 11.3.1 on my iMac. iTunes Extras work on the iMac but not on the Apple TV.
I have tried both playing from iTunes on the iMac and cloud playback on the Apple TV, but it always goes directly to the movie rather than the menu screen to allow selection of extras or movie playback.
I also have checked and the Apple TV has playback setting on 1080p.
What magic needs to be done to get iTunes extras to work?

    It all changed.
Extras were originally downloadable 'sidecar files' that AppleTV 1 and iTunes could play.
If you have the old Extras that downloaded to iTunes, and still play there, ATV2 and 3 won't do anything with them.
The new Extras will only play on AppleTV via your Movie Purchases/Purchased section via the Cloud (Movies icon not Computers), and require the internet - if your connection is slow they will buffer.  You cannot download 'new extras' to iTunes anymore, again they must play via the 'cloud'.
Also old films with 'Old Extras' don't necessarily have the 'new Extras' (yet), there have also been several glitches where people get the Extras from the Cloud but cannot work out how to play the Movie!

  • The play option is not available on some iTunes extra titles on Apple TV

With the latest update iTunes extra has been added to Apple TV, which is pretty cool.  BUT some titles do not have the "play" option once you are in the iTunes extra menu.  All the features are there, but the play option is not.  This is particularly happening with the movie Planes.  Other Disney titles, and non-disney titles, seem to irk fine.  It works from my MacBook Pro.  I have logged out and back into iTunes on my ATV with no change.  Any ideas?

It sounds like lack of testing with these titles in all honesty.
I guess you could also alert itunes Store support to this.  Hoepfully it's just the odd title here and there, and something that can be quickly fixed, but kids won't understand that!
I'm dissapointed that the old Extras I have downloaded in iTunes won't work as they would with AppleTV 1 when streamed from iTunes.
Uncertain if you can download Extras to iTunes anymore either if they are cloud dependent and in some new format perhaps.  Yet to try but I don't think they'd work via Home Sharing.

  • I bought a HD and the Itunes Stores say that the movie (Pretty Women) has Itunes Extras. Why I can not find it? It is a mistake from Apple? What happen if I buy the movie because the Extras and now I can not watch it? I have an Ipad last generation.

What version of iOS do you have on your iPad (Settings > General > About > Version), and is it connected to wifi ?
From Buy and play movies with iTunes Extras - Apple Support :
Here’s what you need to stream the new iTunes Extras:
Mac using OS X Mavericks v10.9.3 or later and iTunes 11.3 or later
PC using iTunes 11.3 or later
Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation or later) using Apple TV software 6.2 or later
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iOS 8 or later (You need to connect to Wi-Fi. Extras won't appear if you're connected to a cellular network.)
    An active Internet connection
You can use the steps below on your Apple TV, Mac, PC, or iOS device for any purchased, HD movie that features Extras:
On your Apple TV, select Movies, then select your movie to see the Extras menu. Extras aren't available from the Computer tile on Apple TV (Home Sharing).
On your Mac or PC, open iTunes and go to the Movies section in your iTunes library. Double-click your movie. If there's no Internet connection, the Extras menu will be skipped. The movie will immediately play if you already downloaded it.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap the Videos app, then tap your movie. If you're connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi, the Extras menu will appear.

  • HD movies with iTunes extra won't play on Apple TV.Tried to repurchase and message states, "Already purchased, would you like to view now?" Submitted "YES" and am taken to movie's menu with iTunes extra with no tab for 'PLAY'. Menu won't work at all.

Several movies I purchased won't play on Apple TV. They don't show up on my Apple TV menu, and if I search for them, the "Purchase HD movie" tab shows up. When I try to re-purchase, states "Already Purchased- would you like to view now". I answer "YES" and I'm taken to a screen without a "Play" tab. Other tabs such as "Extras" are frozen and don't work. Unable to see the movie or any of the iTunes extras.

  • Can MacMini Server with OS X Lion Server act as an iTunes server for Apple TV2

Can Mac Mini Server with OS X Server act as an iTunes sever for Apple TV2?

If you plan to set up a Mini as media server ...
Why not directly using the Mini as media center?
Then you wont need no Apple TV ...
Then your Mini IS the Apple TV, iTunes sever and so on, especially if e.g. a Elgato or WDTV stick or box is added.

  • Apple please develop an app that will play the iTunes Extras.

I have accumulated several movies from iTunes that have 'iTune Extras' which can only be accessed on my computer.  I only use my iPad and Apple TV to watch my digital media because my computer is desk top.  I am surprised that there is not a way to access these extra on my iPad.  Any ideas?

We are fellow users here on these forums, if you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Currently iTunes Extras and iTunes LPs can only be played on a computer's iTunes, they can't be played on an iOS device - until if/when Apple develop a way of allowing you to play them on an iPad then you will need to use your computer (or first gen Apple TV).

  • Why doesn't Apple include all iTunes extras with bundle purchases?

I have noticed this before but now I am wondering: Why doesn't Apple include all iTunes extras with bundle purchases?
I am currently looking at the Buddy Comedy Pack.  On this page they say that the following movies have iTunes Extras:
21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, and Step Brothers.
As you scroll down the page it says that if you purchase this bundle, you also receive:
iTunes Extras for: 21 Jump Street, Step Brothers, and The Other Guys
    A) Why not include 22 Jump Street's extras with this bundle?
    B) The Other Guy's does not have an iTunes extra unless bought through this bundle! (What the heck?!)
    Thanks for your help!
