ITunes Extras on iPad

All the documentation indicates that iTunes Extras should now be available for viewing on the iPad with iOS 8, but I have several movies with Extras and I don't see any way to stream the extras.  Has this not been switched on yet?  How do you get this to work?  The current version of iTunes 11.4 and iOS 8.0.2 both seem really buggy at present (not syncing well or lots of rigamarole to get sync to work) so maybe it's just not fully functional?

I Had the same issue. I spent a good couple of hours talking to iTunes support last night about it. All they could say was that iTunes extras are only available on iTunes and Apple TV.
this morning I had to erase all the content from my iPad and the restore it from an iCloud back up. When the back up was restored the extras were available on my iPad. Might just be a coincidence.

By the way, I just purchased this movie last night.  I somehow deleted Cars while the other parts of the bundle were still downloading.  I tried looking into iClod but I was unable to find a link to download the movie again.

  • How can I download a movie onto my iPad without the iTunes extras or in  SD?

I have been trying to download or transfer some of my movies to my iPad, but with all the new iTunes extras some of the movies are 5GB or more now which is crazy. Is there a way to transfer the movies without these features, so that I have more space?

I had the same question as was asked here, and I see that if I turn off my Wi-Fi on my iPad I can no longer access the iTunes Extras. However, if the extras are streaming-based, why is the file size of movies with Extras so much larger than those without? Any other HD movie with a similar running time is between 1.5 and 2.5GB, all with Extras are between 3.5 and 5GB. The problem isn't the Extras, its the lack of space on my iPad.

  • I bought a HD and the Itunes Stores say that the movie (Pretty Women) has Itunes Extras. Why I can not find it? It is a mistake from Apple? What happen if I buy the movie because the Extras and now I can not watch it? I have an Ipad last generation.

What version of iOS do you have on your iPad (Settings > General > About > Version), and is it connected to wifi ?
From Buy and play movies with iTunes Extras - Apple Support :
Here’s what you need to stream the new iTunes Extras:
Mac using OS X Mavericks v10.9.3 or later and iTunes 11.3 or later
PC using iTunes 11.3 or later
Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation or later) using Apple TV software 6.2 or later
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iOS 8 or later (You need to connect to Wi-Fi. Extras won't appear if you're connected to a cellular network.)
    An active Internet connection
You can use the steps below on your Apple TV, Mac, PC, or iOS device for any purchased, HD movie that features Extras:
On your Apple TV, select Movies, then select your movie to see the Extras menu. Extras aren't available from the Computer tile on Apple TV (Home Sharing).
On your Mac or PC, open iTunes and go to the Movies section in your iTunes library. Double-click your movie. If there's no Internet connection, the Extras menu will be skipped. The movie will immediately play if you already downloaded it.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap the Videos app, then tap your movie. If you're connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi, the Extras menu will appear.

  • IPad and Movies that have iTunes Extras

I don't yet have an iPad to test it out yet.
I have a few movies that I bought from the iTunes Store that came with iTunes Extras (bonus content like found on DVD's)
At the moment that iTunes Extras only work on a Mac, PC or an Apple TV... but will they sync across to the iPad? Am I able to watch the iTunes Extras on an iPad?

    Hello Susan Dietz,
Much like calling from one phone to another, you would need a separate Apple ID to contact with FaceTime (just as calling your own phone number would direct you to your own voicemail, rather than ring your phone).

  • HT1725 I bought a movie last night and it downloaded. But when the ITunes extras were downloading, my G drive disconnected accidentally. I have tried to check for available downloads and all of their steps but nothing has worked. What do i do now?

I have tried all of their steps online and there is no phone number to call. I don;t want to repurchase the item just for the ITunes extras!

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

iTunes Extras are not on your iPad.

  • Anyone having problems playing Toy Story 3 - iTunes Extras ?

I've downloaded Toy Story 3 and the iTunes Extras won't work on my Apple TV.
It all plays fine on my iPad & MPB.
Deleted the iTunes extras file and it plays on ATV.
I raised with iTunes support who sent the file down again, however 2nd version also does not play.
Anyone else getting this issue ?

Other iTunes extras play just fine on my AppleTV - just Toy Story 3 does not.

  • ITunes LP on iPad?

I copied the files from an iTunes LP into a zip and put them onto the iPad via GoodReader, which can navigate the menus and view images. Works OK, but is obviously not as slick as how iTunes LP works on the Mac.
    Is there a better solution?
Also, out of curiosity does anyone know why Apple doesn't support iTunes LP on the iPad? Despite the somewhat low resolution, it seems like a great device for this.

  • ITunes purchases on iPad not registering with Macbook iTunes.

    Hello everyone.
I've purchased and downloaded films on iTunes via my iPad. However on my MacBook Air, when I go to the iTunes store it still requires me to pay for the same films in order to download them.
Both devices are connected to the same iTunes account, and from what I can see, match is on. Yet somehow it's like they're seperate.
The MacBook Air automatically downloads the iTunes Extra content associated with the movies, but not the films themselves.
    Any ideas?

  • Start Wars missing iTunes Extras

Purchased the Star Wars digital collection on release day, but I can't find the iTunes Extras. Can't find them on Apple TV, iPad or Macbook. Am I missing something? Did I buy the wrong item?

    Hello dormsby,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Movies which contain iTunes Extras have a blue iTunes Extras badge on their product page.  If the item you purchased does contain that badge, then please look at the information in the article below.

  • Apple please develop an app that will play the iTunes Extras.

I have accumulated several movies from iTunes that have 'iTune Extras' which can only be accessed on my computer.  I only use my iPad and Apple TV to watch my digital media because my computer is desk top.  I am surprised that there is not a way to access these extra on my iPad.  Any ideas?

We are fellow users here on these forums, if you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Currently iTunes Extras and iTunes LPs can only be played on a computer's iTunes, they can't be played on an iOS device - until if/when Apple develop a way of allowing you to play them on an iPad then you will need to use your computer (or first gen Apple TV).

  • Duplicate itunes extras

for some reason I have 10s of thousands of copies of Thor's iTunes extras, both on my mini snow leopard server, and on my appleTV ( which is really not happy). after deleting all the extra copies in the server file system, reformatting my apple TV, and building a new itunes db and library, I'm seeing the same issue again. What did I miss ?
    d.

    Kinda unrelated...
Didn't work for me either. All 3 codes just downloaded the 3rd movie.
So I took the set back and got a new one.
    Same deal.
I contacted both Universal and iTunes Support.
Both gave me a new set of codes (actually iTunes did not give me actual codes - but they added the download to my account and it automatically started downloading when I opened iTunes).
So - with the new codes - I could get all 3 movies into iTunes.
    HOWEVER.
None of them will sync to my iPhone or iPad. Bizarre - it says the movie(s) are not authorized to play on this computer. Well - actually on the computer they play just fine - they just can't be synced to a device.
Needless to say I've emailed both iTunes and Universal back tonight.
    REAL frustrating.
Think I'm just going to return them and stick to my old plain old DVD set. At least I can RIP those dvds just fine into iTunes.
    Anyone else having issues?
I did have several copies of everything.
I just started deleting them all.
