ITunes failing to send songs to iPod

I have had my iPod for over a year now and have had little difficulty interacting with the iTunes software until recently. After downloading the new iTunes update, all of my music on my iPod was cleared for reasons unknown to me. I updated the software on my iPod and have the latest version of iTunes. Now when I connect my iPod to the computer and iTunes tries to transfer my library of about 1000 songs to the iPod, there appears to be some error when it gets around 200 songs in. It says Updating Ipod at the top of the screen, but it will get stuck up on a different song. It will do this for several minutes and then freeze up. I close out iTunes and disconnect my iPod and no songs have been transferred. I don't understand why it would work perfectly for over a year and suddenly have these problems. I can't get the songs to transfer to the iPod and haven't been able to get past about 400 songs max before it freezes up. Please help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Okay, I did what I was dreading and completely restored my ipod using the updater, then I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. Now, it will not allow me to update my ipod with the music.
edit: specifically the "Update Ipod" option is greyed out.

  • ITunes will not load songs on IPod

Recently, my Itunes has stopped adding songs to my Ipod. When I try to drag a playlist into my Ipod, Itunes will load one song and then stop. I've made sure that I have my Ipod set to manually manage my music. I've connected another Ipod and the same thing happens. Any assistance that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciate.

I am also having the same problem with IPod Mini(6G). I purchased it September 2005.
The only thing different was that I needed to change my credit card information. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

  • Itunes fails to update songs in my ipod when syncing.

What can I do? This is really frustrating, because sometimes it works and then when I get almost to the end of filling up my device, everything freezes and stops syncing.
I have a real nice Acer ultrabook with windows 8.1 64 bit, it runs really good with pretty much everything, no problems whatsoever.
I also have the latest version of Itunes with almost 80 gb of music transfered from my old laptop. The thing is, when I plug in my ipod classic 160 gb, everything seems fine, the program runs good, and when I try to grab and release an album or artist, it all gets slow and the syncing process never ends. Earlier today I tried restoring my ipod, and everything ran pretty good until I got to artists with letter "Q" when it froze and till now cant get those last gigs into my device.
If anyone knows how could I fix this, I would be endlessly grateful to you.
    Thanks for listening.

I have this problem since IOS 7

  • ITunes will not add songs to ipod

Please Help!! My iTunes recognizes my iPod and tries to update it, but an error message appears that reads "---ipod cannot be updated, the disk could not be read from or written to." It also deleted all the songs from my ipod. I don't know what to do. I have the iPod video and everything worked fine the last time I plugged it in the computer.

    hiya!
here's a good place to start with that error message:
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod

  • ITunes is not transferring songs to iPod

Very frustrated...MacBook, iTunes, and iPod are up to date. I imported a CD onto my iTunes library. With my iPod plugged in, the songs will not transfer to the iPod. I can drag the album over and also go the 'add to' route, but either way the transfer never actually happens. This is the first CD import I've done since both devices were updated. Any suggestions?

  • Itunes is not adding songs to ipod

So this issue started around a week ago. If i add new songs to iTunes, they all won't show up in my iPod when its synced. Only a couple of songs will appear in my iPod but not all of them and it's really frustrating. I'm thinking about restoring my iPod but i have a fear that by doing so, if the problem is not fixed, then most of the songs i already have in it will not sync back.
Should i go ahead and restore it anyways?

Try disabling a/v software and turn off the Firewall on the computer then try syncing.
    Disable antivirus software
Turn Windows Firewall on or off

  • Itunes will not sync songs to ipod

I am using itunes 8 and have a 80gb classic ipod sixth generation. I cannot get over 400 songs to sync up from itunes to my ipod and there have been no error messages indicating that there is anything wrong with the songs themselves. In the past it had loaded up over 1700 songs with no problem. Please help me fix this problem.

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to sync using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

  • Itunes wont list all songs on ipod, only some of them

My itunes doesn’t list all the songs on my ipod, only some of them. (Only the ones uploaded after a certain date, when I think I forgot to eject my ipod one day).
The ipod definitely has all the albums I've ever uploaded on it. I know because I've tried looking on my friends’ computer and his DOES show all songs on my ipod.
Sounds like a PC problem, not an ipod problem, right? So I tried re-installing itunes, but that doesn’t fix it.
It’s not a bit deal, but it just means I can’t delete certain albums from my ipod.

How exactly are you trying to view this info.
Select the iPod as the Source. Do not select any of the playlists on the iPod, just select the iPod itself.
Any reason you are manually managing the iPod?

  • ITunes Unable to Retrieve Songs from iPod Shuffle on newly reformatted lapt

I just reformatted my computer - reinstalling the OS on my HP Laptop (uses XP)....and now, after trying to retrieve music files, which apparently I did not save correctly, iTunes will not allow me to import the songs from my iPod shuffle. I get a message that my computer is not authorized. I followed the instructions and "authorized" my computer, but to no avail - it will not recognize my shuffle - and I cannot even get the music I put onto my shuffle from my personal CD collection - which had been placed onto my music lists prior to my reinstalling the OS. HELP........!! Please.......anyone.....if you are an Apple employee and reading this - why is it so doggone hard to get help in understanding how to use this technology???? Can I get a little help here ????????
thank you anyone -- Robert Bond

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in iTunes enable it for disk use, this is required for most if not all the utilities listed below so they can access the files: Using your iPod as a storage drive
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and you need to check out that they work with the shuffle as well as the larger iPods. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows

Once you have copied all the songs back to iTunes it will be safe to "Erase & Sync" the iPod on connection to link the shuffle to this new library

  • How can I get song titles to appear in iTunes library when transferring songs from iPod to iTunes ?

My old computer crashed.  Trying to recover music from iPod.  Can transfer music, but not song titles.  Titles appear in 4letter mpg formats.  What am I doing wrong?

Provided the files were properly tagged then iTunes should pick up the data when the files are imported into the library. The main problem is usually any files in .wav format.
See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. You seem to be most of the way there already but there are a couple of scripts mentioned near the end which you could use to recover ratings & playlists.

  • Same Ipod recognized twice by iTunes, crashes when deleting songs off iPod.

I know that others have had this issue but there was never an answer and it was awhile back so I figured I'd post a new message. Everytime I sync my iPod it is recognized twice by iTunes. What I mean by this is that it looks as if I am syncing two iPods with the same name at the same time, although upon examination there contents appear different (when looking at the color bar that shows how much of the iPod is video, music, other, etc...) In addition, if I attempt to delete a song or songs off of the iPod, Itunes crashes but with no error message, just straight to the desktop, no questions asked. I know this is not a problem with drive letters as I have already checked that out and Windows is only recognizing the iPod once as the Q drive and no other drive shares that letter. Can someone please help? (or will my question end up in the iTunes message board graveyard of unanswered problems like so many others?)

so yeah i just tried that... didnt work. I changed the drive letter from G: to I: and no dice. This is all after i used msconfig to disable all third party services that automatically load at windows start up. Yet once again, those weren't the problem. So i completely uninstalled itunes, redownloaded, and then reinstalled the newest version with the third party services still disabled. Once again, itunes crashes : /
my friend is coming over in a bit and im going to see if i can successfully connect to her itunes. Only other options right now i feel i have is to pay apples sorry *** $30 to help me solve this over the phone.. or i can restore my ipod, then try again : ( any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated : )

  • Itunes not syncing all songs from ipod.

I just got a new laptop...downloaded itunes.....and plugged my ipod in. iTunes only took a few of the songs from the ipod? (55 out of 499) Why? Have no idea how to fix this

    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • ITunes Empty...Songs on iPod

So recently my computer crashed and my hard drive had to be replaced. I got my computer back a couple of days ago, only all the programs and files had been deleted. All of my songs are on my iPod, but I just downloaded iTunes again and it is completely empty. I'm not sure how to connect my iPod to my computer and have it put the songs back on to my computer without clearing the memory on my iPod. Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks.

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
