ITunes Failure - Part II

After a few more tries, iTunes decided to start working. I have no idea why, but I'm hoping it will continue! So, at this point, no need to reply. though I'd be interested in the answer as to why this occurred if anyone knows in case it happens again.
Thanks.

I actually had the same problem too, still am in fact. I click on iTunes and it starts to load. Then, the top navigation bar and dock both freeze up and the beach ball is constantly spinning. Can anyone help? It'd be very much appreciated (I need my music...).

How do I get passed the card/iTunes card part when I create an account?

You press on the itunes store, scroll down and look for a category that says "top free apps" placed at the bottom on the right. you press on the button "free" as if you want to download it and a small window opens. you press on the "create apple AD" and you fill in your information. when you get to the card part you press on the None. send me a message if you are still stuck.

    Hello douraid,
Start with the article below to get your iPhone to take a charge. Once you get it powered back on, you will want to sync again to make sure nothing was lost during the attempted sync.

  • ITunes deletes partly played podcasts from iPhone

When syncing iTunes (9.03) and iPhone 3Gs (3.1.3) I still lose partly played podcasts. I've set it to automatically include the 5 least recent new episodes of selected podcasts.
Partly played podcasts (most assuredly play count of less than 1) are not on the iPhone anymore after sync. I thought that had been changed?

I'm experiencing the same thing...thought I had changed a setting somewhere. Let me know if you find a fix.

  • ITUNES Failure - Song download interuption - Windows XP

    Installed ITUNES for Windows XP.
    Established ITUNES account.
    Purchased an albumn for download.
First three tunes downloaded, then went into "processing" phase.
I let this processing continue for ~5 minutes before manually shutting down the application as I realized the app was frozen.
Started it back up and re-initiated the download, which continued with songs 4 thru 6.
Upon reaching the processing phase, same thing occured (froze and I shut down).
Restarted for a third time and now, all tunes downloaded and post-processed with no issue.
However, the first 6 tunes are not recognized by itunes as being part of the album. They have data in them, but as their post-download processing was interuppted, they are no recognized by the application.
HOW CAN I RE-DOWNLOAD THIS ALBUM? As there does not appear to be an easy way to do it in ITUNES? Thanks

You may find this article helpful in troubleshooting the iTunes installation issue you are experiencing.

If iTunes has been previously installed, I would recommend completely uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below.  Once this is done, attempt a download and install iTunes.

  • Reporting itunes failure

Okay, has anyone else gotten this one?
Cute little box pops up to tell me iTunes quit, and wants to know if I would like to report it. Nice, neat little failure listing-- except that it is sitting on top of the running iTunes panel itself, telling me iTunes failed somehow.
    Do I need an exorcist?

I've been filling in the report box, sending it off, and have done the "report bug" feedback, too, because somehow it seems to be working quite well in spite of the box telling me otherwise.
It's just something that started under 8.2 and has happened several times.
I'm not sure if there is any relationship to any of the other iTunes issues, or if this is a delete and re-download issue.

  • Cannot install iTunes - failure to run preupgrade script

I get the error message 'failure to run preupgrade script for AppleMobileDevice' when I tried to install itunes. Have tried the steps at this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 - but still no luck. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

    Hey, thanks for your reply!
I'm trying to download iTunes 10.5. The software requirement says it needs OS X 10.5 or later so I should be able to right? (I'm on 10.5.8)

  • ITunes marks part-played podcasts as played!!

I just got a 5th gen iPod and while the new feature (for me) of remembering where you left off in a podcast and being able to pick up where you left off it very useful, I've also noticed another, annoying change.
I have my iPod preferences set in iTunes to download 'unplayed only'. This worked fine until I got my new iPod. Now, when I sync the iPod with iTunes, all the podcasts I've part-listened to get marked as played and hence wiped off my iPod when I update.
Does anyone know how to fix this without me having to change my settings to 'download checked only' and me having to manually manage my podcast downloads?
    Thanks, Nick

I think I found the answer!
(lease let me know if it's not the right place to put it)
I had the same problem where I would download and sync a whole pile of podcasts in itunes, sync using itunes, get all my favourite podcasts ready for my commute, then leave the house only to find that they were unavailable.
After reading the above I tried something that should fix the problem. here's what I did:
    1. uninstall the app
    2. reinstall the app
    3. download and sync podcasts using itunes and phone cable
    4. open the fresh install of app
    5. selected "don't sync..." from the inital alert box.
    6. double checked podcast app settings to make sure that sync was off, it only kept new podcast, and there was no auto downloading or checking
    7. checked to see if podcasts were all there and new (they were)
    8. turned off wi-fi and checked again to make sure the stupid cloud wasn't there (it wasn't)
    9. crossed my fingers that when I leave the house next I could listen to my favourite shows
Hope this works for you guys!
    Good luck.

    Same as my last reply:
If you have an Intel Mac you can update to Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and maybe higher if you have a Power PC (G4 or G5)  Mac you need a newer model Mac or a PC with XP or later.
    There is no work arround.

  • 5 times authorized & iTunes failure

I am having a significant problem with iTunes.
I recently got a new laptop because my old one was completely destroyed by a virus. I have had similiar computer failure many times since I first owned an iPod, so every time I would have to authorize it on the new computer. I downloaded iTunes today and authorized my iPod, and was informed that I have authorized it on 5 of 5 machines, so I can't authorize it any more times. However, then iTunes said it had been installed incorrectly and it needed to be re-installed; but if I reinstall it, I'll have to authorize my iPod again to retrieve my purchased songs, and according to iTunes I can't do that anymore. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.
p.s. I got the same error message from iTunes and reinstalled it 3 times, but it continued to say it was installed incorrectly. It was after the most recent reinstallation that I authorized my iPod.
please email at [email protected] or reply to this topic with advice. I'm extremely desperate!

If you've reached your limit of 5 you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes Store account and start over again. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
To deauthorise all computers associated with your account:
    1. Click iTunes Store in the Source pane.
    2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
    3. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
    4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

  • Massive ipod/itunes failure

First off my itunes has been working fine for the past many months since i got my new laptop.
just this past weekend i noticed i had aquired a virus. while i had this virus my itunes worked perfectly and as did my ipod. on saturday i ran tha norton virus scan and removed the virus. now that my computer is virus free itunes will not load unless i let it sit for close to 20 minutes. once loaded it works well but a bit "laggy". then once i plug in my ipod everything freezes solid and i wait another eternity. only to have a message pop up that sais quote "iPod Service module Faild". then i must reboot to do anything else?
at first i thought it was because i accidentally unplugged my ipod while it was stuck synching, but now i dont really know what the problem is and i have run a begillian and a half virus scans with everything i got, and uninstalled itunes a few times. since i cant connect my ipod without catastrophic failure i connot reset it either!
can someone please shed some light on this issue.
    Thanx in advanced
Ps. the ipod dose still work i just cant connect it to my comp.

I'd try completely removing all traces of iTunes and Quicktime and downloading/reinstalling the latest versions.

  • Custom Organizing of Itunes Library - Part 2

Hello, Jim - I am a brand-new discussion member, was sent here after 2 one-to-one sessions where the tutors couldn't tell me how to organize my iTunes music library. When I typed a "Search" for this, your comments to others indicated you're very knowledgeable about this, so I hope you see this.
I bought a terrabyte HD to which I have moved my iTunes. I wanted to begin moving the massive music library over there (all uncompressed, ergo the TB) and have begun this with a great deal of hassle. I have tried to organize the library the way my real-life library is organized on my shelves: artist (last name, for those of us who have an IQ above room temperature!), and then separately, the compilations/boxed sets that have various artists sometimes - concerts, operas, original cast and soundtrack recordings, things like this. The Apple Store kids told me I couldn't do this, :-O - find that hard to fathom! It isn't even the Dewey decimal system! Do you have any suggestions to help me that doesn't have me making ridiculous playlists I will never use? In addition to having stuff disorganized all over my library, I also find that cuts/tracks WITHIN a recording get imported all out of order.
Many thanks in advance for whatever you can suggest - apologies for being so long-winded, but it was a long ridiculous road getting here, and it's been extremely frustrating paying for these one-hour sessions with people who may not even have commercial recordings of their own!
    Cheers -

    Momus15,
As I said earlier, it's best to start your own thread rather than "Threadjack" on another's. It makes it difficult for the original poster to sort through answers to his own question. Also, since this question is already marked as "Answered", few others will read it. You can click on "Back to Topic List" below and then you'll find the "Post New Topic" right under the forum name at the top left. I also recommend glancing at the "Help and Terms of Use" link at the right under the Welcome Momus15.
You can find out a lot about iTunes by using the iTunes help menu. When the help window opens, there is a "Index" link at the far right. Looking at sorting you'll find:
Information about the items in your library, such as artist and other song information, is stored in the item's Info window (select an item and choose File > Get Info). You can use this information to sort the items in your library or create playlists. You can even change the information to suit your needs. For example, you might want to:
◼Group individual movements on a classical CD into one work by indicating the movement (for example, “Piano concerto in A Minor, Op. 54”) in the Grouping field.
◼Group songs that are part of a compilation together in your library by selecting the “Part of a compilation” checkbox. Then choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, and then select “Group compilations when browsing.”
◼Identify the individual artists on a tribute album in the Artist field, and then type “various” in the Album Artist field.
◼Create your own genre category by choosing Custom from the Genre pop-up menu.
◼Change the order in which tracks on a CD play by changing the numbers in the Track Number fields.
◼Create a Smart Playlist that includes only songs that are just the right speed for your workout by adding the number of beats per minute to the BPM field.
◼Identify a movie as a music video (click the Video tab and then choose Music Video from the Video Kind pop-up menu).
◼Click the Sorting tab and enter custom text to sort by.
You'll find more info about sorting in these articles:

  • Download Error. Itunes Failure.

I bought three songs from itunes, and none of them will download. can I get a refund, or what do I do???
And also, itunes crasshed on me. All my music dissapeared. I was able to get the CD's back on, but what about my purchased music?? How do I get it back? I had over $30 of purchased music on there and it's gone.

Windows XP   Windows XP   Family computer- four user accounts, msn internet, mcafee virus scan, norton antivirus

I bought three songs from itunes, and none of them will download.
Try the Check for Purchases command under the iTunes Advanced menu. If they continue to fail to download, post back with details (your version of iTunes, how you connect to the Internet, error messages, etc.) and we'll try to help further. One quick tip would be to disable any web/download accelerator you might have on your system. Those can cause problems downloading from the iTMS.
And also, itunes crasshed on me. All my music dissapeared. I was able to get the CD's back on, but what about my purchased music?? How do I get it back?
Are the tracks really gone from your hard drive? Or just not listed in iTunes any more? Check the iTunes Music folder (normally it will be in your My Documents -> My Music -> iTunes folder) and see if perchance the tracks are actually still here and just not showing in the iTunes library listing. If they are there, try dragging them to the iTunes window.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Skips Part of a song

    Hello,
When I play the song "William Tell Overture:Rossini", iTunes gets to about 2:52 then skips to the next song without playing the rest of this song. I can manually click in the area after 2:52 and play it but it just wont play by itself and it skips right there. By the way, this also happens on my mac so I assume its something wrong with iTunes or the song. Any help would be appreciated.
    Alex

I have been having the same problem with several songs. I have tried all of the 5Rs that Apple tells us to try, and the only thing that has worked is deleting the song from my ipod and moving it back. You see, the copy of the song in my library is fine; something happens when it gets moved to the ipod.
