ITunes file was received damaged

A file I purchased on ITunes was damaged. Sound breaks up for ~1/4 second at 1:24 into the track. How do I get a replacement?

In other words: your file associations are messed up.  See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-file-open-program#1TC=windows-8

  • Can't play iTune file I received by email in iTunes?

I received an iTune audio file by email but I can't play the file nor import the file into the library. If I click on the file it opens iTunes but nothing else happens. Any suggestions?

Did you bounce at 44.1kHz, 16 bit? AIFF or AAC or MP3 should be fine for iTunes, but sample rate and bit depth is important.

Not sure about playlists but I suspect they may be gone and will have to be recreated. There are two database files in the iTunes folder which contains that information. If you opened your library and it was empty, then those database files may have been rewritten without the playlists. With the actual music, it is still on the drive and you need to re-add it, but with the playlists, they may have been overwritten unfortunately.
Which is why it is a good idea to back up those two database files occasionally somewhere outside the iTunes folder.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Obviously your download was not successful.
What is your operating system?  How exactly do you download such files?

When you installed iTunes on your work computer, then connected your iPad to that computer, it wiped what was on the iPad, then put the iTunes library (nothing) from the work computer onto the iPad. You can try copying the iTunes folder from your home computer over to your work computer, but since the apps were bought with a different account, they may not load or update properly.

  • Using Maverick, error message: Adobe Reader could not open '***.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

Receiving error message using current Maverick version: "Adobe Reader could not open '***.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).".  Is fix the same as on previous OS versions?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Repairing damaged itunes files

Hi, not sure what happened but i went into my itunes one morninging and found my library file was damaged and a new one was in place. the new one only had a few of my songs... i lost play lists and almost all my music. any way to repair the old damaged file and get my play lists and music back? PS I have minimal computer knowledge.. Thank Q !

I'd love to know an answer to this one too. Better yet, is there any reason why iTunes just decides to randomly corrupt the library in the first place? It's really getting to be extremely annoying dealing with this once every handful of starts, especially when I have to resync my iPod up with a "new library" each time.

  • Receive "Damaged File" error when trying to open a fillable form from website

When our users try to access a fillable form they now receive the attached error message. The file is not damaged however. I can send the form viai e mail and it works fine. Any ideas?

    Hello,
The PDF is a fillable form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle. It is a rather large file (1800 kb). It lives (was uploaded) on our internal website, which is WordPress. It is accessed as a link. It worked just fine until yesterday. We did come up with a temporary solution, which is to have the form reside on a public drive, and then I linked to it from our web page. The form will open in IE, but not through Chrome or FireFox. Chrome asks for plug in updates. Our company does support Chrome and IE, but the majority of our users use IE.

  • My itunes library was damaged and lost most of my songs and playlists

last night my itunes was working fine, but today when i tried to open itunes, it said that my itunes library was damaged and most of my songs and playlists were gone.
i tried re-creating my itunes library, but it didnt help at all.
i did not back up my itunes library.
how do i get my songs and playlists back?
please help! i'm really really desperate to get all the stuff back ):

There are a few things to try.
Make a copy of the one named damaged, and rename it to iTunesLibrary.itl
Look in the Previous iTunes Folder and see if one of those has a fairly recent date.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
For any ITL file you find, you can use the shift-start option while opening itunes to see if it give s you any joy.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/8.1/en/15502.html
And of course, going forward, make sure to do regular backups of that ITL file!

  • I received a gift card and when I redeemed it an error message said that I had some itunes files missing and that I needed to reinstall itunes.  Will I still have all my credits when I download itunes?

I received an online gift card for Father's Day.  When I tried to redeem the gift then I received a error message saying I had some itune files missing and I needed to reinstall/download itunes.  Will I still have my previous purchase credits after downloading and reistalling itunes?

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

  • Mac won't open some files MasterPlan.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

I had this problem of not being able to open some files a couple of years ago and eventually was able to fix it but i can't remember how. Any help would be grateful.

The following document should help: Error: Adobe Reader could not open '*.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and was not correctly decoded.)
