Itunes freezes and wont connect to internet
Everytime I open iTunes it loads, tries to connect to internet then freezes. I've tried (many times) using Troubleshooter and it says that theres no internet connection but there is, every other site I go to loads perfectly and outlook opens and collects email so its not the wi-wi connection - HELP!!!!
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Itunes freezes and wont close.
itunes opens as normal but refuses to shut down.
it starts not responding and has to be shut down through task manager.
sometimes it keeps re-opening if it has been used before in the same session.
other people i know using itunes have been experiencing similair problems.
i have tried troubleshooting it and re-installing it.
helpful suggestions would be appreciated!.
thanks.(:If you are using NOD32 see this article:

Freeze on closing has also been associated with the bonjour service.
This article tells you about the Bonjour service and how to turn it off as a test:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306304
If you don't need Bonjour and it is causing the problem, you can uninstall it and iTunes will still work except for the features requiring Bonjour.
If that doesn’t work some people have found that uninstalling Apple Mobile Device support works. iTunes works OK without it, but it is required for the iPhone or Touch. -
My ipad mini is locked and says to connect to itunes. It wont connect to itunes via usb cable or the internet for a remote wipe, any suggestions on how to recover?
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY. -

It sounds like your iPhone is not being recognized in iTunes by your computer. The following Knowledge Base article provides some great, in-depth steps for troubleshooting that issue:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
If after following the above steps, the issue persists, then the following article helps with completing the update/restore:

Hi my mini ipad has locked me out and says connect to Itunes but it wont connect to it
Try:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information. -

Jailbreaking
Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.

Have disabled IE on windows pc and am using Firefox as browser. iTunes now says cannot connect to internet even though Firefox working: suggestions?
There is a plugin for Firefox - see here
http://latestversionplugin.com/current-version-plugin-itunes-application-detecto r.html
It should be installed automatically if you install iTunes, but I guess when you installed iTunes you didn't have Firefox. Just reinstall iTunes and it should work OK (your iTunes library will not be affected) -
