Itunes freezes computer when i try to sync iphone4s

I have replaced my IPhone3 for IPhone4s. When I try to sync IPhone4S my itunes freezes computer. Have to control/alt/delete and sometimes shut down computer. When it does start to sync it automatically goes to backing up phone and will go to step 2 of 6 and freeze. Help?

I am having the same exact issue with my new 4S....hoping someone can help!!

You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library. If you sync the iPod to another library, such as another computer, iTunes will erase the iPod.
Just continue to sync with the other computer.

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like your iPhone is not recognzied in iTunes when you connect it to back it up, or update the device. I would try the troubleshooting in either of these 2 articles depending on what operating system you have:

Since I updated iTunes locks up when I try to sync.

I have an old 5th Gen iPod classic and made the mistake of updating iTunes. Now when I try to sync iTunes
totally freezes...I can't even end task it and have to cut power to close it. It is obviously a problem with the iTunes
software since the ipod still plays fine. I just can't load any more music on it and Apple ***** for support. Last time
I buy one of these. Anyways, does anyone know where to get older iTunes Software?

The only way to gat an older copy of iTunes is through a third party site. Try to Google some. Hope this helps.

I restarted itunes and tried again (based on a similar question/solution from 2012).
I don't get the error message anymore, but it's really sort of odd that after step one of sync, it looks as if sync stopped, and then all of a sudden you see step 4 of sync.
Also before the upgrade I had 7+ gigs of space free and after the upgrade I have 10 gigs free. seems like something is amiss, but it's not like I have anyway of determining that.

If your phone is jailbroken, we can't help you, as already stated.
If you're new to this and you're trying to download apps to put on your phone and it is NOT jailbroken, you can't do that.
You must go through the iTunes app store.

Yes.
If you copied everything from your old computer to your new one, as you should always do, then the content will be put right back when you sync.

My Itunes has started freezing when I try to update my Ipod by syncing.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
It starts syncing songs then feezes and the whole computer is locked!

Just took out the book from the library "Sams Teach Yourself itunes 10 in 10 minutes" by Brad Miser.
Basics for problems syncing:
-restart computer
-make sure device is not out if power
-try a different usb port...BTW....I contaminated a usb port by someone spilling drink on the usb port end of my ipod cord...bad...
-run apple's web-based device assistant

I had to reinstall itunes onto the original laptop I synced my phone to and when I try to remove some apps to provide space for an iOS update, I get the error that "apps installed on iPhone can not be determined". Help...

Why is my iTunes freezing up when i try to use the podcast list?

I have iTunes 64bit (latest version) running on Windows 7 64bit. Whenever i try to manage my podcasts in iTunes or select the podcast tab to sync them to my iPhone or iPod Nano, iTunes completely freezes. My only solution at that point is to force close iTunes as no matter how long i leave it, it won't come good on its own.
I reinstalled Windows completely in order to try and solve the problem, but no luck. Even after a reinstall, it still does it.
