Itunes freezes continually and takes out Acrobat as well...any ideas?

I recently upgraded my Acrobat to version 7 Professional. I also took the automatic update of Itunes. Ever since doing this, I have had total grief with Itunes as it simply freezes for no apparent reason. There appears to be no consistency with the timing of the freeze - sometimes it happens within minutes, other times it may take an hour or more. When it freezes I could not quit Itunes - even via Ctrl Alt delete. I actually had to reboot the PC. More recently I did a clean install on my XP. Everything ran beautifully and and it also allowed me to install an older version of Itunes (6.04). This version performed better but it still hangs. The difference is that I can at least quit the program without having to reboot. However, once the problem occurs it also takes Acrobat out and I cannot launch the program. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I raise the point on Adobe acrobat because I read somewhere that there was a potential conflict with version 7 and the most current vesion of Itunes. I'd really like to solve this problem as it has pretty much made my itunes useless. Cheers - kevin

Since you did a clean install from CD or a partition of windows, you need to goto Microsofts Windows update to update windows. Now they have done some reqrganizing of there updates there, but it use to be things like Direct X and other important things were actually under "Optional updates" so when you go there hit the custom button so you get a full list of your updates.
Goto the PC MAKers site and download updates/drivers for your model of PC. Some brands, especailly HP, has issues with iTunes after doing a restore or clean install and they offer updates/patches
After all that goto control panel>add and remove and uninstall iTUnes AND Quicktime. Disable antivirus and security programs THEN goto apple.com and download/install iTunes again.
