ITunes freezes if I Click burn or burn tab in preferences

Whenever I click burn or the burn tab under advance in preferences iTunes freezes and I have to use the task manager to close and re-boot. I am able to import without a problem at all. Also, when I tried to do the CD-Diagnostics test, it froze too. I am not sure where to go next as I have tried re-installing multiple times.

(1)JUST BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW AND CAN NOT FIX THE ISSUE IS NO REASON TO GET STUPID WITH ME.
(2) THE REASON I AM USING THIS THREAD YOU POPASS (NO NOT A MISS SPELLING) PUNK. IS BECAUSE I AM NEW TO ITUNES I FIGURED THEIR MIGHT BE SOME PEOPLE THAT WORKED FOR ITUNES TO LATCH ON AND FIGURE THIS OUT, BUT IT IS OBVIOUS YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. IF YOU DID YOU WOULD HAVE JUMPED RIGHT ON IT.
I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT AS LONG AS I HAVE A BLANK CD IN BAY 2 BEFORE I OPEN ITUNES. WITH OUT A BLANK IN TRAY 2 AS SOON AS I CLICK EDIT, PREFERENCE, BURNING ADVANCE TAB THEN BURN MY MACHINE LOCKS UP ONLY IN ITUNES AND DRIVE 2 IS ALSO LOCKED UP IT WILL NOT EJECT CD OR ANYTHING. AS WILL CLICKING BURN IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF ITUNES I CAN STILL DO OTHER FUNCTIONS ON THE COMPUTER, BUT TO GET THE DRIVE BACK OR TO CLOSE ITUNES I HALF NO CHOICE BUT TO POWER MY MACHINE DOWN. YES THE PROBLEM IS PROBABLY CONFLICTING SOFTWARE THAT I TUNES DID NOT DO AS THOROUGH OF A JOB AS THE SHOULD HAVE BEFORE THEY RELEASED THEIR SOFTWARE.
I ONLY CAN SAY TO Vicasey TO TRY AND PUT A BLANK CD IN THE DRIVE 2 AND TRY IT. IF ITUNES STILL LOCKS UP THEN CLOSE EVERYTHING OUT IN THE SYS TRAY EITHER THROUGH THE START, MSCONFIG OR JUST CLOSING EACH ITEM OUT ONE AT A TIME TO FIND OUT WITCH SOFTWARE IS CONFLICTING, OR ITUNES AGAIN NEEDS TO DO THEIR JOB AND PUT OUT A UPDATE FOR THE DRIVE'S WE ARE USING SO THEIR SOFTWARE WILL WORK LIKE IT SHOULD BEFORE THE RELEASED THEIR CRAP.

ITunes freezes when I click burn disc

I've been a fan of iTunes since it came out, however, it's pretty worthless if I can't play my music in my car. I haven't been able to burn CDs for quite a while now. I can't pinpoint exactly when it stopped burning CDs but someone suggested that it was because of something in Windows Service Pack 2. I don't know. When I click burn disc, iTunes immediately freezes and I have to close it in the task manager. Also, if I go to edit preferences, and click on the burning tab, iTunes freezes, same situation. If anyone has any ideas how to remedy the problem, would you please let me know. I've already done two clean reinstalls to no avail.

drat. i was hoping that you had one of the Dell "two minute" hangs, which often seemed to be cleared up by heading to Dell to stock up on recent updates.
how about the rest of your CD diagnostics? have you followed up on any other recommendations made about checking your chipset or video driver or so forth?

ITunes freezes when I click on "burn" - CD diagnostics attached

iTunes freezes when I click on "burn" CD, or when I click on the "burning" tab in Edit, Properties, Advanced. I have to then use Task Manager to get out of iTunes then.

My system has all of the updates and drivers. The problem stated when I upgraded iTunes.
Are you suggesting that because of that, I need to upgrade to Windows XP?
Many people are having the same problem as I, and they already have Windows XP....so I doubt that is the problem.
My question is:
Where can I find an older revision of iTunes? At least then we could use our burners until apple fixes this bug, and then upgrade.

My itunes freezes when I attempt to burn CD's. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes with no change. I have attempted to update CD/DVD burner drivers. No luck any advice?

I am trying to burn an audio CD. Every time I try, it appears to burn on my lap top, although when played back in a car, or other CD player, it hasn't actually worked. After reading up on it, I hve discvered there is no burning button under preferences on itunes. How do I get this? Please help!

The burning preferences were moved out of the Preferences menu several releases ago. Now, you can set them in the dialog that comes up when you select "Burn Playlist to Disc."
If the CD does not work, there are several possible causes. Try the following:
Make sure you are using CD-R blanks, not CD-RW. The latter frequently have problems in regular CD players.
Make sure you have selected to burn an Audio CD (not MP3 CD or Data CD).
Burn an audio CD with some other program on your computer, to make sure your CD drive is OK.
In iTunes, use a lower burning speed, and also try a different brand of CD-R blank.

ITunes freezes when I click on "Play Movie"

In the newer version of iTunes, there is no Burn tab in the preferences. If you are trying to burn a CD take a look at this article.

Everytime I attempt to burn a cd in iTunes, it freezes. it gets just passed the checking playlists part, and then it freezes, does anyone know how to fix this? cuz its a downright pain in my behind!

I have seen this problem in other posts, but has anyone found a solution?? Or are we just waiting for apple to come up with something?? I didn't have a problem burning until I updated. Can I get rid of the update??

ITunes freezes when I click on Edit | Preferences

It only freezes if another user is logged onto the computer; if I log off the other user, it doesn't freeze when I select Edit | Preferences.
I have Prevent...from syncing automatically checked.
I have tried deleting preferences xml file.
Windows 7 64-bit
iTunes version 10.6.0.40

I am experiencing the exact same issue as doteddy. Additionally, I am not able to sync an iPod on any account other than the first account that is logged in.
For example:
Boot Win 7 64 bit;
Log into Account "A";
I can access iTunes Preferences and sync an iPod Touch without any issue;
Close iTunes in Account "A";
Switch User and Log into Account "B" (note Account "A" is still logged, but I have switch over to using Account "B";
I am unable to access Preferences in Account "B" and I am unable to sync an iPod on Account "B";
Log out of Account "B";
Log out of Account "A";
Log back into Account "B";
Now that I am only logged into Account "B" I can access Preferences and Sync the iPod Touch on Account "B";
I have spent five hours trying to resolve this issue, unsucessfully. I have tried many solutions suggested by others with similar problems, but to no avail. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired iTunes several times. I have also tried creating new user accounts and using alternate accounts. The problem doesn't seem to be associated with specific user accounts; rather it is associated with being logged into more than one account simultaneously.
The problem is fully repeatable on my Win 7 64 bit system with iTunes 10.6.1.7 installed.
Note: the accounts that I am using (i.e. account "A" and account "B") have different security privileges. While I don't think this is material to the issue, I mention this just in case.

Itunes freezes when burning CDs

Similar post to others here. Since upgrade to IT 6, Itunes freezes when trying to burn some CDs. IT shows as "not-responding" in task manager. Seems to happen when burning CDs with newly downloaded tracks, perhaps in combination with imported tracks. I've tried several suggestions posted here.
- I uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes and Quicktime
- Installed updated BIOS, chipset, and CD R drivers
No luck.
Sometimes if I wait 3-5 minutes it will start the burn. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Log follows.

first let's try a
b repair install.
go to your add/remove programs, select itunes, click "change/remove" and then select "repair".

How to fix freeze/lock ups when opening Burn tab under iTunes Preferences

Played around the past few nights with two PC's with the same problem after upgrading to iTunes 6.0. Would open burn tab under preferences and promptly lock up iTunes. Thought it was a driver problem, etc... Thanks to Toonz, here is what solved it simply for me on both PC's:
Run iTunes Help, CD Diagnostics, Run "CD diagnostics" and save output file from CD diagnostics somewhere on your PC (not even sure it's necessary to save file) and you should be able to view your burner tab and the CD/DVD drives preferences. Seems that iTunes CD diagnostics file gets corrupted, and needs updating after updating iTunes.

No burn tab in my itunes

If I insert a blank cd I get the pop-up..so it's obviously reading my disc player.. but there is no burn tab at the bottom of iTunes. No burn tab in preferences and no burn selection if right clicking on the album to be burned.

Anyone know why this is?

As you can see from the pictures.. that is a playlist as far as I know and everything is checked. the pictures also show that I did right click it. There are absolutely no burn settings and no burn options available. I can burn fine from other programs like winamp.. I just don't want to have to go through the hassle of reorganizing everything in winamp like I already have it organized on i-Tunes. I have no problem importing cd's so connectivity isn't the problem.
If I'm doing something wrong please post a picture of what your burn settings look like so I have something to compare to.

Why does the new Itunes freeze/do nothing when i click on my Ipod touch icon ?

Why does the new Itunes freeze when i click on my Ipod touch icon to manage my content? All buttones, video, tv, info, music, they all do nothing. i was only able to sync by bringing up the old sidebar. Is this a software glitch, or am i missing a step? I just spent two days reorganizing and labeling all my music for the new itunes, and had to restore my ipod so i could upload my new library. i know what is supposed to come up when you click on the music or info tabs, but nothing happens, only the eject button works. whats going on?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer with iTunes with the USB connector. iTunes should open and give you instructions as to what to do. Whatyou need to need to do is to restore the iPod via iTunes.
