ITunes Freezes on Loading in Windows 7

My issue has been slightly different than some of the others I've seen. I'm running iTunes 9 in Windows 7 Home Premium. Suddenly, about a week or so ago, it stopped responding.
iTunes loads fine, shows my music and apps, recognizes (sort of) my iPod Touch, but in less than 5 seconds stops responding/freezes, requiring me to stop it through the task manager.
We checked through MSCONFIG - it's ONLY iTunes. I uninstalled some cell phone software - iTunes worked ONCE then started freezing again. It won't update my iPod. It won't run my music. I can't access ANYTHING in iTunes.
I've read a LOT of the forums and stuff - I can't find any answers. Can anyone here help me?

I'm using the 64 bit version of windows 7. I tried reinstalling, and using the 32 bit version as well. I finally downgraded to 8.2.1 (64 bit) and it seems to be working fine.

  • ITunes 9 not loading on Windows 7 64 bit

I have iTunes 9.0.2 for Windows 64 installed on my laptop. It was working fine, but now it isn't loading. I have searched and tried several things so far. I've uninstalled everything apple and reinstalled it. I removed all iTunes folders and rebooted before retinstalling iTunes. I installed it as administrator. I've also played with the compatibility options as well. Any ideas of how to get it to work?

I have had a similar problem today. Sorted it tho!!Follow this and it should work.
Go to start menu and click RUN (bottom RHS) in the address bar type- msconfig press return. This will open a new window, click on selective start up, click 'apply' now click on the services tab and scroll down to 'Bonjour Service' deselect this box then click 'apply' then click OK. A box will now ask you if you want to restart, click restart. Once the computer restarts it should work. I had to deselect each item in turn until iTunes worked so this took me hours, however, it should be much quicker for you!
    Good luck

  • ITunes Won't Load on Windows 7

ITunes won't load since the last update.  I tried updating to the new beta version, and it still won't load.  I have lost my contacts on my iPhone and now I can't load iTunes.  I do have another computer running an older version of iTunes and would like to transfer my contacts file to the older computer and then sync my iPhone to that computer.  Can someone please help me with transfering my contacts file to the other computer?  It would be nice if iTunes would load on this computer, the one I use all the time but it seems this problem is not being addressed.  Do Apple personnel only address these problems if you pay them for support, or do they fix their software and help their customers?  Here is the error message I get, and as you can see, iTunes is not loading, just giving the error message:
The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color scheme to Windows 7 basic.
    Program: iTunes
    Publisher: Apple Inc.
    Process Identifier (PID): 4652
Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running.
iTunes never starts after this message.  I've checked Windows Task Manager to see what programs are running.  I've tried using the iTune comaptibility option but that didn't change anything.  iTunes has always worked, now nothing.  Nothing happens when I plug in my iPhone, or when I start iTunes.  I just want my contacts, that's all!!!  I had always thought I was safe because I always backed up my phone -- boy was i wrong.

It doesn't do anything, and QuickTime doesn't do anything either.
many thanks. In recent times, the error-message-free launch failures of both iTunes and QuickTime have often been indicating that some application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • ITunes won't load after windows update

Just did the latest automatic backup in Windows 7, and noe iTunes won't load. It keeps "checking" my library then I get a Windows message that iTunes is shutting down.
    Anyone else getting this?

I think iTunes has lost itself!
    So many different issues,
Hopefully it will be fixed soon

  • ITunes won't load on Windows 7 after the last update

iTunes won't load on my Windows 7 machine after the last update. There is no error, but the window opens and says "Checking iTunes library" for a while, and then pops up iTunes. When it comes up, I can see it but it won't load or let me interact with it. The window I can see is my podcast library and it suggests it's accessing the iTunes Store. Right clicking, alt-tabbing seem to have no effect, and I can only shut it down in Task Manager. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck (...twice). Any other ideas?

  • 10.6 iTunes won't load on Windows Vista

I allowed Itunes to upgrade to the newest version available.  Now I am in real trouble.  Itunes will not load period.  Have tried many fixes suggested.  Nothing has worked so far.
I have an ipod and an iphone, each using different libraries.  I don't know how to tell the libraries apart.  They did have different names, but now I can't find them again.
First of all I have to get itunes running.  I have tried using an older version, no luck.  I have tried deletinge every reference to itunes, no luck either.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 10 times.
    Please help.

  • ITunes will not load in Windows

I've been trying to load iTunes on my XP PC and it wont work. I try going into system processes and it says iTunes is running a process (not window but process) and isn't loading any window at all. I try ending the process and restarting it, but it wont end the iTunes.exe process. If it helps, this has all started since I download the update for iTunes from 6.04 to 6.05 I believe. Thank you.
      Windows XP

OK, so here is the story.
    1) I downloaded the new version of iTunes last night.
    2) It worked fine then
    3) It will not show up as a window when I try to open it, but when I do CTRLALTDELETE, it shows up in the Processes tab but not in the Application tab.
    4) I re-downloaded the installer and re-installed it.
    5) That did nothing.
    6) I kept trying to end the iTunes.exe process in the Processes tab, but to no avail.
    7) I went here and looked for help.
    8) I tried turing off the anti-virus and all that stuff, and it didn't help.
    9) I'm back here, still looking for help.

  • ITunes freezes when loading new songs to iPod

I have a 60 gig video iPod. I am running the latest version of iTunes with a library of 21886 songs (73 days).
Recently, iTunes has been unable to load new songs to the iPod. It simply freezes while loading the new songs.
I tried deleting and reinstalling iTunes, but this didn't resolve the problem. (The uninstall was performed using the iTunes software, so it continued to recognize the previously existing music library upon reinstall).
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix the problem?

FIrst goto control panel>add and remove and uninstall iTUnes AND quicktime there. DIsable antivirus and download/install the latest version off apple.com

  • ITunes Freezes when Syncing on Windows 7 SP1

iTunes seems to freeze imediatly when plugging in my iPhone 4, and will unfreeze soon as I unplug it. This started happening soon as I upgraded to SP1 on Windows 7.
There seem to be many many threads on this and most eventually come to the conclusion that iTunes is not fully compatible with Windows 7 SP1. Calling tech support just told me that it wasnt a known issue.
Ive tested this on 2 seperate systems with 2 seperate fresh installs of Windows 7.
With a Fresh install of Windows 7 and iTunes, synching works.
Install SP1, synching still works for the most part
Install any of these AV's: Microsoft Security Essentials, Nod32 (v4 or 5) or Kaspersky and Syncing is broken. (Trend Micro Titanium worked)
If you uninstall SP1 everything works fine, and compatibility mode fixes it for the most part too. Too many top AV's including Microsofts own are effected by this that it is not a conflict/fault on their part. Some people dont seem to need the AV part of the equation to run into this issue.
Many other reports are listed in the following thread and ones in the "More Like This" section to the right of it. Other AV's causing conflicts since SP1 are listed too.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2762816?start=0&tstart=0
The Freezing apon connection of an iPhone (then unfreezing iTunes soon as its removed) has been something that would happen to me very rarley (like once a month, if that) since my 3gs, but now it happens every time. It seems SP1 adgitated that already existing bug in iTunes.
Anyone using Windows 7 SP1 and iTunes with an iPhone or iPod Touch with or without issue? (Standard iPods seem to not be effected) What AV (if any) are you using?

Have you tried iTunes 10.4.1.10? That seems to have fixed it for me when nothing else did. (Of course, I can't be sure that was what fixed it. I just noticed that one day the problem had gone away when nothing else worked, and it seemed to coincide with the upgrade to 10.4.1.)
And it is too a known issue. Sigh. I worked with support on this over the course of a couple of months, sent them logs, spent hours on the phone, etc. I know the engineers knew about it. Whether they ever figured out the cause is another matter.

  • Itunes freezes the computer on windows 7 64bit pro

    Hello,
no matter what i do, itunes always makes my computer freeze. it happens by itself from time to times but after connecting my iphone it happens within 5 mins.
i tried reinstalling itunes, closing AVG, even format my computer and start with a brand new install of windows.
in the event viewer i get this msg: "WSARecvMsg failed (10022)" from the Bonjour service.
    how do i solve it?
    thanx in advance

    Hi rapmyice!
While you mentioned that you have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, there is a specific order of steps that need to be taken when uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and related components. Information on this process can be found here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
If you are still having issues after completely and thoroughly uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all related components, you may need to re-create your library by following the steps in the link below:

  • HELP! iTunes won't load, gives Windows - No Disk error

    This is so aggravating!
Last week I purchased $100 worth of audio books to put on my iPod for a vacation. Immediately iTunes wanted me to upgrade to 5.0, so I did. That's where the nightmare began.
With both versions, when I click on the iTunes icon (or the menu item), I get the license agreement, click "agree", then wait a moment before getting the Windows - No Disk error telling me to put a disk in "the drive" (it doesn't specify which drive). The message doesn't go away no matter how many times I click, or how fast, (I've gone into the hundreds). The only way I can get rid of it is to go into control/alt/delete and cancel the iTunes.exe process.
I have now spent about 20 hours trying everything I've seen on all the boards. I have uninstalled using Windows uninstaller; I've reinstalled standalone quicktime; I've installed with the ethernet cord disconnected and the USB's disconnected (including external hard drive); I've made sure all firewalls, etc. were off (McAfee, not Norton). I've done everything but voodoo.
I can roll back to iTunes 4.9 but it won't let me access my very expensive iTunes music and books - it just tries to take me to the music store and tells me to upgrade to 6.0!!!!!
    Can someone please help?!

    hi scottymac!
    header; iTunes.exe - No disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk\DR5.
    hmmm. actually, i've had
    b mixed
results when trying to fix this one, and you're actually the first person who's reported only getting it
    b some
of the time (that i'm aware of).
so if you don't mind, let's try doing some basic research.
    (1) head into your "My Computer" while you've got the ipod plugged in. what drives are being assigned to what drive letters? for reference purposes, here's a screenshot of my "My Computer" window:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1HtsRhQOZw6zixPuie63kEUx4RNKvP0
(your ipod may not show up in this window. don't panic.)
do you get the message when you're in this configuration?
    (2) could you head into your itunes "Advanced-General" subtab and take a screenshot of that for us? there's instructions on how to do that given here:

  • Itunes will not load using windows 7 64 bit

I have tried everything I know, including uninstall, reinstall, etc. I downloaded Itunes for 64 bit, set it up, and it will not open. I get the hour glass, and then nothing. Anyone have an idea as to a resolution? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the exact same problem, I click the iTunes icon, and it acts like it will open but then nothing happens. I left it once and after 7 minutes it finally opened. I cannot find any information on why this is happening. My library is around 45GB total, which isn't really that much.
I'm on Windows 7 x64 w/ SP1 and fully updated. Running newest version of iTunes x64. My system is an HP dv6-1134ca w/ Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 750GB WD Scorpio Black @ 7200 and 4GB DDR2 PC6400 RAM. I have an iPhone 3GS 8GB that syncs with this PC.
Someone from Apple should assist with this issue as I did not experience this problem until I recently reinstalled my OS.
