ITunes Freezes on Shutdown - "Program Not Responding" error

Hi, newbie here.
Running Windows XP and iTunes 7.7
When I try to close iTunes it just freezes and I have to use the Windows Task Manager to quit the program.
What is the fix for this ?
Any help appreciated.

Freeze on closing has also been associated with the bonjour service.

If you don't need Bonjour and it is causing the problem, you can uninstall it and iTunes will still work except for the features requiring Bonjour.

I keep getting 'program not responding' errors.

everything runs fine for about 10 mins then crashes (white screen). i have to either sit and wait till it catches up (about 90 secs) or force close the program and re-open it. doesn't seem to be pattern but, does seem to happen the first time i use a drop down menu on a new page. it also happens no matter what site i am on or what game i am playing (crashed twice so far trying to type this as well). this has only started since updated to version 5 and dont really want to go back to an older version if it can be helped. as far as i can tell everything is upto date. i have tried uninstall and reinstalled it. also tried install via IE as was told this might act as an update.

Itunes program not responding

My Itunes program is not responding. Any ideas what I need to do to fix the problem?

I´ll take my chances and reply to this as I have exactly the same problem.
(1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?
No, F-secure AV 2006. Still, I disabled it
(2) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
Launching QT before iTunes works well. No problem. Launching QT after I´ve tried to launch iTunes, nothing happens.
All the processes remains under the processes tab.
The itunes.exe is impossible to kill though. I can remove any other process but this one is impossible.
I tried reboot, disabled the internet connection and my anti-virus but it still refuses to start. I just get the hour clock, that disappears and then...nothing. Not even an error message.
Oh, I forgot: after I´ve tried to start iTunes I can´t access Explorer. Program not responding. So I must reboot after every attempt to resolve the problem.

Can you please let us know the following:
- Operating System;
- Complete version of Acrobat installed;
- Experiencing this issue with a particular file or all PDF files;
- Experiencing this issue while performing a particular task or with any task;
- Files are saved on the local machine or on a share drive;
- Launch Acrobat in Safe Mode and then check the issue. Hold 'Shift' key and launch Acrobat, and then check the issue.

"Program Not Responding" and cannot shutdown the computer? Help?

I have a TouchSmart tx2, upgraded from Vista to Win 7 Ultimate, 32-bit. The BIOS version is F.03, Released 2008 11 25. My computer will not shut down...I get a blank screen and the constant whirrrrrr of the hard drive but it will not shut down and I am forced to do a hard shut down and restart in SAFE mode. Further, I get the "Program not responding" problem 6 to 7 times a day while running Outlook, and several other programs. I'm not sure what to do at this point? Help?

Equium 1000-337 not responding error

Since Day 1 I have suffered with regular "not responding" errors with this machine, which usually means the PC freezes and has to be turned off.
It seems any program or event will trigger it, even trying to open something weedy like notepad.
Vista Home Premium, 1024 Mb RAM.
Has anyone else found this? I nearly smashed the thing to pieces this morning so now I'm looking for a more moderate approach...
Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Usually the not responding" errors happens due to the busy and stressed CPU.
I dont know how many applications and programs run on your OS simultaneously but if the CPU is busy it could happens that the running program has to wait and therefore it does not response.
I see you have installed the Vista on this computer. You should know that this OS needs much more resources as an early MS OS and I really dont wonder that such not responding" errors appears on the notebook with only 1024MB of memory.
In my opinion you shouldnt run many applications simultaneously and if possible try to upgrade the memory if you want to run Vista smoothly.

I'm having a problem with my imac when i log in everything freezes up i have managed to get the activity monitor working before mail and safari get stuck with the dreaded spinning ball ( they both open at log in ) .The monitor eventually comes up with the message program not responding.when I click on the finder it also comes up as not responding and I have to switch off with the power button. I have logged on in safe mode and gone into disk utility and there is no problem with the hard drive i have also repaired disk permissions and i am still having the same problem. When i log into my wifes account everything is working fine .I was wondering if anyone could help me!

Persistent Acrobat Reader (not responding) error

Good evening, my name is Tom and I'm new to this forum so please bear with me.
Since we took delivery of this Dell PC and I first loaded Adobe Acrobat Reader 10 it has never worked. I'm running Windows 7 and Norton 360. I estimate I have uninstalled and reloaded this program six or more times
Every time I try to use Acrobat Reader I have to go through the "Do you want to allow this program........." step to get past the firewall. Then a Reader window pops up and a small asterik-like icon in the gray space to the right of the document pane begins filling in from the 12 o-clock position. It usually stops filling in by the 6 O-clock position and then the "(Not Responding)" message shows up in the Acrobat Title Bar. Here is an example from earlier today, about 1830 hours UTC on Wednesday, 11 December 2013.
Meanwhile Task Manager is singing a different tune.
So, this begs the question, what is AcroRd32.exe*32 doing with two sessions, one with 348K of memory and 25% of my CPU and the other session using 00% of my CPU and 5,228K memory?This is the status since 1900 Hours UTC this date. It's now 0222 hours UTC on 12 December 2013 and I've run out of ideas.
I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions from the forum community.

Please remember I'm using Adobe Reader 11.0 not 10.
I unzipped your registry file and loaded it into this PC. Then I restarted this computer and launched Adobe Reader. This time the asterik-like icon completed 3/4 of a rotation before I saw the "(not responding)" error message. Also, I have two entries in Windows Task Manager, Processes tab. The first AcroRd32.exe *32 uses 00% CPU and 41,752K Memory. The second AcroRd32.exe *32 entry uses 25% of the CPU and 6,924K memory.
Thanks for providing me some progress toward solving this issue.

Programs Not Responding

I run an iMac, 2008, 2.66 Intel Core Duo Proc, 4 GB memory. I started having issues with the programs not responding and the internet slow. It was generally after 10 PM. The daytime seemed fine. I then installed Yosemite. It seems worse. I then purchased Clean My Mac and have cleaned it about 3 times. Now the problems are even in the afternoon. It affects my Microsoft for Mac programs, QuickBooks, iTunes, iPhoto, as well as the internet. I ran a systems report on the software log and things look suspicious. My neighbor has been hacked by someone in the neighborhood. I am wondering if I have. Or do I have a virus. Are these symptoms characteristic of a specific problem you know about? I also have a MacBook Pro with the same issues.

Illustrator 25% off the time "program not responding" for 35 seconds when network is active

Hi
My Client have 4 computers, all win7, running cs 5 or 6, the newest the cloudbased version.
The problem has been sinc upgrading from cs3.
"Program not responding" for 35 seconds, before loading the file on 1/4 of time.
It is not on specific files, and no patton.
it does'nt matter if the files are on network or saved local on Harddrive.
the sice does'nt matter.
Only switching of nic and wifi stops the problem.
I did try downloading other files (not made by my client), from the net, they do not trigger the problem.
What else then the Files can bee the problem? can anyone test my files to see what is wrong?

I have a very similar problem with my CS6 Ai on our company network. I sometimes use Illustrator for image heavy documents less than 10 pages. These have a lot of placed images.
It will freeze, say "not responding" and curser switches to blue spinner. Then about 15 sec later it unfreezes and I can work for another 60 sec or so, then repeat freeze, blue spinner, etc. Very annoying. When i unplug the network LAN cable the problem goes away and I sail along. I have tried relocating the Ai file to my desktop (not sure about the images).
Waiting on any feedback or help, our IS guys are getting stumped. I could switch to InDesign for this work but not my preference.

SCREENSAVERS AND PROGRAM NOT RESPONDING.

Whilst trying to change screensavers to holiday mobile i changed source to hardrive to try to import some photos .now the apple preloaded screensavers ken burns holiday mobile mosaic etc dont work and program dosnt respond just shows multicoloured spinning circle .
The only way to clear is to force quit which shows program not responding lettering of which is in a differient format to other programs in force quit box such as safari.
Can anyone help
