ITunes freezes on Sign In to iTunes Store - Windows 7 64 bit

In the last 48 hours I have not been able to use my iTunes software as it hangs immediately after launching.
I have tried a number of options to rectify the problem including Repairing the iTunes installation, Uninstalling/Reinstalling the program and System Restore to name a few. After some hours of searching I have established (after reading support.apple.com/kb/ts1717) that when I remove the Roaming Preference Files I am able to run iTunes however at this point it no longer automatically signs into the iTunes store. The problem arises as soon as I enter my user id and password the program becomes unresponsive.
I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions anyone could provide to help rectify the problem.
Thanks

Same problem.
Latest version of iTunes (10.5.2.11) and iCloud 1.0.2.17 installed. Only installed iCloud on the latest update.
iTunes frequently froze, so I deleted my roaming profile (having read of others having success by doing this).
iTunes now launches fine, downloads subscribed podcasts etc, I can access the iTunes store, but as soon as I try to log in using my apple id then itunes freezes and must be closed using task manager.
I'm using Windows 7 32bit.
I just tried launching the iCloud control panel and it froze up too. Uninstalling iCloud didn't seem to fix the problem.
I can buy apps etc through my ipad and iphone, so maybe I can use itunes without logging into the store, but frankly I wish I could ditch itunes as the interface for my iphone/ipad.

  • ITunes freezes then crash when accessing iTunes store

I have this problem since a couple of weeks ago.
When I try to go in the iTunes store, iTunes freezes, then it closes unexpectedly (it takes a couple of minutes to close).
I don't get an error message but it slows down my computer a lot.
    iTunes version 10.3
Using iPod Touch & iPhone 4 on it (crashes occur whenever my devices are connected or not)
    Windows XP (up-to-date)
Videocard NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (latest driver installed - 275.33)
Antivirus bundle : Norton 360 Premier Edition (up-to-date)
I tried searching for an answer, but the only things repeated as a solution is the "videocard driver" and mine is the latest NVIDIA version.
So I'm lost and, let's say, very unhappy as I cannot search or download anything.
    Any help would be welcome.

It seems that no one at Apple is willing to start working on this as I haven't had any feedback from them...
    This is disappointing.

  • ITunes freezes when signing in

Running iTunes 12. I can run it in Safe Mode, and I don't have any third-party plugins. This only happens when I sign in to iTunes, and whenever I sign out I can access it normally again.

    Hey Nerveri,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’ve done quite a bit of isolation and troubleshooting but iTunes continues to stop responding when signing in to the iTunes Store. Take a look at the article linked below, it provides a lot of great user specific and system wide troubleshooting suggestions.

  • ITunes Match on Windows 7 64 iTunes 10.5.2 64 -  - please sign in again itunes match has encountered an error. Please choose sign out and then sign in from the itunes store menu and try again.

Windows 7 64 itunes 10.5.2 64 - I receive the following error message when opening iTunes - please sign in again itunes match has encountered an error. Please choose sign out and then sign in from the itunes store menu and try again.
When I try to sign out iTunes freezes and I need to shut down windows entirely to get it to open again.
Has anybody been able to resolve this issue?

After many annoying sign-in-out-iTunes-match-activation problems I found an easy solution for me. When the iTunes Cloud symbol is broken (and I should sign in again) I just deactivate my notebooks (Windows 7) Wifi (with Fn+F5 for my Thinkpad). Then I call up the Itunes store and iTunes tells my that there is no connection to the internet (most probaply this step is not necessesary). After manual re-activation of my Wifi iTunes seems to re-establish the connection and the Cloud symbol signalizes that iTunes match does work, again.
    Hope, this helps.

  • Itunes freezes when i connect my ipod classic 120GB, please help

    hello,
    I got a problem with my itunes/ipod, I believe it's my ipod.
My Itunes freezes when i connect my ipod to my computer (windows 7 Professional, latest version of itunes),
it started when i've connected my ipod to itunes and I just plugged it out when it was syncronizing.
after that my whole content (music, pic's, video's) are deleted. The default stuff is the only thing what's left on it.
And now every time I connnect my ipod classic my itunes freezes. I've installed itunes on my new computer but it keeps doing nothing..
I've tried the support pages from apple but I just can't fix this problem, please help.

  • Itunes freezes if iphone is connected multiple times?

One of the many annoyances of my phone. Currently running windows vista with iso4 and the lastest version of itunes. For some reason I've found that when my computer first starts up my iphone connects to itunes fine, will sync, stay connected, everything is normal. But if I eject it and then attempt to plug it back in, itunes will freeze up and stop responding. I will then have to either close it via task manager, or unplug my iphone (as soon as phone is unplugged itunes resumes functioning normally). On the handful of occasions where I've waited out the itunes freeze, after 5-10 minutes itunes may start responding again but does not recognize my iphone and does not display it under "devices". During this time also, my iphone does not indicate that it is charging but indicates that it is connected (with the green battery showing up as my wallpaper). The only way to connect it again normally is to reboot my computer. What could be causing this?

    Here is the fix:
    1. If frozen iTunes is open and iPhone is connected, right-click the task bar and select Start Task Manager.
    2. Click on the Processes tab.
    3. Look for the process distnoted.exe *32 entry.
    4. Right-click and select End Process.
    5. iTunes will now unfreeze.
    6. Close iTunes and disconnect iPhone. Wait 15 seconds.
    7. Reconnect iPhone. iTunes will launch automaticallly like it should and your iPhone will begin to sync like it should.
There appears to be an incompatibility issue with Apple's distnoted.exe process and maybe 64-bit OS's. All I know is that this works everytime although there doesn't appear to be a permanent fix to this issue. You may have to repeat these steps everytime you reboot your computer or update iTunes.

  • ITunes Freezes on Windows 7

Has anyone experienced iTunes freezing up while on Windows 7? I just installed the newest version (10.2.1.1) and it has frozen twice.

iTunes freezes ALL THE TIME for me on Windows 7 -64 bit.  I have to kill the process in task manager and restart it.
Generally, this happens when I plug my iPad 2 in, without first starting iTunes.  Then iTunes "starts" and stays frozen.
It happens in other situations also, all when it appears that an "auto" process is initiated, rather than one I have initiated.
This is more annoying because one cannot do much of anything in moving stuff back and forth between the iPad and the computer without iTunes.  (Dropbox aside).

  • ITunes freezes after importing one cd and alters normal computer function

After I import one CD, my computer will not recognize any other cds I insert and itunes freezes. After I force itunes to quit, my computer continues to "act up" and will not retrieve any webpage information from the internet. If I try to restart itunes it fails to open and does not give me any sort of error message. I have to reboot my computer to resume normal function.
I did the remove and reinstall of Quicktime recommended in other discussions since those problems seemed similar to mine. However, it didn't do the trick.
I am running McAfee, not Norton.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
      Windows XP

Also having issues with similar problem. Also cannot burn CD's with new music purchased, however, old music works perfectly. I noticed that after purchase, there is also a return on the account purchasing FROM. DOn't know if this means that the music is no longer licensed, as it would seem that it is unpaid for at this time. Are you able to assist? This would be easier by phone, but no phone support available.

  • ITunes freezes everytime when I sign in to the iTunes Store

I have removed preference files, reinstalled iTunes and it still freezes when ever I sign into the iTune store to download anything.

Same, ever since i downloaded the latest version last week.

  • Itunes freezes on launch ever since signing up for iTunes Match

Ever since I signed up for iTunes Match, iTunes on my Mac Mini freezes up right after launch... Help!

Hi, I had a similar problem but in Windows.  The help page for that is at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717 and although I've searched, I can't find the equivalent for a Mac mini. Anyway, I'm posting because what worked for me was to delete the 'local' and 'roaming' profiles.  They are re-created automatically and iTunes then works fine.  But, as soon as you try to sign in to the iTunes store - BANG. It freezes every time and you have to delete those profiles again.
So I think this is a definite bug with iTunes that is linked to the sign-in process. Hence why it is affected by iTunes Match. I don't believe it's a memory issue; the problem is repeatable and no other applications are running. Do try running it without signing-in and see how you get on . . .
    Good luck.

  • ITunes freezes because of store download (?)

I've been trying for days to resolve a frustrating issue. Because of being disconnected from internet during a tv show download off of iTunes store, the downloading process didn't complete.
Since then, every time I sign on to iTunes, everything is ok for a few seconds, and then, when apparently the downloading continues for this tv show purchase, the entire iTunes program freezes.
I don't have but 3-5 seconds before it freezes so I can't do anything to access iTunes to attempt a resolution. I have iTunes 7.0.1
    Dell Insp 6000   Windows XP

Really? No one else has this problem?
    That's alarming..
