ITunes freezes when accepting download of new version

When I open iTunes (for Windows), it asks me if I want to download the new version, I click on "yes" and the program freezes. I use the task manager to close it. The program will re-open but opens "frozen" unless I re-boot. Any solutions?

Cannot connect to the itunes store. Just downloaded the new version.

i just downloaded the new version of itunes and cannot access the itunes store. I have seen other comments that other users have posted and they have had the same issues. i am hoping that it will start working within the next few days as other users have said. if anyone knows of any other suggestions as to what can do to fix this please let me know. i have already tried the suggestions that this website has given me and nothing works. if someone can please tell me if this has happened to them and if their itunes store is now working!!?? and how long did it take to start working again????

Unfortunately I have experienced the same thing, what possessed me to upgrade when the older version worked just fine I will never know. Apple instructions are great if you can understand what they are talking about...is there an itunes for dummies out there??
Having said all that, I ended up restoring my system under accessories, trying to go back to before the upgrade, but don't think I went back far enough. Am not quite sure when I actually made the upgrade and I could only go back a few days. But what did happen was I no longer got the "unable to connect to the store" message, I am connecting, but I have no pictures. The top part of the screen is all blacked out as is any place there is supposed to be a picture.
I also cannot listen to anything, nothing happens if I click on a song. I haven't tried to buy anything, so not sure if that works or not.
Any ideas?
I was dismayed to see that the previous posts were from the first part of March and it is now April. I as a new upgrader still ended up with similar problems. Doesn't Apple fix any of this stuff in a timely manner? A month is plenty of time to find a patch to take care of this.

ITunes freezes when I add a new mp4 video

My iTunes has started to freeze when I add a new MP4 video file to play through Apple TV 3.
This has only started today and is very annoying. All the latest updates are installed and I use an iMac 27" 2.7 Ghz core i5, 4gb ram and OS X 10.7.5, Lion
Any ideas

I have the same problem, I upgraded to the latest version but still the same problem. Please help.
By the way how do I downgrade to V.6?

I seem to have lost a lot of the cool features on iMovie when I downloaded the new version, Ken Burns effect, fonts, colors etc.

If I would have known this was going to happen, I would not have downloaded the new version...

Also, if you had it, the previous verson of iMovie (version 9) should have been left behind in your Applications folder.

upgrading to (or installing) a new version of iTunes will not do anything to your existing media files.

How do i delete an older version of itunes in order to download a newer version

just got an iphone4s and plugged it in to my pc and itunes I needed a newer version of itunes. Downloaded 10.5 and thought that fixed the problem. It did not. After the install it says the destination source is bad. Any help would be appreciated.

For the original poster (OP), try posing in the iTunes form since now you have an iTunes problem, not an iPod problem.

When I downloaded a new version of Firefox the old version was never deleted, and now I can't tell which is the new and how to delete the old.?

I have two Firefox versions on my laptop. One is 3.6.10 I believe and the other is some other version of 3.6. Why didn't it disappear when I downloaded one of your requests to update? Now I don't know how to delete the other one or even which one is the oldest?

If you mean that you see both version listed in Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs then you most likely only have the version with the highest number installed. You posted with a Firefox 3.6.6 user agent. It can happen that the updater didn't remove or updated the registry keys properly and left the old keys.

Firefox has shown me that I have several old plugins. I am sure that they are all taking up disc space on my hard drive. I still want these plugins, however, I should upgrade them. I can't get my iPhone 4s or my iPad 2 to sync with itunes on my pc. My very ancient ipod nano works fine. I get told that the version of itunes is too old. I have tried on 3 occasions to download the update, and while it doesn't say there has been a problem with the download I continue to get the same message. I do get a warning that itunes is not properly installed and that i won't be able to burn cds. I have tried uninstalling itunes completely and reinstalling but that doesn't work either.

Have you run windows update? That could prevent iTunes from properly installing. Also, try with your antiVirus and firewall disabled. What version of Windows are you running?
OS X is the operating system on the Mac.

It keeps saying I have to authorize my computer to get my music and apps back and it won't let me log on to itunes to do so. It says we could not complete your itunes store request, please try again later. this error code comes up: -42408. HELP!
