Itunes freezes when accessing gracenote

when i select multiple items for itunes to get cd track names, it freezes. when i only select one or two items at a time, it tells me that gracenote doesn't have any info for those tracks and puts an exclamation point next to the track. i only started having this problem when i updated to 7.3.2.6. any ideas on how to fix the problem?

I have the same problem (specifically when trying to download music) it is realllly grinding my gears.

This is on windows xp I had a problem where everytime i imported a audio cd on to itunes and all the songs have been transfered on to itunes, once i edject the cd itune freezes and the only way i could use it was to restart my pc. This happened everytime, i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled several times but same problem exists, i gave my pc a virus scan, cleaned registry, spyware scan, internet clean scan. I removed adobe player and shockwave but problem still exist.   untill i stumbled on MMJB file (music match juke box), everytime i restarted my computer this box appeared on the shut down seqence to end now, so when i uninstalled this file from the add and remove programmes hey presto problem solved.

  • TS1717 iTunes freezing when accessing Media  folder located on NAS

I'm running the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 (64bit)
    this
My Media is located on a QNAP TS412 NAS.
I have a desktop machine that accesses the Media without issue.
However, when I launch iTunes on my laptop after a short while the application will freeze.
If however, I point iTunes to a media folder on the local hard drive no problems are encountered.  Any ideas?

The following topics appear to relate to the same problem:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7559249#7559249
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7620447&#7620447
Like the poster in the second thread, I'm most disinclined to trash the folder as it has all my music from years of collecting on it!
The Finder behaviour is like this:
In Icon view, you can see the two sparsebundles and the Media folder, but clicking on the Media folder causes it to disappear.
In List view, the Media folder is simply not visible.
In Column view, the Media folder is visible but clicking on it reverts the focus back to the root level of the drive. The Media folder icon flashes momentarily and reappears.

  • ITunes freezes when accessing store

okay, this is driving me crazy...
I can sign into the store, but cannot access anything further without iTunes getting the SBOD.
when connecting to the store, the progress bar gets all the way and then nothing.
The throubleshooting steps I've done are:
    Trashed preferences
Trashed cache files from ~/Library/Caches, /Library/Caches and /System/Library/Caches
Tried a different user account...even the root user account.
    Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes
    Turned off IPv6
Anyone have any other suggestions. didn't start happening until I installed Snow Leopard, yet SL is installed on my home computer and works fine.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes freezes when trying to access "burning" tab in advanced preferences

iTunes freezes when trying to access "burning" tab in advanced preferences and also when attempting to hit burn cd button in lower left corner.

Thank you SO much!!! This is Exactly the problem I was having. I have spent untold hours in the last couple of days trying to resolve not only iTunes freezing up, but my network connectivity went bust as well. I like Blink so I'm undecided about whether to uninstall it yet, so I just disabled all of its firewall settings, and presto!... I can not only get my CD/DVD player to read and burn CD's, but iTunes and my computer remain functional. I got my computer to reconnect to the internet by doing a System Restore at a point prior to my trying to burn a CD. Thanks again so much. You saved my entire week!

  • ITunes freezes when I select help

iTunes freezes when I select help. Does the same thing in safe mode. Reinstall didn't help. iTunes 10.7.0.21. Windows 7 64 bit
When I choose iTunes help from the help menu, the help window opens with half of the window on screen and half of the window off of the screen to the right. The computer and other programs continue to work correctly but I need to use task manager to get iTunes to close.
    Any thoughts???
    Thanks, Tony

    SUCCESS!
After trying all the suggestions above I googled the issue and came across a Windows specific forum where a guy had a software conflict with Malwarebytes.
That got me thinking about a startup item conflict.
Using Msconfig, I systemattically turned off half of my startup items, did a restart, tested the result.
In my case, with half of the items off, I could access the itunes store.
I turned on half of the remaining items, restarted, tested the result.
I could still access the store.
After about 8-10 cycles of this, I found that a startup item called OC_Guru_II was the culprit.
It is an overclocking utility that came with my Gigabyte brand Nvidia video card.
I'm confident that this was my problem. It is 100% repeatable.
Hope that it helps some of you when the other stuff doesn't.
    All the best to everyone,
    Tony

  • My itunes freezes when I connect my ipod....help!!

I have installed the new update (Windows 8 64 bit)  & my itunes freezes when I connect my ipod.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • ITunes freezes when opeining if connected to the internet

I have a problem that started this weekend. If I am connected to the internet, my iTunes freezes when I open it. It just gets stuck with the spinning beach ball. Any idea what might be causing this? I'd guess its something to do with syncing to icloud, but i tried disabling the auto download music & apps in preferences, and that didn't help

I am totally stuck on the same issue and have been for almost a year. Auto downloads and genius are disabled. I'm using a iMac and have upgraded to Lion OS 10.7.3. Being on an iMac means I can't uninstall iTunes but I am now on iTunes 10.6.1 (7). Think that's the latest.
If I disconnect from the internet I can use iTunes no problems but that kind of defeats the purpose of the store and I liked being able to control iTunes from my iPhone!
I've restarted literally tens of times.
Anyone that can help? should i raise another thread?
    Thanks!

  • ITunes freezes when syncing with iPhone, but works fine with iPod?

It's a bit of a long story with my iPhone/iTunes problem. In late July, my iPhone stopped syncing properly. It's an iPhone 4. Basically, I tried to add more photo albums to sync onto my phone, something I have done before. It began syncing, then notified me that it couldn't sync 'x' amount of photos. It was a pop up on my phone screen. I tried deleting my cache in My Pictures, still errors. Then it seems like everything possible has just glitched when I sync as weeks went on. It wouldn't sync music. The songs would appear gray and failed to play. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it doesn't. Now, iTunes freezes when it reaches the end of the sync and I have to ctrl+alt+del to close iTunes as it stops working.
I took my iPhone to apple, and she ran diagnostics and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. She told me she couldn't run diagnostics on my iTunes because it's a Windows laptop and she's "not trained to work with them". She said everything seemed fine with my iPhone and asked if it was possible if I have a virus. I've had no other problems with my laptop whatsoever and I have a decent virus protector that we pay for monthly.
I have tried restoring my phone twice, with a backup. I tried again WITHOUT a backup, and still, it freezes when it syncs, some songs are gray on my iPhone and won't play, and photos refuse to sync, period.
I then tried syncing my dad's iPod with my iTunes, and it worked. I also tried syncing my iPhone on my dad's laptop, and it worked. So something is clearly glitching between specifically my phone and my iTunes. I'm avoiding uninstalling iTunes at all costs because I don't want to lose play count information as the majority of my playlists are created this way. I thought iOs 7 or iTunes 11 (now 11.1) would fix it, but neither did.
Can anyone determine what the problem could be and how to fix it?

the same thing is happening with me. itunes will freeze and then it wont put songs on my ipod.
im starting to get upset since i just went out and bought a new ipod. thinking that was the problem.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
