ITunes Freezes when docking 40 G iPod.

I'm trying to set up my son's new 2G Nano. But when my 40G iPod is connected, iTunes freezes up completely. Any suggestions?

Try to completely reinstall iTunes as follows:
- Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add or remove programs (just "Programs" on Vista)
- Select iTunes and click the "Remove button"
- Once it is uninstalled, to to C:\Program Files and delete the "iTunes" and "QuickTime" and "Bonjour" folders
- Go to C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Application Data (on Vista: C:\Users\YourNameHere\AppData\Roaming) and delete the "Apple Computer" folder
- Restart your computer
- Download iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download and reinstall it.

I have installed the new update (Windows 8 64 bit) & my itunes freezes when I connect my ipod.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Itunes freezes when i connect my ipod classic 120GB, please help

hello,
I got a problem with my itunes/ipod, I believe it's my ipod.
My Itunes freezes when i connect my ipod to my computer (windows 7 Professional, latest version of itunes),
it started when i've connected my ipod to itunes and I just plugged it out when it was syncronizing.
after that my whole content (music, pic's, video's) are deleted. The default stuff is the only thing what's left on it.
And now every time I connnect my ipod classic my itunes freezes. I've installed itunes on my new computer but it keeps doing nothing..
I've tried the support pages from apple but I just can't fix this problem, please help.

I have a 4G 8GB iPod touch, and it hasn't been synced into iTunes for about 2 months now because iTunes always freezes when I plug my iPOd into it.(I have iTunes 10.1 or which ever one is the latest version and it just freezes). Can anyone help or has the same problem?

I managed to get it to work this way on Windows 7 SP1 X64
Itunes 10.2
Ipod 2g
Open Itunes
Open Task manager
Click on process tab
Connect Ipod 2g
Swap back to applications tab and check for not responding for Itunes
If Itunes goes not responding
Disconnect and reconnect Ipod, while viewing process tab
It may take a few times

Itunes freezes when I connect my ipod....possible corrupt file?

I reinstalled itunes to the latest version.
And I'm still having the same problem: My itunes freezes whenever I connect my ipod. And when i disconnect it, it unfreezes and it shows "My Ipod" in itunes for like a second then goes away.
Now, when I reinstalled again, i noticed a message saying that Windows is missing components required to fully install Itunes (itunes installed anyway) or something like that. Now, i connected it to my parents' pc and it works fine.
Is there something wrong with my pc? Is there a different program where i can transfer my music to my ipod? (I am using Windows XP btw)
Also is there a way to move all the songs on my ipod to an external hard drive?

When I'm playing songs with iTunes and connecting my 3G 20GB iPod, my computer will hang up completely - screen goes dark and I have to reset my PC.
However, when my iTunes is "idle", i.e. not playing a song or doing anything else, connecting and syncing the iPod will work just fine.
I'm using the newest (6.x) Version of iTunes on WinXP SP2 with a 3G iPod 20GB.

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard I have been having syncing issues with my 5th Gen 80GB iPod. It first gave me an error that it could not read or write to the iPod. The music and podcast were able to write to the iPod but when it got to syncing my photos is when it failed. I then just yesterday installed iTunes 9 hoping it would help, which it didn't. I tried to do a restore of my iPod with iTunes 9 and it was able to erase the iPod just fine and when I went to sync it again it gets stuck at about 5GB completed. I have a total of about 60GB's that I am trying to sync, but even if I just sync a few things it still will give an error "Can't synce 80GB iPod because it can't be read or written to (error -50)."
So I am not sure if this is a Snow Leopard issue or iTunes issue. I don't think it is my iPod because it was working fine now for over 2 years. Even the small amount of 5GB that it did transfer will play just fine from my iPod.

I've got a pentium 4 3.0 with 1GB of RAM running winXP pro. I just re-installed winxp after formatting the HD so everything should be clean. All it has on it is WinXP, Office 2007, Photoshop, and Itunes. When I connect my ipod, a 60GB video, itunes will freeze the entire computer up for a few minutes while it syncs. Also, many podcasts, most notobly "This american life" will only download about halfway (an hour long podcast will be 15 minutes or so long). This happens pretty consistently. Any ideas? This problem started when iTunes said it couldn't sync some of the songs to my ipod. I think it said my ipod was corrupt or something like that so I tried to restore it. It froze after the restore, so I unplugged the iPod. It works when it's not plugged in, there's just nothing on it. When I plug it into the computer iTunes freezes. I tried doing reformatting it through Windows in disk mode, then it showed up in iTunes as corrupt. I restored it and the same thing happened. I don't know what to do; does anyone know anything about this?

If the above steps don't work, I went through a lot of trial and error to fix mine but found that this method worked great.
1. Press and hold select and menu to reset.
2. When the apple comes up, press select and play to put the iPod in disk mode.
3. Plug iPod in and make sure iTunes recognizes it. It will still give you an error but ignore it.
4. Find out what the iPod drive name is. Mine is G: so be careful what you put in because this will completely format any drive you type in.
Open up CMD from the run or start menu. Type in:
Format G: /FS:FAT32.
(Remember to replace G: with whatever drive your iPod is.)
Then hit enter. It may take a while. This will start the iPod format.
5. When that is finished, you will get an error that says something like the drive is too big for FAT. Ignore this.
6. Eject the iPod using iTunes and then press the select and menu button to reset the iPod back into normal mode.
7. Plug the iPod back in. You will get a message on Windows saying that you need to format it again. Ignore this.
8. Restore the iPod using iTunes.
This method will completely wipe the iPod and formats the entire thing to its original file format. I have read that doing this can reduce the life of the iPod, but better than having a iPod paper weight. This method made mine run like new again. I found that using the Windows Format Utility doesn't work to well. The CMD format seemed to do the trick. Hope this helps.

ITunes freezes when I connect my iPod/weird clicking noise

Hi, recently I've tried connecting my iPod to my laptop and iTunes would freeze and task manager said it wasn't responding. In addition, when this happened, my iPod would make a weird clicking noise. I noticed this noise before when I had it on shuffle and would skip to a different song just after another song started. Does anyone know what's going on?

ITunes freezes when trying to restore ipod

Hi guys
At the moment whenever i plug my ipod in itunes says it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
Once i restore it and the ipod resets though, itunes freezes completely and wont shut down from task manager.
To open it again I need to restart the entire computer but when I try again it goes back to the start and is just going around in loops.
Any ideas?

Did the problem start after installing Windows 7 SP1, there have been numerous reports of iTunes freezing connected in some way with USB.
I don't have a solution at the moment although it might be possible to find more with Google.
Some people have resorted to uninstalling SP1.

this started to happen when i had to re-install itunes because they deleted all my content. it was the old version anyways, so i installed the latest version. now, whenever i connect the ipod into my computer and itunes detects it, itunes freezes and my new content doesn't get synced. the battery sign on my ipod shows that it's connected, but itunes doesn't respond to anything i do. Only after i disconnect my ipod does itunes start working again. any suggestions?

My 80GB ipod and itunes also freeze during sync. I tried resetting ipod, had Best Buy restore ipod, and have an extended warranty with Best Buy-they sent in my ipod and I got a replacement ipod. I have already checked my anti-virus and have scanned my computer for any problems, which none came up. So my laptop and ipod are good. Did not have any problems with ipod or itunes until I got the new update for itunes 9.2. The problem is with itunes updates, now I have an ipod with no music and cannot sync my music back into it. If they can't fix this, I will get rid of this ipod and never buy any apple products ever again.

Itunes freezes when trying to insert IPOD

We are trying to restore a click shell IPOD (+ HP). When Itunes is running and the IPOD is inserted in the base attached via USB to the computer (Dell D620), Itunes freezes thus preventing the restoration. I have tried to deinstall Itunes and reinstall but no luck. Any ideas?

Since no one has replied to my requests, I will reply to myself.
It turns out that the IPOD may have had really bad stiction.
I got it restored using the origninal HP+IPOD CD installer. But then when trying to get all 485 songs downloaded in Itunes it got to about 147 and hung. So, I "carefully" tapped the sides of the IPOD actually harder than many times before. I then did a soft reset on the IPOD and started to download the 485 songs again from Itunes. This time it worked with no problems. Now, the question is whether it will hold up this time or start "sticking" again.

I have the square shuffle and every time I go onto iTunes and try syncing a new podcast to it the whole thing freezes. It does not freeze when I sync music, just when I click on the podcast tab at the top. Pretty weird but I can't seem to fix the problem. pls help my ipod nano 4 gig is really weird. like i had problems with it where the screen had alot of lines on it and it fixed. now my ipod has a folder with a yeild triangle with an exclamtion mark inside that. when i connect my ipod to the computer it is read, and then itunes freezes. Also something pops up an alert and says G: files could not be saved try somewhere else. It wontlet me open my computjer either whne i have my ipod connected. i tried the HP USB Format tool but it says that my ipod is media protected and u cant reformat it. i dont know what to do if you have any answer i would really appreciate it!

I just used Nero to burn cds as opposed to iTunes.
