ITunes freezes when I open the store

Ever since I downloaded the latest iTunes, it freezes when I try to open the store. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but it didn't fix the problem (as I have found in the past usually works when I have a problem with iTunes). I have no idea why it's doing this or what I can do to fix it. I received a lot of iTunes gift cards for Christmas and would loove to be able to actually use them. Any ideas? Thanks.

EDIT: I've re-installed twice now. After re-installing iTunes froze for about 10 minutes before it opened the "Welcome to iTunes" window. It appears to be able to access store pages, just not without freezing for 10min. at a time for every single thing I enter or click (including 10min. per character I type in a text box). Any help would be appreciated.

  • ITunes crashing when connecting to the store on Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I had iTunes crashing when connecting to the iTunes Store with an Apple ID. I tried unsucessfully all the solutions posted on the many threads of people having the same issue. So I decided to reinstall Windows. A clean Windows 8.1 install from the Microsoft DVD. And guess what, it is still crashing! How can this even be possible?
    The problem:
    - iTunes crashes when connecting to the store with an Apple ID. It connects, briefly freezes, then crashes.
    - I can access the store without an Apple ID without crashes. But it crashes as soon as I connect with an Apple ID.
    The system:
    - A clean, fully updated, Windows 8.1 Pro w/ WMC install from the Microsoft DVD.
    - Applications I installed, along with iTunes: Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, Skype, Office 2013. Nothing else. No crapware. No nothing. These are fairly common applications that shouldn't conflict with iTunes.
    - Antivirus is the built-in Windows Defender.
    - Firewall is the built-in Windows Firewall.
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 on an Acer V3-571-6486
    - I have not moved Apple's folder from Romaing and Local AppData of the old systems... So it's a clean iTunes profile.
    - I can sucessfully sign-in to the iTunes Store with this account on another computer
    - I have tried with multiple accounts on this computer, all crashing
There are tons of threads about this. I tried all the solutions posted, including:
    - Adding "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to the PATH environment variable
    - Copying QTMovieWin.dll from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes"
    - Moving QTMovieWin.dll from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes"
    - Updating the graphics card to the latest available driver from Intel's website (9.17.10.3517, 2014-10-04)
    - Downgrade the graphics driver (9.17.10.3347, 2014-01-29)
    - Use the graphic's driver from Acer's website.
    - Use Microsoft's Basic VGA Driver
    - Disable the Graphic's Adapter entirely
    - Have tried to monitor the process with ProcMon, looking for a hint like a missing file or registry entry, but have not found anything helpful.
These solutions seem to have worked for almost everyone, but not me. The crash details in the Windows Application log are useless. Faulty module name is 'unknown'.
I am out of solutions. Is there anything left to do? Can anyone out Apple debug the dump file or something? Is there any way to contact Apple about this issue?
    Many thanks.

    Hey zoyashahab,
Ok, so it sounds like there are two issues here we want to address, the first being the iTunes Store connection issue and the second being iTunes not recognizing your iOS devices.
First, I'd start with troubleshooting the recognition by following the steps in here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If after getting that running again, you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, then I'd go through the troubleshooting steps in here:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

    Hi cdpeters,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue seeing emails in the Mail app on your iPad. A good place to start with troubleshooting an issue like this is the basic troubleshooting steps in the article below.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
    Resolution
First, try these basic troubleshooting steps:
Tap Safari and load a webpage. If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you can't load a webpage, check your Wi-Fi connection or try a different Internet connection:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection.
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to make sure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Make sure your settings are correct using Mail Settings Lookup.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
    I hope this helps.

  • Itunes freezes when I push the apply or revert button

When I ever I try to add or delete a playlist, or book from my nano the system freezes when I push the rever or apply buttons on the summary tabs

I have this same problem on a windows 7 machine. I checked the dom.storage.enabled and it IS set to true. If anyone has another fix for this I'd appreciate it.

  • ITunes 11 crashes when I open the store.

I have tried repairing, uninstalling the entire apple suite ( described in a different article on apple support website), reinstalling, opening in safe mode, changing users, changing the firewall and antivirus settings, clearing the itunes cache, updating iTunes and Windows, and countless reboots. I'm on a brand new pc with Windows 7, so this is really frustrating. I can open my library, but when I click on the store, it loads about 3/4 of the way and stalls. I then get a message that says iTunes has stopped working, and I can either close it or "look online for a solution." But that never helps.

I have exact exception code in the event log as you. I've searching around and found no solution, it is real fustrated.  Everything works fine and able to sync against the iphone, but crashes everytime when I go to the itunes store. (Already using latest itunes 11.0.5.5 and latest windows 8 patch)

  • IPhone 5 often freezes when I open the camera

My iPhone 5S which is only 4 months old has had an annoying problem with freezing up every so often when I open up my camera. The screen goes black and nothing will work. The only thing I can do is switch the power off and back on. If I do not turn the phone off, then after a few minutes the phone will work fine unless you press the camera again and then the viewing screen remains black and you cannot use the camera so you have to turn the power off.
Very very annoying as this is my first switch over from Android to Apple and I'm not too impressed with this problem or the battery life!!!

    Probably a software issue
    Basic troubleshooting
    Restart
    Reset
    restore
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
if after above (incl restore ) no improvement could be a hardware issue ,so take to an Apple Store genius bar

  • Itunes freezes when I connect the ipod

Help. I have down loaded the new version of itunes now my ipod has copied a few songs and wont copy any more. when I launch itunes it works well on its own but as soon as I plug in my ipod and go to task manager it says itunes has stopped responding and it freezes. What on earth is wrong with it. Sometimes it recognises my ipod but most times it doesn't and just freezes. I have tried all the solutions in the help section

That doesn't work either it freezes after trying to initialise. I took my ipod into the apple shop when I first downloaded the updates. Completely screwed my ipod. The apple shop reformatted it and set it for windows.
As soon as I plug it in (I have to launch itunes it doesn't do it automatically) everything freezes, as soon as I unplug it the ipod works, itunes works they just don't work together

I update drivers on a regular basis. Anyone have a fix?
    Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for your question.
My system has all of the updates and drivers. The problem stated when I upgraded iTunes.
Are you suggesting that because of that, I need to upgrade to Windows XP?
Many people are having the same problem as I, and they already have Windows XP....so I doubt that is the problem.
    My question is:
Where can I find an older revision of iTunes? At least then we could use our burners until apple fixes this bug, and then upgrade.
    Thanks again,

  • My Illustrator CS5 freezes when I open the programme or a file

I have a MacBook Pro 5 with Mac OS X 10.6.8, I use Adobe MasterSuite CS5, although the only programs fully installed from it are Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Flash. I rarely use Flash, but rely on the other three heavily for work.
I opened an Illustrator file about two weeks ago and after about 30 seconds the programme just frooze, I couldn't click any of the objects in the file or even select options from the menu, nothing would happen, I quit the application and tried to open a new document, reopened Illustrator and managed to select the File menu but then it frooze again.
I've tried to open it over the last two weeks but to no avail, very reluctant to reinstall without getting some advice first. InDesign is having the exact same problem, but Photoshop is completely fine and working as good as ever. Please help, I need these programs for a graphics internship that I'm doing and doing everything in Photoshop is taking 3 times the time it takes with Illustrator and InDesign.

  • IPhoto freezes when i open the app, each time it is open on the same photo and when i try to swap to another photo it freezes until i force quit the app.

I have recently come back from a trip to Venice, i uploaded my photos to iPhoto to view and edit them, half way through the photos from day three of my trip it has frozen on a particular photo. I force quit the app and then re open it and it is still on the same image with the exact same problem. I am now unable to view any photos of my trip as they're all on iPhoto and i cannot access the albums because they are stuck on this one photo. I need to be able to access them by 11th March because i have a project due in about our trip and we need to include the best of our photos and at the moment i am being stopped from even looking at them. PLEASE HELP!

    What version of iPhoto?
    Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • ITunes freezes when opeining if connected to the internet

I have a problem that started this weekend. If I am connected to the internet, my iTunes freezes when I open it. It just gets stuck with the spinning beach ball. Any idea what might be causing this? I'd guess its something to do with syncing to icloud, but i tried disabling the auto download music & apps in preferences, and that didn't help

I am totally stuck on the same issue and have been for almost a year. Auto downloads and genius are disabled. I'm using a iMac and have upgraded to Lion OS 10.7.3. Being on an iMac means I can't uninstall iTunes but I am now on iTunes 10.6.1 (7). Think that's the latest.
If I disconnect from the internet I can use iTunes no problems but that kind of defeats the purpose of the store and I liked being able to control iTunes from my iPhone!
I've restarted literally tens of times.
Anyone that can help? should i raise another thread?
    Thanks!
