Itunes freezes when I try to go to podcasts.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Itunes and now every single time I try to go to my podcasts the whole of itunes totally freezes and I have to warm reboot to get the **** software to come up again, if i dont go near podcasts it works but the moment I press on it to update them, bang totally freezes again!

Hello Generic Fighter,
Thank you for providing the details of when iTunes becomes unresponsive.  I found an article with steps you can take to isolate and troubleshoot an issue like this:

Itunes freezes when i try to log in in to my apple id(apple store)
and it is not because of the update

    Exact Same issue!
I haven't tried using a new profile but the moment I click on the Sign Out link under my user name in the store, iTunes freezes and needs to be killed.
Reinstalls haven't helped, sometimes out of the blue it works fine but in most cases iTunes is now practically unusable for me.
This started recently after the update and I can't pinpoint any other major change to my system.

  • If iTunes Freezes when you try to Burn a CD, here's the FIX

I have read many posts about iTunes freezing when you try to burn a cd. This worked for me and it should work for you. It's a quite simple fix, but here goes:
    If iTunes freezes when you:
    1) Click on the Burning tab in your Preferances
    OR
    2) When you click on the Burn CD button
    Steps To Recovery:
    1) Completely Uninstall iTunes
    2) Reinstall iTunes
    3) If it still freezes either repair iTunes (using the file you used to install iTunes) or follow steps 1 and 2 again.
    I hope this helps,

  • Help: iTunes freezing when I try to transfer purchases from iPad 2.

iTunes freezes when I try to transfer purchases from my iPad 2 to my laptop (MS Vista). It starts to transfer purchases but eventually results in iTunes not responding or my device timing out.  I've tried Disk Cleanup/Defrag and uninstall/re-install of iTunes in the correct sequence. Can anyone please help me?

How is your iPod configured to sync music? In other words, what options and configurations do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs in iTunes?
Maybe have a look at this article as well to verify your iPod is set up for syncing music.

  • ITunes Freezing when I try and Close it

I just downloaded iTunes 7 for my Windows PC and it constantly freezes when I try and shut it down. This problem only happens when I am in the middle of playing a song and I try to shut iTunes down. What happens is the windows Dr. Watson error message comes up and asks me if I want to send the error. Does anybody else have this problem? If so any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Tyson Moore
      Windows XP Pro

I'm running XP and, after upgrading to iTunes 7, I'm finding it freezes often, too. And crashes, with the option box to send an error report soon following. The kicker is that, after this, I've been getting a "blue screen of death". Upon rebooting, Windows sends an error report concerning the "blue screen", indicating that it's some kind of unidentified driver that's causing the crash -- something that was NOT happening prior to installing iTunes 7. So, yeah, I'D like an answer, TOO.

  • ITunes Freezes when I try to sync my new iPod Touch

I can't sync my new iPod with my iTunes library. I have posted in the iTunes forum, although my title says that I have solved the issue. It isn't, so I'm contemptlating reposting.
I bought a 64gig iPod Touch the other day to replace an old broken iPod. When I try to sync it with my main iTunes library, after a short while (5-500 songs) iTunes freezes and won't shut down. I have on a couple of occasions got a message saying the the computer can't write to the iPod, or the iPod isn't responding, or an "Unknown Error".
It seems to work fine with my laptop.
I found a page on fixing "Unknown Errors" and have tried most of the suggestions.
    I've tried:
*) Uninstalling and Reinstalling iTunes several times
*) Resetting and restoring my iPod several times
*) Updating my drivers - they are all up to date apparently
*) Stopping all unnecessary programs and services from running on start up
*) Creating a new user account and trying to sync my iPod from there. I have successfully managed to sync the iPod with a small number of songs or a film on my own account, so I need to test it with a fairly big library. I copied my main iTunes library into iTunes on the new account. The sync hasn't worked (although it is syncing the same files).
I found a post with a google search that suggested it could be a power drain on my USB port / Bus, or somet fhing like that. Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounded plausible. I have recently upgraded my graphics card.
I did also see a solution posted that suggested formatting the iPod using My Computer and the iPod icon, but I can't imagine that would do anything more than the restore iPod option in the iPod menu?
Can anyone help? Getting a bit fed up now... I've had the iPod a couple of weeks and have barely been able to use it yet.

Are you using security software on your PC? If yes, try to disable the software or check the settings. More info here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125

  • Why does iTunes freeze when I try to burn cds?

Hi, when I try to burn cds, iTunes freezes. I have a Sony CD-RW CRX175A and I have been assured by Sony that I'm running the latest firmware.
I was able to burn cds no problem two weeks ago. Then I removed an external hard drive and then plugged it back in later. To do this, I clicked an icon in the toolbar entitled "Safely Remove Hardware" and I'm wondering if I "removed" my cd burner or something. This is the only thing I can think of.
Regardless of what I wrote above, can anyone help me? I teach dance and not being able to burn cds in iTunes is making life difficult. THANK YOU!!!

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
Check the Windows Update website to verify that you have the latest service packs and patches for your OS. Service packs affect the performance of USB and firewire CD / DVD drives.

Please help me if you can. Thankfully I can still burn cds no problem with Windows Media Player. For some reason iTunes just can't make it happen. I have tried reinstalling iTunes and I know I have the latest drivers for my cd burner. Any suggestions?

  • ITunes freezes when I try to burn a CD

When I try to burn a CD, iTunes freezes (with no error message) and I have to use Task Manager to close it. It also freezes when I click on the "Burn" tab in Properties and I have to use Task Manager to close it. I have tried to run CD Diagnostics (without a CD in it as instructed on other threads), but it locks up. Everything else on iTunes works, I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, and I have checked and updated all Windows updates.
Any help would be really appreciated!!

I need more information about your hardware configuration. Please run the iTunes Help menu -> Run CD diagnostics and post the output here.

  • ITunes freezes when I try to burn imported & purchased songs on the same CD

When I make a playlist that contains a mixture of old MP3 files, songs I've downloaded from my CD collection, & songs purchased from iTunes, iTunes freezes up as soon as I try to burn a CD. It says "checking playlist", and just before the bar gets all the way across, it just stops and nothing happens.

  • ITunes freezes when I try to back up my purchases

    Hi!
I have been trying to back up my iTunes store purchases. I have 4 songs and 4 TV shows. I'm going to be doing a clean install in the next 2 weeks, and I need to get these backed up now. The remainder of my library can be duplicated.
When I try to backup, according to the instructions in the help files, I click on "back up" and the program freezes. I cannot get it to go past that point, and I am getting very frustrated. Has anyone got any idea what is wrong, or how to fix it? My internal CD/DVD burner is working fine, and can be used for any other purpose. I already checked it.
    Denise

Well...sometimes just downloading the itunes.exe installer and installing i-tunes again fixes a lot of problems. You could try that, see if it fixes it for you. Also...if this is a Windows machine, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools and check your Event Viewer for any wierd errors. Maybe something is hanging the system.

  • Itunes freezes when i try to sync my itouch?

My itunes works fine, but freezes whenever i try to sync my brand new ipod touch. it says it starts to sync the first song but then itunes freezes up. i have all the current itunes software and like i said the ipod is brand new. i tried turning off the firewall and security options but it still doesnt sync.

Yes I have had a nearly identical experience. Purchased a new iPod Touch - 2/15/2011. Connected it to my IBM Windows XP machine (SP3, latest updates, well maintained) that has served 4 other iPods (1 shuffle, 3 diff generation nanos, 1 classic, and a brand new nano purchased for Christmas 2010) flawlessly - no problems whatsoever
When attempting to sync the iPOD touch it (usually) goes through to step 4 - finishing sync, lists out the first song and hangs iTunes (I get 'not responding' with CTL-ALT-DEL). When I leave it overnight it times out and I get (iTunes unknown error -20). I called Apple tech support and between my tech knowledge and them here is what I have tried:
    - rebooted computer
    - reset iPod touch
    - uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes & other SW in sequence
    - switched USB ports
    - deleted songs which it was 'hanging' on
    To add to the fun:
....This same iPod touch when connected to my son's Lenovo laptop computer running Windows 7 syncs perfectly - no problemo
....The new Nano (Christmas 2010) syncs perfectly to this same Windows XP iTunes library
....If I try to sync the iPod Touch to other iTunes libraries on the Windows XP machine, it hangs...
Update from yesterday: I went to the genius bar and they handed me a replacement iPOD Touch. Reesult ?? same problem...
Help ! Any other ideas out there ???

  • ITunes freezes when I try to transfer songs to iPod Nano!

I just got my iPod Nano. Every time I try to transfer music to it from iTunes, iTunes freezes and must be force-quit after only a few songs have transferred. I am using the latest version of iTunes and no software updates for the Nano have been made available. Please help!

I had the same problem and this was my temporary fix to the problem, let me know if it works. But first lets make sure that I am having the same issues. Mine will get the spinning ball when trying to transfer songs. Then if I unplug it and try and replug it in, the Nano doesn't even register being attached.
First, I restarted the Mac, and zapped the PRAM 3 times.(Command, option, P + R after the startup chime) Let the computer restart fully, meaning the OS is up and running before you start iTunes. Start iTunes, then plug in the Nano. It should show up. At that point I started transferring songs at about 5 at a time. It didn't freeze, but I got the impression it came close judging by the speed it transferred. It may only be a temporary fix, but I got it to work.
Like I said let me know if it works.

  • Itunes freezes when I try to play a video..?

I have a windows 7 pc - when I try to play a tv show that I bought from itunes, and yes, it's already downloaded, itunes freezes. I've tried using itunes on different user acconts but no dice.

itunes will freeze even WITHOUT playing a song...
7.6 release of itunes was rushed so Jobs could look good at Mac Convention.
Apple didn't seem to care it was completely buggy and usless for a program. And to top the cake, if you called Apple to try and find out why iTunes was freezing and running slow, Apple blamed your computer. So 1000s of iTunes users have bad comnputers (even though they are all 100% above the minimum requirements for iTunes to run). sad Apple...how about take ownership??
there is only 1 good fix at the moment. uninstall 7.6 and reinstall 7.5 (see other threads to see how to do this flawlessly).

  • ITunes freezes when I try and signout

    Hi all,
On my PC I open itunes and input my password and everything is fine.  However I want to access a diferent itunes account but when I try and logout it freezes everytime.
I have tried uninstaling all apple software and reinstalling itunes but the problem still occurs.
Is there anything else I can try?
    Many thanks,
    Frances

    Hi there,
Count me in on this problem too! Since the 10.5 update, our iTunes has been locked into my partner's Apple ID and every attempt to sign out or sign in with my ID results in iTunes freezing. Then I have to force-quit iTunes and kill off all related Apple processes before I can run iTunes again. iTunes works fine for my partner in all aspects. We've tried so many things all to no avail.
Here's our list of failed resolutions:
    - contacted Apple's online support and was given several of the suggestions listed below
    - Safe mode
    - Creating a new iTunes library (that was a headache when you've got lots of CD's imported into iTunes)
    - Repairing iTunes/re-installing/updating
    - Uninstalling completely as per a recommendation from an Apple Genius in my local store (see the tech article on that annoying process) and then reinstalling afresh
    - Going through my PC's registry bit-by-bit and deleting specfic Apple entries (again, as per an article listed in tech forums)
    - I have allowed iTunes through Windows Firewall
    - I have "told" Avast Antivirus to ignore iTunes and let it do its thing as well
And so now after putting up with this since December 2011, we're still stuck with the problem and Apple don't seem to know how to fix it.
My ID works fine on our devices, but I just can't get into it on our PC.
    Our specs are:
    - Windows Vista32 SP2
    - AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual CPU [email protected]
    - 2Gb RAM
    - NVidia Geforce 9600GT 1GB
    - iTunes is installed on C: Drive, iTunes Media/Library is installed on external Seagate 2Gb  HDD
(and I have tried it on both drives to see if that makes any difference, but unfotunately it didn't)
Any ideas or suggestions would be so majorly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Weregirl
