ITunes freezes when rebuffering radio & using Spaces
Hello all!
I've had this issue for the last 4 or 5 versions of iTunes, and the latest update still hasn't fixed it.
Here's the scenario:
I'm streaming a radio station using iTunes and have iTunes on an inactive space (i.e. a Space that I'm not currently on). Suddenly the radio cuts out, because my internet connection is slightly irritating and stalls a lot. So I switch to the Space that iTunes is on, and see the "rebuffering" pop up message in front of iTunes. But if I click to cancel rebuffering, or click anywhere in iTunes, I get the spinning beach ball. It won't go away until I force quit iTunes.
This happens virtually every time iTunes is rebuffering and I switch over to the Space that it's on.
Anyone else have this problem? It happens to me 3-4 times a day, and I've done a ton of searching but can't find anyone else with the same issue.
Yes, wow, I have had this problem too and no solution, short of killing iTunes with Activity Monitor and restarting :P

Itunes freezes when I connect my iphone 4s
My itunes freezes when I connect my iphone 4s. I've tried re-installing & previous versions. When I use another laptop it works so the problem lies with my laptop which is Windows XP 32 bit with latest updates. Can anyone suggest a solution?

I have installed the new update (Windows 8 64 bit) & my itunes freezes when I connect my ipod.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

ITunes freezes when opeining if connected to the internet
I have a problem that started this weekend. If I am connected to the internet, my iTunes freezes when I open it. It just gets stuck with the spinning beach ball. Any idea what might be causing this? I'd guess its something to do with syncing to icloud, but i tried disabling the auto download music & apps in preferences, and that didn't help
I am totally stuck on the same issue and have been for almost a year. Auto downloads and genius are disabled. I'm using a iMac and have upgraded to Lion OS 10.7.3. Being on an iMac means I can't uninstall iTunes but I am now on iTunes 10.6.1 (7). Think that's the latest.
If I disconnect from the internet I can use iTunes no problems but that kind of defeats the purpose of the store and I liked being able to control iTunes from my iPhone!
I've restarted literally tens of times.
Anyone that can help? should i raise another thread?

ITunes freezes when I select help
iTunes freezes when I select help. Does the same thing in safe mode. Reinstall didn't help. iTunes 10.7.0.21. Windows 7 64 bit
When I choose iTunes help from the help menu, the help window opens with half of the window on screen and half of the window off of the screen to the right. The computer and other programs continue to work correctly but I need to use task manager to get iTunes to close.
Any thoughts???

After trying all the suggestions above I googled the issue and came across a Windows specific forum where a guy had a software conflict with Malwarebytes.
That got me thinking about a startup item conflict.
Using Msconfig, I systemattically turned off half of my startup items, did a restart, tested the result.
In my case, with half of the items off, I could access the itunes store.
I turned on half of the remaining items, restarted, tested the result.
I could still access the store.
After about 8-10 cycles of this, I found that a startup item called OC_Guru_II was the culprit.
It is an overclocking utility that came with my Gigabyte brand Nvidia video card.
I'm confident that this was my problem. It is 100% repeatable.
Hope that it helps some of you when the other stuff doesn't.

iTunes freezes when I click on "burn" CD, or when I click on the "burning" tab in Edit, Properties, Advanced. I have to then use Task Manager to get out of iTunes then.

The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.

My system has all of the updates and drivers. The problem stated when I upgraded iTunes.
Are you suggesting that because of that, I need to upgrade to Windows XP?
Many people are having the same problem as I, and they already have Windows XP....so I doubt that is the problem.
My question is:
Where can I find an older revision of iTunes? At least then we could use our burners until apple fixes this bug, and then upgrade.

My driver is up to dateWe had the same issue. Backtracking, it turned out that it began after our techie updated our home network - for whatever reason, the main computer no longer holds the LAN settings properly after being restarted.
It's an easy fix (until he gets back from the west coast and can fix it permanently): after I boot the computer each day, I open IE, go to "tools" - "internet options" - "connections" - "LAN settings" - check "automatically detect" and uncheck "use proxy server."
Once I do that, CDDB comes up wonderfully and imports all the data I need.

Itunes freezes when adding media to Iphone
I have just updated to Itunes 10.2.2.14 on Windows XP, I also have never synced my Iphone 3g to itunes, but when attempting to add any media to the iphone, the progress bar stops halfway on the first song, the arrows remain spinning but nothing happens, until about 20 minutes later it says there was an error and the media could not be copied, how can i fix this?

I haven't tried using a new profile but the moment I click on the Sign Out link under my user name in the store, iTunes freezes and needs to be killed.
Reinstalls haven't helped, sometimes out of the blue it works fine but in most cases iTunes is now practically unusable for me.

I am using Window Vista 32bit and have the same problem. After trying uninstall, reinstall, ccclean registry, over and over again and still cannot install itune 10.5. And finally concluded that this might be a registry corruption problem. The following steps is what I did to fix the registry isssue and get my itune 10.5 installed.
- Run Window update - and check the history file, if you see some failures in previous updates, there is something wrong with the registry.
- un-install all the apple related software (itune, safari, boujour, apple update, etc).
- For Vista 32bit, go to the following link and run the script to clean up the registry. I am not sure if other WIndow OS will work or not.

- run the Fix-it script. you have to select the Agressive mode (even thou the pop up window advise not to do this) in order to clean up the registry. When I try without checking the box, and it did not fix the problem.
- reboot PC
- Run window update. It will discover a lot of old updates that need to be installed (I suspect that the fix it script delete a lot of stuff in the registry and removed previous updates). I got 53 updates that need to install.
- run the update and wait for a longtime (mine took ~2 hours).
- reboot PC
- run cccleaner
- reboot PC
- install itune 10.5
Now it works. Hopefully other window OS has similar step to fix this. I can only say it works for me using window Vista 32bit. and so far, my PC works correctly. -

My itunes freezes when I attempt to burn CD's. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes with no change. I have attempted to update CD/DVD burner drivers. No luck any advice?
I just used Nero to burn cds as opposed to iTunes.

If iTunes Freezes when you try to Burn a CD, here's the FIX
I have read many posts about iTunes freezing when you try to burn a cd. This worked for me and it should work for you. It's a quite simple fix, but here goes:
If iTunes freezes when you:
1) Click on the Burning tab in your Preferances
OR
2) When you click on the Burn CD button
Steps To Recovery:
1) Completely Uninstall iTunes
2) Reinstall iTunes
3) If it still freezes either repair iTunes (using the file you used to install iTunes) or follow steps 1 and 2 again.

Itunes freezes when burning CDs
Similar post to others here. Since upgrade to IT 6, Itunes freezes when trying to burn some CDs. IT shows as "not-responding" in task manager. Seems to happen when burning CDs with newly downloaded tracks, perhaps in combination with imported tracks. I've tried several suggestions posted here.
- I uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes and Quicktime
- Installed updated BIOS, chipset, and CD R drivers
No luck.
Sometimes if I wait 3-5 minutes it will start the burn. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Log follows.

Help! Any suggestions?
first let's try a
b repair install.
go to your add/remove programs, select itunes, click "change/remove" and then select "repair".
