ITunes frequently ends a song early.

I've checked the possible reasons provided by Apple, no change. Many of the songs were purchased in the iTunes store, others were ripped from CD. Running  iTunes 10.7.0.21 under Windows 7.

If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (check this with iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).  See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
If you cannot download a second time, contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history or,

  • ITunes ends purchased songs early

Why is iTunes ending songs early on all devices that were purchased from the iTunes Store.  Products affected include: iPhone 4, iTunes for Windows, Gen 4 Nanos, Gen 2 Shuffle (aka every possible product Apple makes minus their laptops and desktops.  I suspect this would happen with those as well.  This a frustrating issue that Apple needs to resolve immediately or provide their consumers their money back.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • ITunes ending songs early

Out of nowhere (at least seemingly) iTunes has started ending ALL of my songs early. I don't have Match or iCloud. i have a mix of formats (MP3, M4A, etc.), though almost none of them were DL'd from the iTunes store. I have 10.6.3 because i have an iBook G4. Deleting and reinstalling iTunes didn't help.

oh, and my ipod touch plays the same tracks just fine without the early ending.

  • Iphone audio stops before end of song...itunes does not

    Hello
I'm having an issue on my iPhone 6 with regards to audio not playing all the way to the end of a song. I'm seeing this with tracks that I've purchased, as well as tracks I've ripped from CD.
    1. A track will play fine, until about 20-30 seconds before the end of the trqck
    2. The audio will stop, but the track will continue to "play" in silence....still displaying the time remaining on the track
    3. I can rewind back beyond the point where the silence started, and the audio is fine until it reaches the spot in the track where the silence started
    4. Both tracks that had this issue (one purchased from iTunes, and one ripped) play fine on iTunes on my Macbook Air
For the track originally purchased from iTunes, I deleted the song from my iPhone. I re downloaded the track, and I'm still having the same issue - but the track still plays fine in iTunes
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Had the device been older, I would consider that perhaps there is something wrong with the drive- however, it's brand new, and this would not explain the fact that deleted the track and re downloading it introduces the same issue, as it's unlikely it would end up in the exact same spot on the drive
    Thanks

  • Itunes cut off ends of songs names

My songs names are cutted by itunes, a tried to convert with the ID3 converter but nothing has changed...
Thank you for your help and sorry for my poor english.

Dude, I first noticed the problem on iTunes a while back. I've been growing my mp3 collection since 1999 and its about 80gigs now so you can imagine how ****** off I was when iTunes cut all the song titles that were long. I have songs that are now named like this: Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five -
Chris CA you are totally missing the point here. iTunes didn't warn Neesh and I that it was going to completely f*%k our song names up. The first time I installed and ran iTunes it also took my 60 gigs of music and sorted it into folders, most of which were named "Unknown Album". It also copied the music into the iTunes Music folder so that there it took up twice as much hard drive space.
Anyway Neesh, I tried Media Monkey but that was worse. Now I have a bunch of files that are .mediamonkey files. What the **** is that?
So far, the best mp3 player was the original WinAmp. Its since been messed up so we're all stuck with iTunes. I wouldn't be surprised if one day it deletes all my mp3's that weren't purchased from the itunes store. So now I am backing up all my music.

  • Sometimes itunes does not play songs

From time to time my itunes stops playing: When I select
a song in my library or a song in the itunes store, the song
is displayed at the top, but itunes does not start playing.
Additionally, it won't play any other song.
When I close the itunes software (hitting [x] at the top
of the window), I cannot restart itunes until I end
the still living process itunes.exe in the task manager.
When I restart itunes afterwards, the same songs in the
library (or in the itunes store) play properly.
I use itunes 7.2.0.34, but the problem also existed
with earlier versions (I think they startet with 7.x)
    and still persists.
I followed the hints in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610,
    no change.
    Does anybody experience similar problems?
    This is really frustrating!
    Thanks,
    Mario

Just as an update, someone suggested reinstalling iTunes to fix the problem. I don't know if you loose the songs in your library but I asked the kind person that answered my question.

  • ITunes 9 and Windows 7: iTunes frequently locks up

    Hi,
I just wanted to report that my iTunes frequently will freeze up when not playing. For example it could not be playing a certain song, and I press play, and the play button just freezes at the pushed in state. The only way I've solved this is by rebooting because just ending the process doesn't solve the problem.

7.3.2 is the last version of iTunes that was designed to work with Windows 2000. Nothing later than that supports 2000: iTunes 7.3.2 for Windows 2000
    iTunes 9 requires:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, or 32-bit editions of Windows 7. 64-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 require the iTunes 9.0.2 64-bit installer

  • After downloading music and dragging into iTunes I end up with multiple copies of the album on my hard drive. I do have the "copy files into iTunes library" checked. When I try to erase one of the copies I end up with red ! in iTunes library.

Please Help!  After downloading an album and dragging it into itunes I end up having multiple copies of the album on my hard drive.  I do have (under Itunes preferences, advanced) copy songs into itunes library "checked".  I'm sure this is the reason for the multiple copies.  When I try to delete one of the copies of the album and go back to itunes and try playing a song, I get a red exclamtion point next to the song with an error message saying itunes cannot locate file. My questions are, Does Itunes literally make a copy of the song? If so , How do you know which file to delete?

Sony's own entertainment software on the Vaio plays merry **** with iTunes, worse there's no telling when it will kick in.
First head over to the Sony Vaio site and get the update for the software, that will stop it from messing with the iTunes database/library files when you connect your iPod.

  • ITunes just plays one song at a time now

It seems like prior to this last update, my iTunes would play each song within a playlist (one song after another, etc).
But now, after it plays one song, it just stops. These are the exact same playlists that it used to play all the way through (one song after another, according the order of the songs within the playlist).
Does anyone know why iTunes stops playing after one song (within a playlist)? Then, I select the next song manually, and it plays it, but of course it stops playing once again when it gets to the end of that song too. Basically it just stops playing after each song. Why won't it just keep playing (each song) like it used to?

Are there check marks beside all the songs in the playlist? Unchecked songs have to be clicked on individually to play them, checked songs will play one after the other. If you hold down the CRTL key and click beside any song in your list then all the check boxes can be toggled on or off: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

  • I've imported several CDs that are "collections", with songs by various artists.  Only a PORTION of the song info appears in iTunes, and, when a song is "clicked-on" to play it, a message appears that the "song could not be found".  Any ideas ?

The CDs are imported into the "iTunes Media" folder, under "Compilations".   Each CD has a folder, with the name of the CD.  However, EACH SONG in the folder is assigned a sequential number as a prefix before the song's name.  For example "2-1 Sunshine of Your Love."  This prefix, I believe, prevents the song from being imported into the iTunes library.  The song's name appears in the iTunes library (with the number prefix), BUT no other song info (artist, CD name, time, etc.) shows in the iTunes library.   I am NOT designating these CD's as "complilations", but somehow, iTunes is arbitrarily assigning them to this "Compilations" folder, and then assigning sequential numbers to each song.    I am confused.  (My only remedy is to MANUALLY remove the prefix number from each song in the CD folder, within the COMPILATIONS folder, then "re-import" it into iTunes.  Cumbersome.)    Thanks in advance for any opinion, tips or guidance.

The numeric prefixes in filenames are probably the optional disc number, followed by the track number. iTunes will pick up the Compilation flag from the Gracenote CDDB database if you ripped the tracks with iTunes, or the flag may have been set earlier if these are existing tracks you have imported into a new library.  The iTunes naming convention is <Artist>\<Album>\[<D#>-]<T##> <Name>.<Ext> where Album Artist is used instead of Artist if not blank, and Compliations is used instead of Artist when Part of a compilation is true. Empty Artist or Album values are replaced with Unknown Artist or Unknown Album respectively. With Windows, file and folder names are limited to 40 characters. If more than one file is added with the same details subsequent tracks get suffixes to separate them.
If iTunes can't find a file that usually means that it has been moved after it was added to the library. Select a single broken track and press CTRL+I to Get Info. Look on the summary tab at the location that iTunes expects to find the file. Where is it really? Post back both paths and I might be able to figure out what has happened, and suggest a fix.

  • Bought 2 ringtones from iTunes an got both songs but saying payment problem with 1 of the songs and when I go to check card details its correct an it not giving me an option to delete card but keep getting MSG sayin payment processing unavailApp Store

I have bought 2 ringtones Rome iTunes which I have received but it won't let me delete card details as saying payment error with second song but I have it on phone an now it's saying payment processing is not available an d cannot get any free apps form App Store either how can I sort this

See this thread for background on why iTunes can end up with duplicates and how they can be systematically removed. The script there is for Windows users and the "show duplicates" menus have moved around in iTunes 11,  but the advice on clearing recently made duplicates should still hold.
As given in my older post "Reorganize library" is meant as a one time command to change the structure of a pre-iTunes 9 library into the newer layout that places music in its own subfolder of the media folder. Once used, if the option becomes available again that suggests that a file called .iTunes Preferences.plist in the media folder has been deleted or editied.

  • I shifted from a windows to a mac.. I want to add songs to my ipod tpuch 4th gen.. but if i try to sync with itunes it says my songs will be replaced by the new songs.. Is there any way that i can have my previous data safe??

i shifted from a windows to a mac.. I want to add songs to my ipod tpuch 4th gen.. but if i try to sync with itunes it says my songs will be replaced by the new songs.. Is there any way that i can have my previous data safe??

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.
    iOS: How to back up
Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

  • Itunes 7 not playing songs AGAIN

I thought I had solved this problem earlier today, but here it is again. Progress bar doesn't even work. Won't play songs in library or on disk. I suppose if I restart the computer it will work (as it did last time) but surely I don't have to keep doing that?! Any ideas?

My problem has to do with playing my music on iTunes on my PC separate of my iPod.
I will start a song sequence in shuffle or not in shuffle mode and after two or three, maybe four songs iTunes will cease playing songs. I will try another song in iTunes. Nothing starts. I played a music video successfully but when I went back to my song list, nothing played. I finally had to exit iTunes and launch it again for the music to play.
So, what's up? Does anyone know?
    Thanks in advance. . .

  • ITunes Library cutting off songs

I posted this in another topic, but I'm not sure if it belongs here or there...
All of a sudden, my itunes library is blending songs when I play them in order. When each song has 4 seconds left, the next song on the list starts playing, as if a DJ's mixing them. It's annoying, because it cuts off the end of songs, and I don't know how it will affect the burning of CDs.
Anyone know why it's suddenly doing this, and how I can make it stop?

It looks as if you have Crossfade playback: switched on.
You can find this setting in Preferences>Playback.
    hope this helps.

  • End of songs got moved

Nine songs imported to same folder through iTunes got corrupted - the song stops before it actually ends, and the next song begins... before end of file. I'm not sure if this happened during or after importing, and so far I've only noticed this in one folder. Since I'm now far from home (where I left most of my CDs) this is quite worrying. Has anyone ever seen this before? Any way to prevent this? Thanks!

Then I definitely got something else, because this only happens in 9 songs of the same older (which has 10 songs). Basically, except for the 1st song, file ends do not coincide with song ends, and same thing for their beginnings. The last 15 seconds of the 2nd song got "eaten up" , then the 3rd song begins. Then there is a brief interruption when 2nd file and 3rd file starts, 15 seconds into 3rd song. And this repeats through all folder. Any clue?
