ITunes Full Screen with Dual Monitor Setup?

This seems like a poor design choice but I can't figure out any way to turn it off. Seems stupid if you can't...
If you have two monitors plugged in and try to watch a movie in itunes (or the visualizer) in fullscreen, it will go full screen on one monitor fine, but it also makes the other one go black and unusable.
Does anyone know a way to make iTunes go full screen in only one monitor without pointlessly rendering my second monitor useless? It would be nice to be able to browse the web or do work on one monitor while having the iTunes visualizer (or watch a TV show) on the other monitor. Quicktime pro does this without any issues.
Thanks.

For your wallpaper drag the window to cover it.
What I mean is that I don't see how you can do what you want, cause when you watch someting full screen you usually don't want to see your wallpaper on your second screen. And that if you want to work on your second screen you won't mind not having it full screen.
QT pro will allow what you want cause it assume that you are working on your movie.

  • Full screen with dual monitors

I have two monitors hooked up to my Mac mini.  Both displays are working in non-mirroring.  I want to be able to put something in "full screen" on one monitor but I still want to be able to do something via the other monitor.  Currently if I set a movie playing on I-Tunes to full screen, the other monitor will go dark.
How can I get the set-up to how I want it?

    That's annoying, isn't it?
It's why I quit using iTunes in full screen.
I play my movies in VLC and "maximize" the window so I can keep working on the other display. I don't knwo of any other way aorund it.

  • How to keep Flash in Full Screen on Dual Monitors

    Hi,
I have a simple question. What should I do, to make my application (written in Flex SDK 4.5.1) staying in Full screen when I work in 2nd monitor - like Youtube and Euronews player (http://www.euronews.com/news/streaming-live/) ?
I don't know, how should I embed my application correct or add something to source code to make it work? My application is working correct in Full screen mode, I can use keyboard etc. but I'm not able to make this working - it's always going back to normal when it loose focus.
I have read many topics on this forum and internet, so I'm not interested in solutions like: http://flash-full-screen-multiple-monitor.clangen.com/en/ or .dll tricks like http://lifehacker.com/5419028/keep-flash-videos-in-full-screen-on-dual-monitors
If Youtube and Euronews is working with normal Flash (my current 11.9.900.117) there must be a way?
If someone can type code examples (like for a total dummy ), it will be great.
    Thank you.

You'd want to ask in the Flex forum or Flash Professional forum, since you CANNOT edit ANY Flash content with Flash Player.

  • Mac: Full screen on dual monitors still doesn't work with Flash 10.2 upgrade

Recently upgraded to Flash 10.2 specifically for the ability to work on a second monitor while watching fullscreen video on the first.  It's still not working at all.  The second I click on anything on the second screen, the video jumps back from full screen.  I checked to make sure that these sites work properly with dual monitors on a Windows machine.  Any tips to get this working?  Without this feature, certain websites are completely useless.

Hi, I think you are right about it being in this latest FP update. The "More like This" feature on the right hand side of the threads is not working. I think I have some info on Full Screen, but not the dual monitor issue. I'll check to be sure.
I'll try to find some info on it. There were so many changes that came out with this last update.
Will get back to you when I find the info.

  • Full Screen Problem - Dual Monitors - Hulu Desktop

I am using Hulu Desktop with dual monitors. I keep Hulu on full screen on monitor #2. I use monitor #1 for computer use, etc.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to look at an app in full screen mode on monitor #1 and keep my Hulu full screen in monitor #2 at the same time. So if Hulu is playing and I open up a full screen Mail.app...the hulu screen (mon. 2) just shows that grey background.
Apple NEEDS to add a way to make the #2 monitor immune to the spaces functionality. That or make a way so that an app can stay on top of ALL SCREENS not just user-created ones.
I have seen people suggest the, "Right click the app in the dock and choose all screens" but that ONLY works for user-created desktops. It won't make the app be full screen over Mail, iCal, Address book, etc when they make their own spaces window.
    Help! :-)\

  • Second screen blacked out when full screen with dual displays

I have a MacBook Pro connected to an LCD display. I use both screens. When working from home I'd like to have my local machine showing on the LCD monitor and my work machine showing in the MBP screen. I can do this, however I can't have the work machine in full screen mode because ARD blacks out my main LCD monitor. This frankly drives me nuts as there doesn't appear to be a preference within ARD to change this.
iTunes does the same thing. If I want to watch a video full screen in one monitor it blacks out the other. C'mon Apple, Quicktime doesn't do this and has a preferences tab just for display settings!
Does someone have a suggestion, work around, or want to point me to what I might be missing to solve this issue?

I understand what you are doing, but when you are running as full-screen the second display is blacked out because your making your station only the target at that moment. You are telling ARD that you want nothing to do with your Admin station. Also because the target doesn't have a second screen, your is blank. This avoids any confusion as to what screen belongs to what machine. ARD is working as it was designed to.
iTunes does the same thing to hid extra screens that are not part of the presentation so they don't detract from the show.
With your Observe or Control in Windowed mode, make the window of you client to fill the display as much as possible. This is the best you can do. Besides, when you are Controlling a client in Full-Screen, you can't move files and such with drag-n-drop. So if you want to work on both at the same time, you need to stay in windowed mode.

  • MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk PerfCap with Dual Monitor setup

    Hi guys,
as far as I'm concerned, there shouldn't be a PerfCap when running a setup with two monitors on extend desktop setting, am I right? However, my GTX560-Ti does PerfCap and sometimes even does this while gaming (which is incredibly annoying). The only way to get it to clock up again is to reboot my PC.
My question is, why is that and how can I get rid of this behavior? I already tried updating the VBIOS but it didn't help.
    Thanks in advance
    Monsterkater

I'm sorry, I thought "PerfCap" would be a known term.
As the title states, it's a MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk. The Card is clocking down, GPU-Z reports "PerfCap Reason: Util" which is, according to Google Search, because it isn't challenged enough. However, when running a dual monitor setup it should (again according to Google Search) always run at the default speeds (950/1050/1900 Core/Memory/Shader). I have updated my signature to show my system details as listed in the Posting Guide.
The temperatures under load are okay, the highest I have seen was 76°C GPU, 74°C Memory and 69°C VRM (all of them measured with MSI Afterburner). I have tried several drivers including Beta drivers and always checked "perform a clean installation". I also tried updating the VBIOS. I didn't know what else to try because Google Search doesn't yield much results for this.

  • Preview app opens "split screen" on dual monitor setup

This is a minor issue, I rarely use the utilility "Preview" app. but I'd still like to understand this issue....I use a two monitor setup (MBP & StudioDisplay)..
The following happens if the window was last closed in "expanded" mode (you can see options for Drawer, rotate, etc)
When "Preview" launches and opens a window, it places the top portion of the window on the secondary display and bottom part of the window on the primary display.
This Does Not happen if the window was last closed in "non-exanded" (collasped) mode (sorry, I don't know the proper term).
In other words, in respect to it's position on the screen, when the window opens it always assumes it's in "collasped" mode.
    Weird... any comments?

There's something wrong with the way Preview handles dual monitors. In my case if I open a smallish item, for instance a small png, instead of opening in the upper left corner of my main monitor it opens so that about half an inch of the Preview window is sticking over onto the second monitor (which is to the left of my main monitor). I had never "collapsed" the tool bar before, so I just now tried that on a small png, then closed it and re-opened. Sure enough, without the toolbar it opens properly. Display the toolbar, close, reopen, and it sticks onto the second monitor. Weird indeed. Larger size files open normally.
This started with the Tiger version of Preview. If you wish you can send feedback:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/
Maybe it will help get this odd bug squashed in a future version of Preview.

Using this xorg.conf file, only my NEC LCD analog monitor could display KDE while the Samsung digital can't.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help guys, I'm halfway there.
The second monitor shows the KDE desktop, but it isn't exactly what I expected.  Right now, both monitors display at 1024x768 (each) or 2048x768 (total).  The larger monitor stretches and distorts the display of 1024x768 to its natural resolution at 1440x900 and it isn't what I wanted.  Other than that, the dual desktop setup behaves what I expected to.
Here's a snippet of my xorg.conf that currently works:

  • Applications in full screen with two monitors

Sorry if there is one grammatical error, do not write in English, and I'm using google translator.
The function of the Lion full screen is very good, but I have aserious problem. It turns out that I use my macbook for keynotes, in the role of "Extended Desktop" is often used in DVD videos. Butthe DVD player no native Lion gives the option to show what the monitor that I want to make it full screen. The result is that the videois always on the screen of the Macbook, not the projector. I always liked the DVD player's native mac, but I'm using an older version ofVLC to be able to play DVD on my keynotes in function "Extended Desktop". I found no configuration that gives the option to show which monitor the application must be in full screen.
Is there anything we can do about it?

    That's annoying, isn't it?
It's why I quit using iTunes in full screen.
I play my movies in VLC and "maximize" the window so I can keep working on the other display. I don't knwo of any other way aorund it.

  • Display sleep with dual monitor setup

I'm running a 17" studio display and a 20" studio display as a two momitor setup on a dual G5 2.0. The menu bar is on the 17". Unless I have display sleep in energy saver set to never, the 17" will go to sleep at the interval set in the preference panel, even when the system is in use. So far the only way I've found to get the display back off sleep is to put the computer itself to sleep - keyboard shortcut or by using the power button on the 17" and then wake it up.
I think this only started with 10.4.6. I can't upgrade to 10.4.7 yet - I run Avid Xpress Pro on the system and 10.4.7 gives dongle trouble. I've thrown away preference files, set and reset the sleep parameters. As it happens, I've had to reinstall the system a couple of weeks back, but the 17" studio still goes to sleep when it shouldn't.
The problem doesn't occur if the menu bar is on the 20" cinema display, but that's not the way I want it.
Anyone with the same problem,, or better a suggested solution?

finally found the solution (apple i hope your reading
this as this is a mad bug!)
you need to have the dock on the bottom of the main
screen in order to view the image on that screen.
Wierd, I have my dock on the left side of my main screen... which is to the left of my secondary screen. Perhaps you cannot have the dock in-between screens?
kgelner, how have you noticed the performance of your
card when working with aperture? Im seriously
debating upgrading mine as its just slow and annoying
I find it usable but I'm also only working with TIFF files (my camera is not supported). I am also pretty strongly thinking about going with the X800xt card, which should be at least twice as fast. Some operations (like a lot of Spot & Patch repairs combined with Shadows/Highlights) do make things a bit laggy.
I also have the 256MB version of the 9800, which I think helps with some of the larger images and operations.

  • IChat screensharing won't fully connect with dual-monitor setup

I've read through several threads but none seem to match the peculiar problem I am having.
My mum just got a new "13 MacBook Air and an external LG LED (E2240T) monitor. I ran software update on it so her system is current, as is mine (late 2009 MBP/24" ACD).
Screensharing works fine when her external monitor is not connected but when it is plugged in and we try to screenshare the audio connection is established but sharing won't fully load and stops with this:
We tried unplugging the monitor and then plugging it in once the screensharing connection was established and that ended up with the image on my end freezing.
Anybody else have a similar problem? Any suggestions?
For what it's worth with her old (2006) MBP and old LG LCD we had no problems.

    Hi,
I have an old 17" Studio Display (The one with the ADC connector) and a 19" CRT Screen that I have On sometimes with my G4/1Ghz Dual Processor.
    This is running Snow Leopard.
If I share Screens using iChat with my MacBook Pro, the MacBook Pro puts the Screens Side by side as one picture (You cannot view just one screen).
iChat has a Software "Camera" that deals with the "Desktop" or what ever is on it as the pic for the Screen Sharing feed.
I have tried several Resolution settings on the CRT and iChat seems to cope (They are in a fairly narrow band though).
It might be possible that iChat is having difficulty if the two screens are vastly different in Size or resolution settings.
You seem to be describing using a 13" screen and the 21'5" one which may explain it.
There may also be differences in the Ratio.

  • Login Window on Wrong Screen in Dual Monitor Setup

I have two monitors attached to my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.10. When I boot up with the lid closed, I see the start up sequence (Apple logo and progress bar) shown on the monitor that is my "primary" monitor of the two monitors. But when boot up is complete and the login window appears, it shows on the secondary monitor, not the primary. My primary monitor is connected via Thunderbolt, and the secondary monitor is attached to the HDMI port on my MacBook Pro. Any ideas how to set the login screen to show up on the primary monitor?

I have exactly this same issue on a Late 2012 Hexacore Mac pro (The last real one LOL)
My primary screen (a 24inch VGA 1080p monitor) shows the Apple boot logo (with progress bar) whilst the secondary display (32inch HDMI 1080p LCD TV) is plain white
then when the initial login box appears that comes up on the 2nd display (Even if it is turned off) meaning I have normally have to turn that screen on, log in then turn it off again
I have also noticed that the screen layout is wrong. Once logged in the 32" display is logically located above the 24" one. However for the login dialog they default to side by side. meaning movingthe mouse up to the TV to log in means going left ot right... Not very good really.
Not enough to make me revert to Mavericks from Yosemite, but still quite annoying.

  • T500 dim screen with dual monitors

We have a few T500's that are setup to use the laptop screen and a separate monitor as an extended desktop. For some reason when the laptop goes into lock screen or sleep mode there are a couple of units that when they are logged back into, the monitor on the laptop itself is very dim and the only way to get it to brighten back up is to reboot.
Does anyone have any ideas of what may cause this? I did upgrade one to Windows 7 and have not seen the issue since.
    Thanks.

Could it be that the Intel graphics control applet is applying some funky color calibration profile on resume? On my T400, it used to be that a resume would have the Intel applet overwrite Windows' calibration. Preventing some of the igfx___.exe's from starting at boot was a simple workaround.

  • Is a dual monitor setup with 2graphic cards possible?

    HI.
What i want to do is run Archlinux on my Desktop but i dont want to miss my second monitor.
I could use both monitor on my nvidia graphiccard but i want to use the energy saving features too (wich dont work with 2monitor on one card) therefore my windows setup is big monitor on nvidia and the smaller one on the intel onboard card.
They both get recognized by lspci but only the onboard cards isy being used (the onboard card is the first card on windows too).
So is it possible to get it to work? Id really want to use ARchlinux on my Desktop too but i dont want to use it with one screen or without energy saving?
Working compositing is a must, i want to use gnome3 wich is the only reason to swich to linux for the Desktop (arch is running on the laptop for ages^^) but i dont need to, Win7 is working flawlessly fine and i didnt have to pay for it (msdnaa).
    Thanks in advance!

hy do you need to clock down your card?
Most gpu have a function that clocks down the card@idle and or desktop.
In my case thats down from 850mhz(560ti)to 200mhz while using windows and 50mhz if the gpu load is low.
Thats about 20watts less then with full clock.
The problem is, that the gpu wont clock down with 2monitors on it, it stays at 850mhz.
Theres some driver tweaks for amd cards wich "fix" thatfix this (i believe its intentionl, 2monitors equals more load but its no problem with new cards...
Thats one reason i use my onboard gpu for the second monitor, it works well with windows and also means that swiching off fullscreen (games) to the desktop works a lot better, the second monitor can play a movie while playing wich doesnt work with one gpu and fullscreen.
I really dont need that with Linux since i use it for work and multimedia only but the energy saving feature is nice if the pc is on 8hours and more wich is often the case.
Can you tell which one do you run? I'm going to buy one for dual-monitor setup, and I'm looking for something that will work for shure.
As said dual monitor on one gpu works, amd can do 3monitors while nvidia can do 2 at once, that means if u intend to use 3monitors some day with ur card u have to buy an amd card.
i took the nvidia because is can use it to render videos with cuda support (its not working with all tools yet but its getting better and if it works its a lot faster then my cpu rendering).
PS: Thats one hread about the power saviing with 2monitors:http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=197557
since my monitors dont share the same resolution it seems that theres no way to make it work .
