Itunes genius error -8753  anyone?

right after genius finishes the first step (gathering information) and starts sending my information to apple the following error message shows up;
genius cant be updated... an unknown error has occured.
(-8753)
i tried ;
-wait and try again (for 4 months now)
-deleting cookies
-deleting plist files
-deleting genius file
-apple "geniuses" at the genius bar in zurich didnt know what to do.
-apple europe support has never heard of this error..
i created a new library and there it works fine. so it cant be my network or something. the error must be somewhere in my music or my library file.
anyone?
btw: i have 55k songs. all covered, rated and many intelligent playlists.
so deleting and re-adding the music (loosing library information) is not an option.
thanks in advance!

ok. mine does work again now. five months of waiting and trying.
all it was was some strange symbols, somewhere in my files. in my case it was these some strange squares. i can not paste them (i guess the posting/forum settings block them, just like genius
i found them by manually searching through my library. needle-in-the-haystack-style. no other way worked out unfortunately.
for other users with the same problem and probably with different symbols blocking the genius update mechanism i propose to do the same.
Find out when genius last worked, sort by date and look through the information of the songs (coment, album artist etc.)
people who have found theirs should post them for other users.
also for apple support, who haven't been able to fix this yet.
puh. finally. good luck to everyone finding out what symbol is stopping your library from connecting to genius...
ill go get a beer now.

    Hi,
I have found an solution for my issue. I have created an new iTunes Library and I have imported all the music again. I have not done an "consolidate" of the librarie!! After 12 h of running (nearly 100 000 titles) I have a new Library. The onyl thing is that I loose my playlists.
I have start Genuis to run and after an short time I got the results and Genius works. This was made 5 days ago and it still runs all fine. I am so happy to use the function again.
I hope that this can be useful for other users with the same issue.

You really need to put your codes between the
    [\code] tags
    see http://forum.java.sun.com/features.jsp#Formatting
for more infoCode tags might make it look a little better, but there's still too darn much code. We're volunteers, after all. It'd be a lot of work to review all of this stuff. Can you demonstrate your problem with something smaller? Learn out how to do a combo box with just a page or two and then appy that to your big problem. That's how I'd do it. - MOD

  • Has anyone been able to upload an ibooks file with audio only files (m4a) in it? I keep getting the following error message during the upload in iTunes Producer: ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets.

Has anyone been able to upload an ibooks file with audio only files (m4a) in it? I keep getting the following error message during the upload in iTunes Producer: ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets. then it names the file as an m4p file. Everything works beautifully on the iPad through Preview, and validates through iTunes Producer up until the attempted upload. If you've been able to accomplish this, please let me know how you prepared your audio files. Many thanks.

    Hello Fellow iBook Authors!
Today I received the same error that you all have been discussing.  I tried selecting the DRM
and this did not work for me, though I'm glad it did for some.  Here's what I did as a work-around. . .
Since iBooks Author did not have a problem with Videos, I simply used one of my video programs, ScreenFlow to turn the audio into a video file m4v.  I added an image and extended the length or timing of the image to span the length of the audio file.  Then exported as an .mov.  I then opened QuickTime and opened the file and exported the file to iTunes.
You can use iMovie, Camtasia or any other progam that will allow you to export the audio as a movie file.  Does this make sense?  I hope this helps, at least in the short-term.

  • ITunes Genius Unknown error 4010

I'm a bit tired of this issue which appears to be unresolved problem with iTunes Genius since September 2008. First my updates would get hung up on an iTunes error 4002. After seeing that the fix for this was to turn genius off and then back on, I started getting an Unknown error 4010. There seems to be no consistent fix for this and no word for Apple on what to do. Since the fixes seem so varied, I wonder if this is really an issue on the client end or is this a server issue?
I have deleted the .itdb files and that doesn't help - it just gets hung up longer before failing. Can someone provide an answer on how to fix (or whether or not it can be fixed).

Unfortunately Validator did not work for me.
    It gave errors:
    perl(13975) malloc: * vm_allocate(size=1069056) failed (error code=3)
    perl(13975) malloc: * error: can't allocate region
perl(13975) malloc: * set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug

    Out of memory!
Apparently it ran out of memory! I have 4GB. perhaps my .xml file is just too big (it is 273 MB). I tried an online xml validator, and it also chocked with a file this big. Maybe that is the problem apple is having as well.

  • I see that there are a lot of people who are experiencing the same problem I am when renting a moving from iTunes.  I keep getting the 5103 error.  Anyone ever receive a solution?  System Clock is set correctly.

Has anyone ever received a proper response to the dreded itunes 5103 error after downloading a rented movie on iTunes?  What's even worse is that I now can't delete them.  They just show back up when I check for downloads.  This has been going on now for over a month.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I found some troubleshooting steps in this article here:

  • Has anyone had an iTunes sync Error code 554?

Has anyone had an iTunes sync Error code 554?

On the Windows version of iTunes, error -54 means a general IO error occurred that can be caused by many different things: a file is corrupt, a file is locked, or an .m4a file could not be converted to a lower bit rate.
iTunes Library cannot be saved (Error -54) - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1912814
Unknown error (-54) while syncing ipod - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1082953 - problem was locked files
Why does iTunes keep showing a -54 error when I sync my iPad? - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3727114
Error -54 possibly related to Touch Copy - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3727114 - cleared by deleting preferences on iPad.

  • I got an error while updating itunes, it won't run apple mobile device and gives a runtime error, can anyone help ?

I have Windows Vista Premium (64) installed on my pc, never had this kind of problem before. I mostly use this computer only for itunes...
I tried to re-install itunes without success, now it gives a runtime error visual c++ runtime library , says to re-install itunes with error 7 (windows error 1114)
    Please help me! thanks !

I had the same problem. Use the uninstall feature to delete all of the Apple related programs that came with the recent download. There should be 3. Check the dates they were installed to be sure.
DO NOT DELETE any folders manually unless you want to lose playlists, etc.
Reboot your computer then reinstall. It worked like a charm for me!

  • Error with iTunes download. Can anyone help?

I tried installing the latest version of itunes and after being told that it had successfully installed, I tried to run the program and was greeted with the following message from itunes:
"Entry point not found. The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia. dll"
I clicked 'ok' and got another error message which said:
"itunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)"
I have tried un-installing and re-installing a few times as well as trying to download in a Firefox browser rather than internet explorer. No luck.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Error 13005 Anyone know what is going on?

When I try to run iTunes I get the above error. Even when I tell itunes to create a new library by holding down shift when I click on itunes, it still gives me this error. Anyone know what is going on?

Hello, I get that error message "iTunes error 13005". I have my itunes database on an ext HD, I completed an update yesterday from Apple and my itunes wont open on my computer, giving me the above error message. I have read the resolutions offerred in the thread but I not been successfull in solving the problem. I have deleted the Genius and extras files, rebooted the computer and still the same message. I dont think it is anything to do with the iTunes update as it had the same effect on another computer here that had been update. I think it is something to do with the Ext HD and possibly the extreme WiFi router and it's firmwire update.
    Did you resolve your problem?
    Thanks
    Chris

  • Itunes Genius - something funny/not working

I have been having issues with Itunes Genius not creating a genius mix.  Imagine, not even being able to create a genius list for a Beatles track.  Anyway, I was playing one of my genius mixes today, and thought to myself, if a song in this genius mix was selected for this genius mix, then I should be able to create a genius mix using anyone of the songs in the genius mix.  Guess what, was not able to create a genius mix from one of the songs in the mix.
    Funny.

I would boot to your install disc that came with your computer, like you're going to reinstall. After you pick your language, choose Utilities from the menu bar, open Disk Utility, choose your regular boot drive on the left column, then Repair Disk. See if it turns up anything. Then it wouldn't hurt to Repair Permissions while you're in there. Any permission errors can probably be ignored.
Repair Disk can fix directory problems, up to a point. Hopefully your drive is OK.
I'd give it a try anyway.
Tried that now, and its still the same, just wont work!

  • ITunes Genius - Updating

I've just started using iTunes Genius and I have a few questions.
    1. Besides updating manually, does Genius update on its own, and if so how often? I'd like to see Genius operate with a sort of "set and forget" ability where I can just add my songs and not have to manually update each time.
    2. In regards to the update feature. Genius scans my entire library when I select this option. This is quite time consuming (about 2 hours). It also seems to "Fail" with connection errors quite often. Is there a method in place to only scan new tracks I've added? I assume this is because Genius likes to gather fresh results for all of the library.
I'd also like to see some Genius tips/tricks/etc if anyone has any.
For reference, I'm working with an iTunes Library of about 80 GiB. iTunes version 8.2.
    Thanks!

sorry for bumping this thread up again. it'll be the last time.
i found the easiest way to resolve the 'network connection timed out' problem.
    1. just click open the eset icon in the tray area.
    2. make sure it's in advance mode. (look at the bottom of the windows) if not, then toggle advance mode.
    3. hit F5
    4. head to 'antivirus and antispware' >> 'web access protection' >> 'http' >> 'web browsers'
    5. here, find the 'program files\itunes\itunes.exe' in the list
    6. click once on the check mark in front of itunes.exe, so it becomes a red X cross.
done. you cane update genius now. easy.
DISREGARD THE POSTS ABOVE. THEY ARE WAY TOO COMPLICATED.
