ITunes gift card charges unauthorized by holder

Hello. I have an apple gift card which keeps getting charged with purchases but I didn't buy them. I reported the problem when I recd the bill but how do I recover the funds. How is someone charging to my gift card. Is my account in danger ?

The security of your account is your own responsibility. If you believe that someone is using your account, change the password.

Sales are considered final, and since you would not really be able to prove that you didn't make the purchases a refund is not likely to happen. Using the iTunes app on a Mac or PC you can log into your account details and view the itemized invoices for all purchases on your account, starting with the most recent purchases.

iTunes credits are, for example, if you download a song from the store and it's found to be corrupt - if the track can't be fixed then iTunes support will tend to give you a song credit for a free download.
When you purchase music from the store then any credits that you have will be used first, then any balance that you have (e.g. from iTunes gift cards or allowances), and any remaining amount will be taken from your credit card.

Gift Cards and Certificates are valid for use only in the country in which they were purchased. Only residents of the U.S may redeem gift certificates purchased in the U.S.
You can still help them set up an Apple ID without payment information so that they can download free items through the iTunes store though. The steps for performing that can be found in the following article:

I recently got some iTunes gift cards and would like to use them as the main source to fund purchases until they run out and then go back to using my debit card. How do I do this? Do I have to delete my debit card info and add the gift card info or is there a way to keep the debit card info listed but use the gift cards first?

You can redeem iTunes gift cards by clicking "Redeem" under Quick Links at the top right of the iTunes store.
Gift card credit is automatically used before your debit card, so there is no need to remove it. After your credit is used your debit card will be charged again.

You do not have to remove anything in order to use your balance.
It will use the balance first.

After establishing the Credit Card account (i.e. after you have made purchases), you can remove the credit card information by editing your payment info, choosing "None".

I've seen this question a dozen times, and nearly every time, the first person to answer assumes it was a gifted purchase. Weird.
Same problem here. Books are going to credit card despite sufficient balance on iTunes credit. Seems to be a common problem.

Gifts will be charged to your credit card - you can't use your acocunt's balance for gifting, you can only use your credit card.

I currently pay for my iTunes downloads direct from my Debit Card. If I add a gift card to my account will the cost of downloads come from that automatically or do I need to let iTunes know thats what I want?
Also - how do you add the card? I'm probably being totally stupid but can't seem to find an "add credit here" option.
