Beyond upset. Used the iphone camera scan feature to upload a $25 itunes gift card. It showed captured info & credited to account at the time. Go figure, less than a couple days later, the credit has disappeared. I was wondering why my credit card was billed for a movie I purchased this weekend. Super bummed I threw the gift card away. Lesson learned. DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE & KEEP ALL USED gift CARDS!! Sent in an email to customer service. Not very confident they will be able to retrieve credit or believe me.

When you select Redeem in iTunes app, you can select to use the camera or type in the code.

How To Determine the "Identity" of an iTunes Gift Card Redeemer

Good morning! I need to know if it is possible to determine which Apple ID was used to redeem an iTunes gift card. Here is the situation...
My 9 year old daughter received a $15 iTunes gift card for her birthday. After opening presents, my daughter and her "friend" went off to play with my daughter's new ipod. A while later, she came back to me with her Touch saying she needed help. Ultimately, the problem was that she was receiving this message:
"The Gift Certificate or Pre-Paid Code you entered has already been redeemed."
This was a brand new card that had not yet been scratched. We think her friend grabbed the card and redeemed it using her Apple ID. Of course, there was a shaky denial given when confronted on it, but before I go to this child's parents, I need to have proof.
So, is there a way to determine which Apple ID was used to redeem an iTunes gift card?

So, i was planning on asking someone to buy me a card from US, and i live in Ecuador, so i wanted to ask if i get email'd the code and i redeem it here (Ecuador), does it work or do i need to change store, or smthign like that?

It won't work - all iTunes gift cards are country-specific, to be able to redeem a US card you will need to be in the US with a US billing address on your account

I received a $25 iTunes gift card for Christmas. I gently scratch off the back to reveal the code and for the life of me there is one letter/numeral I just can't read. I tried a bunch but it never redeems. Anything I can do? It starts with XXT then it is anyones guess.

Hi, I sent someone an online iTunes gift card code as a present, although she failed to redeem it straight away.
I've been checking the status of the card/code within my iTunes account & for the past three months it read (Not yet redeemed)
However the status is now blank, does this mean the card/code has been redeemed or has it now expired?

First, make sure you're logged into the iTunes Store using the account ID and password you set up, or used, when you redeemed your card/gift. . If you are, try logging out of the account and back in.
If you're sure you are using the correct account and that you're logged in to the iTunes Store, and logging out and back in doesn't help, go to the Purchase History and review your purchases to make sure that you should indeed have a balance left. iTunes doesn't always refresh the balance it shows, so it's possible you spent the money and it just wasn't being reflected in the display. This display error can usually be corrected by logging out of the iTunes Store and then back in.
If you confirm that you should have balance left but the iTunes Store isn't showing it correctly, send a message to the iTunes Store customer service department through the form at the bottom of their Gift Card FAQ web page and explain the problem to them.

I already redeemed $10gift card, I bay application and it successfully installed I want to buy another application and it did not work and I get this message when I try to buy apps

I believe there may be a problem with your account. Assumably an easy fix. Does it ask you for your credit card information? If so, It does not recognize that you have any credit left on your account, in which case you should probably contact apple support in the link ckuan mentioned.
Scroll down to the bottom of the iTunes app on your phone. There should be a little bubble that says how much money you have left on your account. If it is below the amount of the cost of the app you are trying to buy then you don't have the neccecary credit. If you believe you do OR the number is in fact high enough to purchase the app, contact apple support in the link ckuan mentioned.

If you try to change the account you are logged into, to update the apps, you will not be allowed to log into your account again for 90 days. The apps are asking for your boyfriends details because those apps belong to him, you should delete them and purchase your own.

Not able to sign up for iTunes Match with iTunes Gift Card

Last night I purchased $30.00 worth of iTunes Gift cards , redeemed the cards against my iTunes account and attempted to sign up for the iTunes Match ($24.99 per year) only to find out that I must provide a credit card on file before they will allow me to sign up. I never imaged that Apple would require a credit card on file. One of the reasons that I chose Apple products was the ability to purchase with iTunes Gift cards to reduce my risk of fraud when the account become compromised .
Also I have Apple IDs for each of my children and they receive iTunes Gift cards as presents that they purchase Apps, Music etc that they want. That way when they grow up and leave home they have their own Apple accounts to take with them. Apple should want life long Apple customers!!   Just to let you know 14 year olds don’t normally have credit cards and I would never put my Credit Card info attached to their account. So if they own a Laptop, iPhone and iPad they are discriminated from using your iTunes Match because they don’t have a credit card? Really????
Apple to just let you know that I have a Microsoft XBOX Live membership that I purchase a Live gift card once a year to renew my subscription. I can’t believe that Microsoft can figure out how to provide customers a better user experience that Apple.
Please fix this quickly as I would like to use your iTunes Match and other iCloud services that you plan on releasing later this year however I will not be using my credit card so I may have to look for other device options.   If you need any help figuring out how to meet your business requirements please let me know as I would be glad to provide suggestions.

I've been through the same ordeal. I wanted to renew my iTunes Match service, had over $100 credit in the iTunes Store, but wasn't able to use that credit to pay for the renewal. Apple requires you have a valid, working credit card on file to renew for some reason. But once you put in a credit card, the charge is actually taken from your store credit, not the credit card. So, it's very odd and doesn't make any sense to me, either. But there's no way around it without a credit card, that's what Apple Support told me when I contacted them about this same issue.

Very very likely that tax is applicable and tax is more than $0.01. You need to add a payment method for the tax. If you add a credit card, the girft card balance will be used up first.
