Thanks for the reply. The Itunes trouble shooting in Itunes help. I don't get an error message, it just states can't see ipod like if it wasn't plugged in. I do get an error message on a few of the songs when sync that say error 50, and state that they can't be loaded to ipod. The weird thing is that I can load all of my libary except the latest 3 albums. They are in my libary but they won't load. I'm not sure but it seems like it started when the cloud came about from amazon which is where I buy most of my music.

  • Amplitude of music in iTunes - gone in v11 ?

In previous versions of iTunes (i.e. pre 11), one could toggle between progress of the song and the amplitude of the music in the small display at the top of the window. It seems to be gone. Clicking on the progress bar doesn't change it anymore to a view of the amplitude of the signal. Can anyone help?

I'm afraid you're right. Thanks, Steve!

  • IPhone iOS5 update – all songs bought on itunes gone

    Hello guys,
a friend of mine has just updated her iPhone 4 to the latest iOS and now all her songs are gone. I cannot find a solution, so maybe you guys have one. She has bought a lot of songs on iTunes but has never synced her phone with her computer. This means that iTunes has never made a backup of her iPhone and consequently no backup of her music. So my question is: is there a way of retreving the music that she has bought on iTunes?
    Kind Regards

  • ITunes Gone Haywire: Playlists, Folders, Settings and more

Hello all. Man...I really need some sage advice in a bad way. I've been trying my best to conquer this major iTunes problem of mine, but ultimately, I have just not been able to find a working solution to fix it. Even my efforts at pinpointing the source of my troubles have been in vain. I've finally become exasperated enough that I decided I be better off trying my luck here. Any help would be very much appreciated.
THE PROBLEM(S): A couple months ago I was working on some music projects within iTunes, when something seemed to go awry, because it promptly started acting strangely, not like it normally did, and that's when I began to experience the problems. It had always run smoothly for me up until then, but it's been giving me major trouble ever since. Here's some of what's been going on:
Playlists gone haywire: My entire stable of folders and playlists has seemingly gone mad, doing all sorts of unfortunate and crazy things. I routinely get new waves of unwanted playlists and folders appearing in my library--some are exact duplicates of playlists and folders that already existed in my library, while others bear the same or similar titles, but are deformed in one way or another. Moreover, I'll often get a bunch of very old playlists reappear--ones that I had long since deleted from my library. Other times I will find that a whole bunch of the lists and folders have suddenly disappeared again, or sometimes their location will change. The worst of all is when, as happened a few times, I just completed a bunch of changes and modifications to the library's folders and playlists, or I was working on a music project in some lists, and then suddenly it all disappears into thin air a short time later (after a reboot of iTunes, for instance).
    B) iTunes Library Files (itl, xml, genius, extras, and sentry): They refuse to nest in the main iTunes folder location they are supposed to reside in. Instead they insist on taking up residence in my Previous iTunes Libraries folder. I tried a few strategies I had come across here in the pages of the community, but none has worked to date.
    C) Unstable Preference Settings: At least a few times I've logged on to iTunes to find that my usual settings and preferences have completely changed, causing problems. Sometimes it will change my iTunes Media folder location in Edit>Preferences>Advanced to another location (like to my Previous iTunes Libraries folder location), thus creating a new hierarchy of media folders therein. Also, my settings in View keep changing back and forth, my sources in Edit>Preferences>General had changed on me one time, and more.
    MY CURRENT SETUP
-My PC: Dell Inc. Inspiron 580, Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition, Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
    -iTunes 11.1.3.8
Library Size: 335 GB, 24,734 files, 13,056 folders
    I'm an iTunes Match subscriber.
Current iTunes Media folder location via Edit>Preferences>Advanced tab: C:/Users/Dowgiert/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media. Both "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" are currently checked.
    Current folder path
Titles iTunes has chosen for my library files it uses: iTunes Library 2013-10-25 Extras, iTunes Library 2013-10-25 Genius, iTunes Library 2013-10-25 (.itl), iTunes Library 2013-10-25 (.xml), sentinel *See screen shot below.
Current location that iTunes uses for my library files (database .itl file, genius file, etc.) is: C:/Users/Dowgiert/Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries. The folder paths for these same files are: C:/Users/Dowgiert/My Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries.
-I also have an iPad 2, and a couple other iPods (classic and Nano). None of these currently has the iTunes library in the desired state (thus ruling out importing from them).
    WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR
-Backed up my library with SyncToy 2.1 (x64)
-I downloaded iTunes Folder Watch, however it doesn't seem to work until I fix the location of my .xml file.
-I've tried countless other fixes, changes to my software and PC, etc., but I won't list them all here now. Feel free to ask me more.
    WHAT I'VE NOTICED
-It seems like these unpleasant library changes are often more likely (but not always) to coincide with one of the following: an iTunes update; an iTunes Match update; a Genius update; an iTunes shutdown, followed by a later restart of the program.
Again, thank you so much for any help. I'm really stuck. I have all sorts of other information at the ready, so feel free to ask if you have questions.
    Forest

Hello again Mr. TuringTest2! Continued thanks for your help sir! I've long suspected that iTunes Match was partly responsible for my troubles, by the way. Let me update you on what's going on.
    New Steps I've Taken:
-After your last response, I did the readings (thanks!), and then began by turning off my iTunes Match. From reading the post you provided on resetting iTunes Match, I got the impression that my order of operations should go as follows (please correct me if I'm wrong):
    1st) Disable iTunes Match. [Completed]
2nd) Clean up my library [Started, but not completed*]
3rd) Try the Shift+ start iTunes Match technique to try and successfully clear away any harmful entries that might be saved in my Apple iCloud/iMatch database. [Incomplete]
4th) Restart iTunes and turn iTunes Match back on. Determine if the problems continue. [Incomplete]
    *UPDATE: STEP 2 INTERRUPTED
I began clearing, moving, and modifying the playlists and folders that were the unwanted end-products of my recent troubles. I was making good progress cleaning up: Went from 258 playlists (regular) down to 200, and from 67 folders and subfolders down to 27. I hadn't yet deleted any of my 56 smart playlists, but did place them all into one folder (to organize them for later cutting).
Then came the hiccup. I didn't know clicking the button seen below on my account page would automatically turn iTunes Match back on, but it did:
Match ran it's usual 3-step process, and in just a few moments, undid the almost all of the aforementioned progress I had made. Of course, as it seems want to do, it added back a whole bunch of trash playlists and folders.
I ran a couple of your scripts to assess the damage. They showed that just by this accidental restart of iTunes Match alone, my library ballooned from 200 reg playlists/56 smart lists/27 folders, all the way up to new totals of 264/64/47!
When I returned to the problem today, first thing I did was turn iTunes Match off again. This resulted in dropping the totals to 235/63/47. I found that odd, so I did some more testing--turning Match on and off, each time recording the results. Here's all the recorded results in total numbers of regular playlists, smart playlists, and folder counts after each change:
    Off:     200/56/27
    On:     264/64/47
    Off:     235/63/47
    On:     285/64/48
    Off:     256/63/48
    On:     306/64/49
    Off:     277/63/49
I ran your PlaylistToFile script each time after I turned iTunes Match off (it wouldn't run when I had Match on for some reason) and made copies of the results. I wanted to be able to see the specific changes being made each time, and to try and determine which specific playlists and folders were acting up. I you think taking a look at these results would be useful, I've copied them into a shared google document you can access at the following link:
    -https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ESzfCpcO14krXp5sTQdMke0CpFDF--gbwVxrGaNmbgw/ edit?usp=sharing
I also noticed that iTunes started creating more backups of my library's database files within the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. Here's an image of the new ones:
Also, it appears iTunes created new .itl and .xml files in my main iTunes folder (see below). Or at least that's what the "Date Created" info column says. What up with that? Also, I still have the Trash folder here that you told me to set up, and a couple new .tmp files have appeared. Here's how it looks:
What do you think I should do tt2? If I had completed the four steps (outlined at top) without accidentally turning on Match before I all four were completed, would that have fixed the problem? Should I do something different, or in a different order? I'm all ears. Thank you so much for all your help!
    Eternally grateful,
    Forest

  • What just happened? - iTunes gone crazy

So, this just happened: I opened iTunes and EVERYTHING was gone, all the songs, podcasts etc. I can find them from my computer but they seem to have disappeared from my iTunes. Is there any sensible explanation for this? Has my computer been hacked or could I have done it myself by accident?

Go to my documents/MyMusic/itunes/itunesMusic and see if there is anything there. if not it is a problem with XP.
If all your music is there go to edit... preferences...advanced there make sure your iTunes music location is C:\Documents and Settings\"Your computer name"\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
if not change it to that.

  • Itunes gone mad!

    Hi guys!
My itunes has really gone crazy!
My system is Win 7 64 bit
It won't recognise iphone connecting prompt,
won't open for about 3-4 mins after double clicking,
    Long delay on menu clicking
comes up with sync services error message, iphone recognition error message and another error I can't remember.
Has no recognition of email or calendar sync in 'Info'
Takes about 15 min to sync
    Does not sync successfully
    To remedy this I have:
    Reinstalled itunes 4 times!
    Reinstalled all Apple products
Done a fix I found online...something about deleting the SC info
Nothing has worked and I am stressed as I use it for syncing all my business stuff...
Any help would be REALLY appreciated!!
    Best,
    Chris

    Thanks B,
I have not, to be honest, as the problems are more far reaching than just the error messages.  I want to try to get the program to respond normally first, i.e. not take 5 min to open up.  I have just tried removing all traces of Apple software, no luck with reinstall, then tried an earlier version, no luck, then tried opening an new user account, no luck!!
Could some system software associated with iTunes be damaged?  I did install some Nokia sync software before holiday...but deleted as a step to solving this issue.  It is as if iTunes refuses to run normally on my computer any more.  I'm feeling a full system reinstall might work but Jez, I dont need that right now!!
    Best,
    Chris

  • Where has all my music I loaded onto itunes gone?

I updated itunes to the latest version a while ago and it's very confusing to understand.
All of my music I've loaded previously has disappeared and only my purchased items show in my library (with the icloud button).
I previously had 717 songs in my library.
    Now it's down to 184.
All my 717 songs are on my iphone & ipad... but they don't show up on my computer.
And when I plug in my iphone and synch everything some of my latest purchases don't transfer..
Can anyone please help me and tell me where i've gone wrong?
I want to listen to my new songs on my iphone but they dont transfer over :'(

If you are signed in to iTunes 11 then an "empty" library lists your past purchases for you to stream or download.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • New leopard install all itunes gone

I had to reinstall leopard after it froze on the apple screen w the spinning gear. I reinsatalled and now all of my itunes and everything is gone. can i get it back off of my ipod or some other way? desperate. I'm worried ive lost all of my music on my computer.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Whenever you install new software, you MUST backup your data. No ifs, ands or buts. Here's how to backup your data*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
The iPod is not a backup. The way music is stored on the iPod does not allow for easy recovery from the iPod, as it is designed to prevent piracy of music. All the software which I've tried to use to recover from the iPod data has failed in one way or another. You'd have better luck trying to use one of the data recovery techniques listed in my backup FAQ from your existing computer.

  • Bass in iTunes gone after updating to 11.1.2?

I just recently got the iTunes 11.1.2 update through Software Update on my Snow Leopard. Now, whenever I play a song, the bass is completely gone - it sounds really tinny through both my headphones and the Macbook's inbuilt speakers, like the sort of thing you'd get from really bad sound systems.
Curious thing is though, when I click a preset in the equalizer while my music is playing, the bass returns. I usually set it to the "Bass Booster" preset, and although the bass doesn't come through at all when I first play a song, after I click the equalizer preset, all the bass returns. This has happened ever since I got the update.
Also probably related, but on the very first day of the update, all my songs had really heavy bass - it was the exact reverse of my current situation, the treble was completely blurred and the bass was really loud. And again, when I clicked an equalizer preset, it went to that preset and the treble returned.
    Thoughts?

Try unchecking Sound Enhancer and Sound Check in your Preferences under Playback
Sound check may have reduced everything to a low output level inadvertently.

  • Itunes gone blank :(

ok so i tried copying and pasting my itunes to the other account on my computer.. but now my itunes has NO songs at all... its gone back to defaults settings.. all i want to know is how can i get my songs back.. and if i can do it with my ipod instead of the technical computer crap ?

Drag all of the song files into the open iTunes window. This may require putting them in a location accessible to both accounts and won't transfer over playlists or other data.

  • Setting for iTunes gone, reverted back to like 1st time I installed iTunes

    Hello,
Today when I plugged my iPod into my laptop, iTunes (v.8) responded as though I had never configured it before. It asked me about file formats, etc. All my playlists are gone, all my podcasts, all my app store purchases, everything.
Looking at the directory where all my music is, everything seems intact. Any ideas on what is going on? It worked fine yesterday. I didn't install or change anything on my computer today.
    Thanks a bunch.
    -- Val

Well ... I'm not sure why it did this, but it did. My music folder is on a separate partition. When iTunes reset my settings, it also reverted the music library back to the default. Going to edit -> preferences -> advanced and changing the folder location did nothing. Not even sure why it's there!
At any rate, after digging for a few hours, I finally found something. If you keep the shift key pressed while launching iTunes, it will ask you to confirm the location of your library (.itl file). I specified my other partition and voila, I'm back in business.

  • Registry settings for iTunes gone

I just installed iTunes on Vista and my cd drive disappeared. I found a reg hack for fixing that but now iTunes says its registry settings are gone. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, no avail. Tried installing the GEAR drivers, no help. Anything else I might have missed?

I guess I'll be buying music elsewhere. So long iTunes.

  • Hot link to podcast 'site' within itunes gone?

    Dear all,
It seems the 'link' that used to be present at the top of the podcast list to allow you to navigate to its 'site' within iTunes is gone. Am I missing something? I really miss having this feature as it allows me to look up whats available in the archive, etc. Now I have to search out the site within the iTunes podcast store, etc.
    Thanks,
    Nick

Hi. Thanks for complaining. There are quite a few of us who really miss that little arrow. The more people who complain about this, the better our chances are of ever seeing those links again. It really is cumbersome to search the Store without the link.
I am very disappointed that the issue wasn't fixed with the last update.
Tell you friends to complain, too. We'll never get those arrows back if we pretend we don't notice.
