ITunes greying out an album

I purchased an album off my iPhone using iTunes last night and now I can't get it to open in iTunes on my computer.  It shows the album, but it's greyed out and I can't play any of the music.  I have my settings set to sync all of my music to my phone and I don't have 'manage manually' checked.  I've tried everything I can think of.  I just want to be able to back that album up and play it on my computer as well.  Any ideas?

Hi,
Did you ever find out how to get those albums to open in iTunes?  I'm having the same issue.
Thanks

  • Itunes greyed out songs....

i have itunes 8.2 and the ipod update 1.0.3 on my 4th generation ipod nano. i cant change the music info it is all greyed out but i can change the titles of the music that i imported off the cds, please help.

Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes. If you want to play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The text will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:

    Syncing Music to iPod
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Itunes greyed out; can't play on computer

Got a new computer. Went to iTunes and discovered my purchased tunes were in bold. I could see all imported tunes on my ipod but they were greyed out. Did a little research and discovered this is to prevent music pirating but there is a work around for legitimate purposes. So I transferred all the music from my ipod to my PC. (I dragged the ipod music folders into the Windows Media Player). I played a couple of them and it seemed all was going well. then I went to iTunes to see what was going on there. I couldn't find any music, purchased or imported without going to the ipod. All the songs were there but greyed out. Now I can't even play them on the computer. I get a message," Window Media Player cannot find the file." As it stands now I can't do anything with my music on iTunes ( play, move songs, create playlist, etc) or on my computer. Fortunately I didn't screw up my ipod, but of course I can't rearrange anything on it without first doing it on iTunes and the syncing.

    Any help here?

  • "Quit iTunes" greyed-out

Since updating to Lion and iTunes 10.4, I'm frequently having an issue after adding files to iTunes.  The menu item "Quit iTunes" is greyed-out and I'm unable to quit the application without force-quitting (command Q also doesn't work).

Same problem here, though I don't have Lion installed.  Also lost the ability to change view via keyboard shortcuts - it will work if I click on the icons to the right of the play/info window but the menu options under View are greyed out.  Same with Control functions - space bar works to play and pause, clicking the icon works but the menu options are greyed out.  Requires a force quit to recover, but as soon as I add new things to iTunes the condition returns.

  • Itunes greyed out when Ipad connected

    Hi
I recently updated my software on my Ipad.  Now when I connect to itunes although I can see my ipad in the left hand devices menu I cannot selected any of the options in itues such as music, apps etc.   If I tick the Synic box I get the message about synicing all of the music in my itunes folders etc which I do not want to do.  I want to manually manage my apps and music like I always do (did) but all those are now greyed out.   However, when I connect my Iphone this works fine running on the same up to date software etc.  AND when the Ipad is connected to itunes I can select the music from my folders listing on the lefthand bar and manually drag it to the ipad but it does not go in the music folder it just sits at the bottom of the listing, and once disconnected from Itunes I can go into the ipad and the music icon and see and play the music which is in individual folders.   Any ideas please.

If you are saying that your photo application opens on your PC (guessing it's a PC) maybe this will help.

When your iPad is connected to your PC with iTunes running, you can set iTunes to launch automatically when the iPad is connected to your computer in the Summary tab of iTunes.

  • Syncing music on 4s and ITunes - Greyed out songs

For some reason, when I sync my iphone to itunes on my Macbook Pro, there are a group of about 30 songs that keep reappearing greyed out on the ITunes screen on the computer.
I've deleted these songs from the phone, I've deleted any pending downloads on the phone. I can delete all of the music out of the phone itself and out of the Iphone music screen in ITunes while it's connected, and sync them and they disappear. But the second I unplug it and plug it back in, they show up greyed out again in the music window for the iphone in Itunes on my macbook.
    Any suggestions? It's extrememly annoying.

BUT when i go to try the same in 'icloud settings' it brings up my old Apple ID email address, and the fields to change your email are blanked out so the old email wont budge!!!!!!?????
everywhere else my details are my new email address -  work fine to download etc.
I have contacted apple support chat people, they took my through support online - outcome 'book a phone call' only slot they have in at 2.15AM!!!!! in 10 days time??!!!!!! I had to drive over an hour to store today, and i wont be doing that again!

  • Greyed out info

Why are some of the songs imported to itunes "greyed out" in the get info area and unable to be changed? Also, what is the purpose of the check box before each song listing. I can't find its purpose in the manual. And why do songs start playing by themselves in itunes? I find no player controls [such as stop].

The check boxes have a few uses:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
The iPod has an option that when set means that it doesn't update unchecked songs

  • I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes shows album as purchased but album is not in my Mac library.

I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes store shows album as purchased but album does not show up in my Mac library. How can I retrieve the album.

So i've found the answer to this by clicking on every menu and setting in the itunes store. It turns out some purchases in the cloud can be hidden probably as the result of an interrupted transfer/sync/backup or a network outage. To unhide purchases 'greyed out ' items , go to the Itunes store (on the PC) click on your account name and select view account. (you'll be prompted for your itunes password) once you are in scroll down to the purchase history section. there should be an option for hidden purchases. click through and click on unhide purchases, redownloadble purchases. any hidden purchases will then show up. click on unhide to reactivate and download. This may only work for purchases in the cloud.
    hope others find this useful.

  • How do i delete photos on my iphone that were previously deleted from itunes? cannot remove photos from iphone album.  trash can is greyed out.

how do i delete photos on my iphone that have already been deleted from my windows laptop? The photos cannot be selected and removed from the iphone album.  trash can is greyed out.

You should be able to delete the photos by syncing with iTunes. Either remove the checkmark beside "Sync Photos From" on the photos page of iTunes or change the selection of photos to be synced. Each time you sync it is supposed to set the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

    Hi
    My first thoughts are
    • iMovie ill behaving - Trash the iMovie pref file - use to set things right
    • in reg. to Photos - Did You change iPhoto Photo Library - Then iMovie get's lost as it peeks into iPhoto on start up to see where photos are stored. Set iPhoto back to first Photo Library (when iMovie is not running) then start iMovie.

  • Songs greyed out whenever I connect my iPod to iTunes?

I own an iPod touch 4G. The problem I'm having is whenever I connect my iPod to iTunes, a certain 6 songs show up as "greyed out" and are listed as the most recently added songs. It's not a huge problem but it's bothersome. One of the songs, "Survival" by Muse is on my iPod, the exact same version I purchased and it is not greyed out and I can play it normally. The other songs I don't have on my iPod (not from their respective albums at least, but from a compilation I purchased). They do not show up greyed out on my iPod music, just on iTunes under Music under my iPod name. I don't know why these 6 songs show up greyed out, there's no reason they should. Please help me get rid of this so I don't have to deal with it again!

Try a new cable and different USB port
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
