  • Problem restoring my iPod - "Resource was not found"

My iPod hardrive is a little bit dodgy (to say the least.) When I try to connect it to my computer, it comes up with an error message that says "ITunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."
So I restore it, but then another message pops up that says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod “iPod.” The requested resource was not found." and then iTunes stops recognizing my iPod.
    Any suggestions?

i was also having the same problem. i seem to have fixed the problem but time will tell.
    here is what i did.
    1. you have to get rid of itunes 7. i did a lot of reading on the internet looking into error 1418 and 1429 and this is happening to a lot of people after they do the software update. trash everything except the itunes music folder, (where all of your mp3's a stored. don't empty the trash until you have your old songs back on your new old version of itunes 6, just to be safe.
    2. find a download for itunes 6. not the easiest thing in the world but you should be able to find it on a bit torrent or ask a friend that might still be running on that to send you a copy.
    3. you can try and restore your ipod with the old ipod updater that comes with itunes 6, (2006-01-10). it might not work the first time, it might not work after several. but at least give it a go. mine would update sometimes but then when i tried to play songs on it later it would just tear through songs and not play anything.
    4. open up your disk utility program. i ran a repair permissions and repair disk first, both times i got a message saying there was a bad btree situation going on. if you don't get this message, i suggest trying to restore it again before you go to step five.
    5. you are going to have to completely erase the **** thing. choose erase and pick the default option that comes up (mac os extended (journaled))
    6. your ipod is going to be in disk mode now, don't trip out.
    7. run the ipod updater again. once again, mine wouldn't allow me to eject the ipod once it was done so i just restarted it.
after all this, it opened up itunes and asked me to name my ipod. everything has been cool now since this morning. good luck!

  • Problem restoring my ipod touch

I had to put my new ipod touch that i got last week into restore made because it was having problems. My ipod touch doesn't even turn on and show the connect to itunes icon anymore. I plugged it back into my computer (windows xp) and I open up itunes. Itunes says that there is an ipod in restore mode that needs to be restored before using it. I click restore and an error comes up saying: "software for this ipod is not currently availabe. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again". I have downloaded iTunes 8 and tried to restore it but it still does not work. If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

try reseting your ipod by holding the home button and the sleep/wake at the same time until the apple logo appears on screen after you disconnect it from itunes.

  • "iTunes Has Stopped Working" when syncing iPod Touch

So in the last few days, I've been getting an error message when I try to sync my iPod Touch 2g with software version 3.1.2. After a few seconds, I get this error message "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." It only happens when I plug in my iPod for syncing.
I've been up and down the message boards here looking for a solution and I can't seem to find anything that works. I've uninstalled/reinstalled quicktime, then the iTunes software, I've deleted and remade my iTunes library file... I'm just at a loss. Here's the error information windows gathered up...

  • ITunes has stopped Working when using Ipod shuffle 3gen on Windows Vista HB

Itunes keeps shutting down when I insert my Ipod shuffle into the usb connection of my latop. I am using a Windows Vista Home Basic for an OS.
Not sure if this is a Vista, Apple issue, or something else...
I have contacted apple about this and uninstaled/reinstalled Itunes. Yet after all this, I get the same error message. The message reads:
"iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
As far as I know Vista should be compatible with iTunes and it is until I actually try to use my shuffle (newest model). Its weird because my shuffle works fine on a second computer that has Windows XP for an OS...
Does anyone have a solution to this??
    Thanks in advance!

i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)

  • HT201413 when i installed itunes in my old computer it would disable my CD burner and I was only able to burn through itunes. has this problem been resloved or will i have the same problem when i download it into my new computer?

When I installed itunes into my old computer (loaded with Windows Vista) it deleated my CD burner and would only allow me to burn via itunes - I had to go in to Best Buy to have them fis the problem but was told not to download new updates for itunes or it would do the same. with this fix I am not able to burn CDs from itunes which is a bummer.  If I download itunes onto my new  computer (loaded with Windows 7) is it going to do the same thing or has  this problem been resolved?

Copy them from your old computer, or your backuo copy of your old computer. to your new one.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  the exception is itunes purchases.

  • I'm Having Problem Restoring my iPod

Ok so my one day I tried to put songs into my iPod Touch - 32GB
Then it keepsgetting an error something about sync.
I've been checking the forums and people say that the best way is to
restore your iPod. First what i did was reset my Unit then connected it to Pc
With itunes on it says that 'iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "iPod Touch" Go to the Summary tab in iPod Preferences and click restore to Restore it to it's factory Settings.'
(When it doesn't contain anythinig at all why cant it read contents? Lol)
Then When I tried to restore I keep getting Connection error everytime the download is 100%.
So then I tried manual restore, meaning I downloaded an ipsw restore file for the latest update.
5.1.1 9B206. Then It started extracting it was going good until it reaches 'Preparing to restore iPod' Then an Error came up.
Something about failing to restore because an unknown error Occured. Error 2005.
Now before I goe here, which is my last resort. I've done everything possibly that people posted here and everywhere else.
    *I've reinstalled iTunes
*I made sure iTunes is on latest verion. 10.6
*I removed every usb jacks except mouse and keyboard.
*I tried using the back USB ports.
*I removed everything, itunes, quicktime and mobileme and Reinstalled them.
    *Restarted alot of times.
    NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED.
my iPod is working fine it's just that I cant place anything with it in iTunes. (As stated above sync problems.)
That's why im restoring it. Til now its working fine just really cant restore any sync it.

  • Why does Itunes want me to restore my ipod touch

Today my iPod asked me to update from ios 5 to ios 6. I decied that I had time so I agreed. While My iPod was updating I plugged it into my dock to charge. When it was charged the update was complete so I turned it on. It came up with a picture notice saying plug into iTunes
like above. So I plugged it into iTunes and it said that I had to 'RESTORE MY IPOD'. But I have a few paid for apps and important photo's on my iPod and I don't want to have to pay for them again/lose them. Please help me as my iPod is very important and I don't want to have everything restored to factory settings.

    Something happened during the update. Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. If necessary try;
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Restoring from backup  should restore the photos from the backup.

  • ITunes always wants to restore my iPod Touch (4th gen, IOS 5.1.1) constantly

I have an iPod Touch 4th gen, IOS 5.1.1
When I plug it into iTunes, I get an eror message saying:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the Summary tap in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
I have restored my iPod like the message says, but once it is done restoring and I have unplugged it from the computer, the next time I plug it in the message comes up again. I have tried reseting both from backup and as a new iPod.

  • ITunes has detected problems with your audio configuration

    Hi there!
I recently had to reformat my PC after problems with Windows 8.1, 64 bit version.
I have just reinstalled iTunes and now I am getting an error: "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio / Video playback may not operate properly."
I looked at other posts concerning this issue. In the most recent post, the poster was able to resolve the issue himself, but wasn't sure how he did it, and the older posts were archived and I could not access them.
Didn't have this issue prior to the re-formatting and reinstallation, so not clear what to do.
    Please assist.
    Thank you!

P.S. I am able to hear sound out of my speakers, so I don't think it's a problem with the speakers or the sound card.

  • TS1717 What can be done if Windows keeps saying iTune has a problem and shuts down.

I have tried all the troubleshooting steps:
    1. uninstalling and download again
    2. turn off firewall
    3.run virus scan
    4.open new account
The problem persists, I have my library backed up, but no way to play on my computer. This happened about the same time I upgraded to version 10.7, OS is Vista. Thanks for any assistance.

  • Problem restoring my ipod. Itunes does not recognize ipod in recovery mode

The other day i decided to update the software of my Ipod touch to the latest version. The download went smoothly, later on while installing the new software an error message appear and the instalation was not completed.
Now my ipod is like a NEW ipod with the USB cable and the ITUNES logo on the screen. I tried restoring it but an error message appear 'error 1601'.
RIGHT NOW my computer and my itunes does not recognize my ipod. I think the ipod is in recovery mode.
PS: I already uninstall and install itunes.
Thanks in advance. I'm freaking out!!

Already done that. The USB port is 2.0 and is on the back of my computer and i am not using any dock or external hubs. The cable i am using is the one that came with my ipod when i bought it.
I connected the cable to ALL the USB ports just in case the one i was using was not working properly but the error continued. I also check that the USB ports are not protected (meaning the USB port is blocked and recognizes the ipod as a virus). I also deactivated the firewall just in case it was blocking itunes or the apple mobile device support.
I've done everything and i am freaking out!! Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! thanks anyway lllaass

  • "itunes has detected a mac formatted ipod.  you must restore this ipod before you can use it on windows."

I got the error message above when connecting my old 1st generation ipod to my new PC.  My Mac laptop was stolen in a break in at my home, and I no longer have my music files stored anywhere else but this ipod.  i don't want to restore it if this process will wipe all my music away.  This might be a dumb question, but I am not very savvy with technology.  how should i proceed?

If you proceed you will lose all of your music. You weren't using Time Machine on your laptop?

  • Okay friends seriously- has anyone ever restored their iPod?

I'm going on almost an hour of my iPod restoring itself to factory settings. Im thinking that something is wrong because the status has said "waiting" for about an hour.

Well..I am kind of in the same boat. I just received the Black 80GB Video iPod. Now mind you, I have had an iPod before, so I am familiar with it all. But this one decided to corrupt itself within the 2 days I have had it. I am not sure what caused it, whether it be the latest version of iTunes (which I have read has some bugs) or something I loaded onto it (music, movies, tv shows, etc.). Who knows? What I do know is that it is constantly in the Do Not Disconnect screen with the round "NO" symbol above it. I have tried to reset it with and without connecting it to the computer. If it is not connected, it tells me in 4 different languages to connect it to the computer. And when I do it flashes DO NOT DISCONNECT and charges the battery. After awhile it freezes on that screen. I have tried to restore it.....on two different computers, different USB ports and I keep getting the same message. It will attempt to restore with the progess bar going back and forth...and depending where the IPOD is in it's frozen or unfrozen state, the computer eventually gives me the message The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error ocurred (1418). What the heck do I do. This all started when my iPod would not turn off. So I decided to hook it up to my computer to refresh it or something. But then I found out it is CORRUPT. How it got that way, I do not know. Any suggestions anyone? All I want to do is restore the **** thing so I can reload all my stuff back onto it. I am in Denver at the moment by the way...trying to get back to LA...so the suggestion of going to the Apple store will not fly at the moment. No pun intended. I am looking for a good ol' home remedy. There has to be something I can do. Anyone? Please.
    Matt
