ITunes has ceased to work.

I've tried rebooting, I've tried reinstalling, I've tried everything the http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ page suggests. When I open iTunes, it immediately gives the "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." error message.

Haha. I have about 45 GB of content total. (thousands of songs, hundreds of audiobooks, hundreds of music videos, a few movies) I'm using the most recent version of iTunes, whatever it is. =P and my computer is very screwy. I've had it freeze 3 times where I had to restart the computer by holding down the power button, and sometimes the screen becomes covered with noise and the monitor becomes completely useless for a few minutes.

  • Itunes has suddenly stops working when any player connected

Itunes has always worked fine on my HP laptop running Vista. With no changes in configuration or software, Itunes has suddenly stopped working any time an Ipod, Nano, or Shuffle is attached. I have tried to reinstall all software, restart computer, checked devices for updates. Have also tried solutions published on Apple support page. Nothing works. Itunes starts and works fine until a device is connected, but then I get the message that the program has stopped working and needs to close. Occasionally the whole system crashes and I get a "blue screen" error.

  • TS3212 iTunes has ceased to load up

iTunes has failed to load, so I have re-installed it and repaired it, but is still fails to works.
Any suggestions as to how I might resolve this issue?
    I have a windows 7 based pc.
    Regards

That's about how long iTunes starts up for me but I have over 42,000 items. I definately do not expect the program to open up instantly. The amount of RAM and virtual memory you have available will also determine how fast the application opens and functions. I recently freed up a bunch of space on my start-up disk and that helped things quit a bit.

  • Background music option in slideshow has ceased to work in iPhoto

I have followed the instructions in the "Setting slideshow options" page to the letter and am unable to hear or prelisten to background music for a slideshow from within iPhoto. I have no problem seeing my iTunes library from within iPhoto and the music I am selecting is not protected. This functionality used to work in iPhoto and I can listen to music directly in iTunes (not a hardware issue). The symptoms are that the slideshow starts as if no background music has been selected (it has of course). I have updated to iPhoto 6.0.5, I'm running iTunes 7.0.2 and I have all OS (10.4.8) and firmware updates on this MacBook Pro. I am starting to think that this functionality stopped working as a result of updating Mac software but I'm ready for something more obvious. Anyone had the same problem? Can anyone please help?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you repair disk permissions after each of the updater were run? It's important that it be done after any software installation or update. I'd give it another go and see if that helps. Also Terence's question regarding Quicktime is important.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Itunes has suddenly stopped working

I have the Mac OS X version 10.4, 2 GHz Power PC G5. Up until this morning, my mac has run itunes perfectly. Yesterday evening, I was attempting to download a song from the itunes store and I received a message that I needed an itunes update. (7.5, i think). Anyway, I downloaded that update and now itunes will not open at all. I keep getting the following message: Itunes requires Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later for more info in upgrading your computer visit apple.com/macosx. I have visited the site and it has the same update that I downloaded last evening. I have tried setting up a new account and itunes will not open there either. I get the same message stated above. Any help will be appreciated! God Bless!

What specific version of Mac OS X 10.4 are you running? It may be that the message is giving you the correct information and that you indeed need to update your version of Mac OS X 10.4.

  • My iPhone4 Home button has ceased to work.

It was intermittent for a while and now has stopped working altogether.  Any ideas?

If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage definitely have Apple resolve the problem for you.
If no coverage, first step is to clean the iPhone Dock Port to see if this returns the function, use a clean dry toothbrush. If nothing, try cleaning Dock Port with a bit of Isopropyll Alcohol.
If still no function, next step is Restore iPhone Firmware. If still problem then Home Button Flex will need replacement or you have serious Logic Board problem.

  • After updating Firefox on my MacBook Air (OSX 10.6.8), it has ceased to work. I open it, but it never gets beyond the Connecting... message.

I have always used Firefox on my MacBook Air. But since updating to the latest version of Firefox (7.0.1), it freezes as soon as I open it - there is a constantly running "Connecting..." message, and the little circle turns continuously, and there is a blank page. Eventually, I get an error message saying "Connection Timed Out" - and it does not matter which website I try to contact. All my other browsers (Safari, Chrome" work fine

    Hi franverdi-
It sounds like you've run into issues from the upgrade. I've found a Support article that helps with issues of not being able to connect after an upgrade:
    [[Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox]]
    I hope that helps!

I use windows vista and I have upgraded my itunes.  Now when I open it, it gives me a message saying "itunes has stopped working"  and then gives me a message saying it will notify me for a solution.  What can I do to fix this so it can open and not give me any more problems???

  • HT1689 I can reach the iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, but it will not open on my PC running Windows 7.  Message shows that iTunes has stopped working.  This happens every time.  I have updated iTunes Software.  Will not solve the problem.  What is wrong

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded.  When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:
              iTunes has stopped working.
The following items give me a choice, but no answer comes up.  The computer will shut down the website.
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
              "Close the program."
There is an item below the box that is selectable for View problem details.  When clicked a long list of items show up.  I have listed some of the problems as written, but I do not understand them.  I know the iTunes Store has been available on earlier versions of of iTunes but is not on this version.  How can we go back and download an earlier version of iTunes?
Here are some of the Problem Details:
         "Problem signature:  APPCRASH
         Application Name:     iTunes.exe
         Application Version:  11.0.1.12
         Application Timestamp:  50c8fc7e"

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.

  • Can't get itunes.  I get the following message when I click on either the shortcut or the program.  It says ITunes has stopped working and I can either check on line for a solution and close the program or just close the program.

When I click on the itunes shortcut or the program  I get the following message:
ITunes has stopped working.  My two options are:  Windows can check on line for a solution to the problem or close the program.
It seems that my entire library is not there.  If I sync my ipod will it add it back into my library on the computer?
I've even tried installing again and nothing works.  Tried the "repair" and it says that ITunes is loaded but I stil get the above error when I try to open the program.
    Thanks
