Itunes has stopped working error I have uninstalled and reinstalled now what
Itunes has stopped working error. I have unistalled and reinstalled and this is the first error ever with my ipod/itunes. How can I fix it?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

My laptop is Windows Vista.
Having the same problem - am running Win 7 Pro 32 bit. Discovered that when you close iTunes task manager shows that iTunes.exe is still running and will not close unless you reboot. I have also found that after starting Win 7 that if I launch iTunes by inserting a CD, the CD plays and displays all tracks correctly. However, if I eject the CD and insert a different one neither Win 7 or iTunes recognises the CD. These problems seem to have started with the release of 10.5.2 - prior to that no problems at all. Have tried reinstalling and it does not make any difference.

Please HELP, "iTunes has stopped working" error after connecting iPod video
People please help me out! I have a Razer Blade gaming laptop with Windows 8 64bit.
I have an iPhone 5, iPad 2 and an iPod video (80GB). I had some weeks from not connecting the iPod to my computer, but this morning that I did so I can upload some new music to it, iTunes just crash, I get the "iTunes has stopped working" error message when I connect the iPod video. I do not have this problem with either the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2, when I connect these, iTunes works fine, once I connect the iPod, then all goes down
Procedures that I already tried and that were unsuccessful to solve the problem:
Uninstall Quicktime
Uninstall iTunes and reinstall
Reset the iPod (several times)
Delete TEMP files on computer
Restart the computer (several times)
Use a different cable and a different USB port
The iPod is working fine, if I plug it to my car stereo or if I use it with headphones it works great, no problems nor errors. My computer also identify the iPod as a hard disk, no error messages from Windows, it is just the freakin' iTunes that freezes everytime that I plug the iPod
PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I've searched forums on this particular issue but with no luck.
Thanks very much!It is only when I attempt to add a song to my iPod once plugged in that I receive the error "Itunes has stopped working" and forces me to exit the program, without the song being successfully transferred.
Do you have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" preference enabled for syncing to the iPod, laur?
If so, it's quite plausible that you've got the iTunes 10.1.0.54 bug and we need to get you updated to 10.0.1.56 as per the following document:
[iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3591] -
Can't install iTunes 11 on Widows 8, 'iTunes has stopped working' error message
Two months ago, I bought a new computer that uses Windows 8. I was running iTunes 10.6 on it fine until today, when it crashed for some unknown reason. Every time I've tried to open it again, I kept on getting a 'iTunes has stopped working' message. I've uninstalled 10.6 and tried installing iTunes 11, but keep getting the same 'iTunes has stopped working' error message with no other details. I've tried installing it as an administrator, but got same failed results.
Any help?
Thanks, MikeSame problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS. I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer. iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups. It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me". Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do? Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

ITunes Has Stopped Working Error
Can anybody help with that good ol’ staple “iTunes has stopped working” error?
From event viewer: Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 11.2.2.3, time stamp 0x5383f31a, faulting module CoreFoundation.dll, version 1.750.24.0, time stamp 0x52a28a28, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000a9908, process id 0xdb0, application start time 0x01cf898260ec3b90.
Tried uninstall and reinstall of both iTunes and Quicktime, also reinstalled as admin for each
Tried with both 32-bit and 64-bit iTunes
Tried removing the files from C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes and C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
Tried copying the .dll files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Opened iTunes in safe mode. It was fine until I tried to view my Match tab, or update iTunes Match, then gave same crash (the error log is actually from safe mode).
It usually won’t crash until I try to view my Match tab or update iTunes Match. Also after I removed the files from the local preferences, I apparently wiped out the library file in the process, because now the only files showing in my library are the maybe 50 or so I’ve purchased through iTunes since I installed to this machine, and not the 10,000+ I’d had in the library before, and that are all uploaded to my iTunes Match, which are all on a local hard drive.
Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit, up to date on Windows updates.I've had this problem for months and tried the same "solutions" as drummerboydyl but also none worked.
I did as MusicaBella instructed, except all I changed was the name for #3, i couldn't find #2 to changed, and voila, it worked!
Thanks so much MusicaBella! -
After downloading the newest version, 10.6.1, whenever I open itunes I almost immediately get a "itunes has stopped working" error messsage, in which the only option is to hit the "close the program" button. Simply closing the error message closes the program as well. I am operated under windows XP with the latest updates (or so the updater tells me). It seems like its getting stuck trying to send me a new user agreement because dont you have to agree to one for every new update? It just can't seem to get past that point. I tried opening it up in safe mode but that didnt work either. Any help would be greatly appeciated.
Looks like itunes was still trying to communicate with my iphone and got confused when it couldnt find it. Found this in another post and it worked great.
Solution:
Make sure you are not connected to the internet and then open itunes. Sync your phone and then enable the internet again. Then stay connected to the internet and close your itunes and reopen it. Bam problem solved.

Keep getting "itunes has stopped working" error.
Keep getting "itunes has stopped working" error. Just updated to windows 8.1, updated java (i installed java on windows 8 for work), & ran the solve a problem with itunes fix from my pc. Still crashes when i go to itunes store or try to sync my ipod. Itunes says their is no solution, my pc can't find a solution, and I've tried several fixes online (copying the .dll file, running in safe mode, running as administrator, reinstalling itunes) nothing is working for me.
Hey Cassblue21,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far. While you may have already attempted most of the steps outlined in this article, I wished to provide it to you just in case you missed something. The article includes great isolation steps to determine if the issue is user-specific, or system-wide. Once you have isolated the issue, a few solutions are offered:

Cant get itunes to open after update. have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times
Cannot get itunes to open after updating. Have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times asper itunes instructions.
Okay. That's got the most common (current) possibility ruled out.
There's a lot of stuff that might be on the table still, though.
In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

Does anyone have a fix for "iTunes has stopped working" error, using Vista?
When I try to start up iTunes I get an error message "iTunes has stopped working" and I have to close the program. I have performed a complete uninstall of all things Apple and reinstalled iTunes but no joy.
Did you after uninstalling iTunes (and before reinstalling) checked if the following directories where also deleted ?
(These directories store your iTunes and also other Apple Products settings...)
For XP:
Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer
Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple
Documents And Settings\<user>\Application Data\Apple Computer
Documents And Settings\<user>\Application Data\Apple
For Vista:
Users\Public\Apple Computer
Users\Public\Apple
Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer
Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Apple
Note: Deleting these directories also deletes the settings for other Apple Programs
Ps: Always make a backup before deleting. -
ITunes has stopped working error message
I WANT TO LISTEN TO MY MUSIC!!
I have spent all morning looking for solutions to this problem! uninstalled everything to to with Apple, reinstalled it all again and still nothing!!
When are Apple going to pull their finger out!
The Error message appears as soon as I click for a CD to be copied. I updated my iTunes this morning to the most recent version and that is when the problem started.
Can anyone help?, ThankyouThe Error message appears as soon as I click for a CD to be copied. I updated my iTunes this morning to the most recent version and that is when the problem started.
There's a bug with 10.1.0.54, Danni, that is causing "iTunes has stopped working messages" (citing CoreAudioToolbox.dll in the Problem Reports for the error) for some folks when importing CDs with the AAC encoding, adding/converting files to AAC, and in some cases syncing devices (when the convert to 128 kbps AAC option is enabled).
Short of rolling back your iTunes to 10.0.1.22 and your Apple Application Support to 1.3.2 (CoreAudioToolbox.dll is kept in the Apple Application Support program files), there's a few possible workarounds.
(1) Change your importing prefs to use a different encoding (won't help with the device syncing variation though), and/or disable the convert to 128 kbps AAC when syncing option.
(2) Replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a 7.9.3.0 as per:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12576816#12576816
(3) Or, replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a shadow copy of a 7.9.3.0 as per:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12583499
(4) Or, if no known-good copy of 7.9.3.0 is available and your PC doesn't have a shadow copy of the 7.9.3.0, you can replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a 7.9.3.0 by performing some installation gymnastics with the current (11 am 18 Nov NZ time) version of the Safari 5.0.2 installer, as per:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12598386
NB with (4) if you have a 64-bit version of Vista or 7 ... the Apple Application Support program files are instead located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
(2, 3 and 4 do help with the device-syncing variation.) -
ITunes has stopped working error message on opening iTunes. How do I get passed this
