ITunes has stopped working (kernel32.dll)

Hi,
Everytime i try to open iTunes i get an error message: "iTunes has stopped working".
Here's the error log:

Before in "Fault Module Name" it said something like "Stackhash error" but that went away after i properly installed quick time player. I've tried many different things i read online to fix it like: Uninstalling and reinstalling, manually removing my entire library, and creating another user in the control panel then trying to run iTunes with no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Let me know if you need any other information.

  • HT1689 I can reach the iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, but it will not open on my PC running Windows 7.  Message shows that iTunes has stopped working.  This happens every time.  I have updated iTunes Software.  Will not solve the problem.  What is wrong

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded.  When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:
              iTunes has stopped working.
The following items give me a choice, but no answer comes up.  The computer will shut down the website.
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
              "Close the program."
There is an item below the box that is selectable for View problem details.  When clicked a long list of items show up.  I have listed some of the problems as written, but I do not understand them.  I know the iTunes Store has been available on earlier versions of of iTunes but is not on this version.  How can we go back and download an earlier version of iTunes?
Here are some of the Problem Details:
         "Problem signature:  APPCRASH
         Application Name:     iTunes.exe
         Application Version:  11.0.1.12
         Application Timestamp:  50c8fc7e"

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.

  • ITunes has stopped working ...Running Windows 7(64)

I upgraded my home PC Desktop to Windows 7 earlier this year and had no trouble bringing over iTunes from my previous platform (Windows XP).
I recently returned home to the US from a work assignment out of the country and because my iTunes resides on my home PC desktop, I didn't open up iTunes for the past 6 weeks.  During this time Apple released iTunes 10.5. When I returned home, the old version of iTunes was still working. However, when I upgraded to iTunes 10.5, iTunes stopped working. The error message: "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have worked through the following knowlege bulletins (nothing has fixed my problem):
(a)" iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues"
    (b) "iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins"
    (c) "iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio"
    (d) "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows vista or Windows 7"
    (e) "iTunes for Windows: system restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store"
the last bulletin (e), recommended ensuring that my drivers were up-to-date. So I also updated my drivers.
Lastly, I contacted iTunes Store Customer Support (although my problem isn't with the store, it is upgraded iTunes running on windows 7). They told me the issue was "outside (their) expertise" and recommended I look at this discussion board.

    Thanks for listening,

PS - someone recommended uninstalling Apple Quick Time Player.  I don't have Quick Time Player.

I had the same problem. I'm using 64bit Windows7. This solution only partially worked for me. I still couldn't connect to the iTunes store.
The following solution worked for me:
    COPY    QTMovieWin.dll
    FROM    c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\
    INTO     c:\program files (x86)/iTunes

  • ITunes Has Stopped Working (10.3.1)?

So before I downloaded the new iTunes, it kept saying "iTunes has stopped working." when I tried to open it.
After multiple tries, I finally resorted to uninstalling it, and installing the new version.
Still, it says "iTunes has stopped working." I tryed the repair option in the Control Pannel for both iTunes and QuickTime. QuickTime opened up just fine, and works as it should. Again, I opend iTunes, but checked the details, and this is what it's saying -

From other posts, you usually could fix it from reading the Fault Module Name and repairing the name of whatever it was, but I have no idea what to do with this.
To play it on the safe side, I am doing a virus scan, but I have'nt downloaded any thing that would carry anything harmful lately.

    Fault Module Name:          MediaToolbox.dll
    Fault Module Version:          1.0.694.7
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

  • Message "itunes has stopped working". Itunes opens and can read an audio cd but as soon as the "get information" option is selected the message "itunes has stopped working" and the computer freezes or at least slows to a snail's pace.

    Hi,
I have a PC running Windows 7 - 64bit OS. I have had iTunes installed since the beginning of the year on this computer and have not had any trouble with it except actually using iTunes but that is a different issue. The other day I inadvertently downloaded "Tuneup" which I don't want or need. I firstly want to say I have no concrete evidence that Tuneup has led to my problems. It may be coincidental that Tuneup and my problems appeared together.
Tonight when I started iTunes, Tuneup took over a quarter of the screen on the right side. I closed this program. When the list of tracks was ready to be loaded from the CD and I went to" file" - "get info" option the message "iTunes has stopped working" would appear. Closing this message resulted in iTunes shutting down. I should say that before I closed the message the computer had essentially ground to a halt. The other curious thing was the behavour of the mouse pointer on the screen - the only place where it was visible was in the "iTunes has stopped working" box. Moving it out of the message box resulted in it disappearing. It would reappear if it were caused to wander into the message box.
I subsequently removed Tuneup (control panel, programs and features, etc...) iTunes had not improved. I then deleted iTunes, firstly saving the library to a file on the desktop. Then I did a fresh(?) install of ITunes but there seems to be no change. A curious thing was even though I had deleted iTunes through the control panel the library was still there as if I had done nothing. The whole thing is a complete mystery and extremely galling.
If someone has had a similar problem I would really like to know what the fixes were.
    Thanks for "listening".
    Cheers,
    Grant Andrews.

I had a similar problem. I'm using 64bit Windows7. The following solution worked for me:
    COPY    QTMovieWin.dll
    FROM    c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\
    INTO     c:\program files (x86)/iTunes
Also, reinstalling Quicktime has worked for others having this same issue.

Same exact thing with me.  And no help from apple.  Just dropped nearly $600 and cannot get a decent working setup.
Apple's only suggestion was to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime, and re-install... of course (the I.T. Crowd tactic).
The crash happens only on iTunes store access.

  • TS1424 HELLO! whenever i try to access the itunes store from the itunes on my laptop i get this message: ITUNES HAS STOPPED WORKING a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify if a solution is availabl

for a few weeks i have not been able to access the itunes store from the itunes on my laptop. every time i click on it it tells me it cannot access the store...not sure why. and says this: ITUNES HAS STOPPED WORKING a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available.

    Good Luck.
    Anthony
