Itunes Has Stopped Working, Program closes

I have recently just updated my Itunes and it has stopped working. This happened in a previous updated version, but after a reinstall i was able to get it to work. This time it did not work, and I can't seem to find a way to get the program to work now.
The error looks like this...
I open itunes from shortcut on desktop or exe file from program file
I see itunes is opened up, i can see my playlists/songs everything
Before i get a chance to do anything windows pops up with a window and says
"Itunes has stopped working...windows is checking for a solution to the problem...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I can only click on the "close program" button.
I have tried a reinstall twice now, and am lost for ideas on how to fix this. I'm not amazing at troubleshooting problems, so I've posted the error that shows up in my event log. Any help would be appreciated so i can continue to use the itunes store, and update my iphone.

Okay, taken at face value this is suggesting there's a problem with your QuickTime (which makes sense in context, because iTunes requires a properly functioning QuickTime in order to run).
So, let's first try swapping out your existing QuickTime.
Head into your "Uninstall a program" control panel. Uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we'll clear away any leftover QuickTime program files or folders.
Restart your computer.
After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
Open the Program Files folder.
Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on. Open the Windows folder. Open the System32 folder.
Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Restart the PC and download and save a copy of the QuickTime standalone installer to your hard drive (get the one that doesn't mention iTunes):
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Install QuickTime by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file.
Restart again, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch without the error this time?

Go to your computer's System Tray and try ejecting.  If you can't eject, there is an application that is trying to access your iPod.
Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx and download ProcessExplorer.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555665 and follow the instructions under Resolution.
Note that this is a good, general process any time you can't access any file.
In my case an update to RealPlayer installed a program called RecordingManager that was accessing my iPod.

  • Just downloaded itunes. but i cant even open it, it just says,"itunes has stopped working, program will close.."

This is a brand new laptop that I just bought two days ago. I was hoping to have itunes on my own computer finally, so I could sort out my horrible music situation. The installation went perfect. But when I try to open it, before I even get a chance to do anything, a little screen pops up and says,"itunes has stopped working.." then it will change, and become "a problem has caused the program to stop. program will shut down." so what should I do ? I don't even get the chance to plug in my ipod.

  • Can't get itunes.  I get the following message when I click on either the shortcut or the program.  It says ITunes has stopped working and I can either check on line for a solution and close the program or just close the program.

When I click on the itunes shortcut or the program  I get the following message:
ITunes has stopped working.  My two options are:  Windows can check on line for a solution to the problem or close the program.
It seems that my entire library is not there.  If I sync my ipod will it add it back into my library on the computer?
I've even tried installing again and nothing works.  Tried the "repair" and it says that ITunes is loaded but I stil get the above error when I try to open the program.
    Thanks

  • I have iTunes 11.4 and Windows 7. Using iTunes on Windows 7, I get message that iTunes has stopped working and Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available. Same message for last two days. Anyone else getting this?

I have iPad 2, iPhone 5s, both with iOS 7.1.2. I use PC with Windows 7 and hard wire internet service and iTunes to update apple products; no wi-fi. I updated iTunes to v11.4 on 09/11/14. I ran Windows update on 09/10/14. I did not try to open iTunes on my PC until yesterday 09/16/14. I got the message: "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  I got the same message today.  Does anyone know if this is a Windows problem and if a solution is coming or an iTunes problem?  I can get iTunes on iPad and iPhone.  All other programs PC are working correctly.  I use Norton Internet Service on PC.  I ran virus scans and repair/reinstall iTunes yesterday on PC.

  • I can't open Itunes on my laptop. "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causes the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" is the message. what is the problem here?

I can't open my Itunes program in my laptop computer with windows 8. the message is "Itunes has stopped working. A problem causess the program to stop working properly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I reboot  the machine, Uninstall and re install the  Itune program, stilll the same message pops up.

The first thing to try is System Restore to take you back to a point in time when it did work. If that is not successful, create a new user on the computer. log in with that and see if ID will start. This will tell us if the problem is in the system/program or the user account.
If it works in a new user account, see Replace Your Preferences and in addition to replacing the prefs, empty the InDesign Recovery folder that will be in the same location and the InDesign SavedData file.

Same exact thing with me.  And no help from apple.  Just dropped nearly $600 and cannot get a decent working setup.
Apple's only suggestion was to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime, and re-install... of course (the I.T. Crowd tactic).
The crash happens only on iTunes store access.

  • TS1424 HELLO! whenever i try to access the itunes store from the itunes on my laptop i get this message: ITUNES HAS STOPPED WORKING a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify if a solution is availabl

for a few weeks i have not been able to access the itunes store from the itunes on my laptop. every time i click on it it tells me it cannot access the store...not sure why. and says this: ITUNES HAS STOPPED WORKING a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available.

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.
    Anthony

  • When I try to open iTunes,it tries to start but than I get a message stating-iTunes has stopped working , close the program. Does anyone have a problem like this? I'm using windows 7 compatibility turned off.

I'm using a Dell PC with windows 7. Apple Store cannot open completely. An error message states- iTunes has stopped working, close the program.
I have spoken to at least 3 Techs with no solutions found for this problem. Compatibility mode turned off. Newest Download from Apple site.

See HT203206: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
