ITunes has stopped working (trying to sync)

I posted this the other day on the iphone 3gs but now that i have the 4 and still same problems, here is my issue.
So i updated iTunes to the latest and updated my 3gs to iOS4, i tried to sync some music and all i get is crash after crash.
I have tried:
1) Uninstalling iTunes and all apple software, reboot, reinstall, reboot.
2) Replacing the 2 .dll's (libeay32.dll, and ssleay32.dll) in the c:\windows\system32 and the syswow64 folder, the dll's did not exist to begin with.
3) Rebooted several times.
4) Checked to make sure i have no podcasts to sync.
5) Called apple support through my appcare overpriced plan.
6) DeAuthorized and Authorized under iTunes>store.
7) Enabled and disabled Genius .
8) Only synced 1 music folder, then 3 successfully then a few more and it then crashes so that's why i think it has something to do with the music. Almost as if it takes a while to complete a sync it kills iTunes.
9) Tried a different USB Cable.
10) Tried a different powered USB hub and directly hoooking it to my computer.
11) Syncing without music (which works) then re-enabling sync of music and it crashes again.

4 GB Ram

Do you have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" preference enabled for syncing to the iPod, laur?
If so, it's quite plausible that you've got the iTunes 10.1.0.54 bug and we need to get you updated to 10.0.1.56 as per the following document:

'iTunes has stopped working' during music sync!

Hi,
I've had this issue for months now, and it occurs with both my iPod nano and my iPhone. The sync goes fine, until it comes to copying new tracks over, then it crashes! Does anyone have any ideas? I haven't been able to sync my devices for months now. It seems to have occurred after the update to iTunes 10.

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS. I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer. iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups. It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me". Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do? Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

When i sync my phone it goes through all the photo's then a window pops up which says that itunes has stopped working and the closes itunes down, i have tried syncing a few times and it just keeps doing the same but says windows MAY send a solution, help

I just received a refurbished replacement iphone and now while syncing I get "itunes has stopped working"...help???

I just received a refurbished iphone the the insurance provided by a major electronics retailer. Since i have tried to sync it to iTunes I have received "iTunes has stopped working" error. It says it will come back with possible solutions, but never does a thing. I have already removed and again installed iTunes, QuickTime, etc. to no success. Not sure what my next step should be.

This helped overcome the crash problem, but (as reported before), I still have to start iTunes in Safe Mode in order to watch any videos. This has been the case since 10.5.
The regular mode behavior has changed a bit - instead of the progress bar moving to the end of the video, showing no video but playing the audio for about three seconds, it now leaves the progress bar where it is ... but the rest of the behavior hasn't changed.
Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on an HP dv8t quad-core laptop w/ 8 GB RAM, running nVidia GeForce 230M with 1 GB video RAM.
Thanks for your prompt response to the original problem posted above. At least now I'm back where I started from before I upgraded to 10.7. Not optimal, but I've finally gotten used to doing a Ctrl-Shift-click to run iTunes.

I am at my wits ends. I have spent 3 days trying to solve this, without any success. I have really time better off than sorting stupid software problems. (Someone had a great rant, so I won't rehearse it - but it seems to me that
if there is an issues, it should at least give some clear of what the software stops!!). It seems to me that no one (NO ONE) is owning this problem There are plenty of people who have the problem, and although some suggestions, it looks to me that
there are just that - suggestions.
I have posted my problem on the Apple forum. I have not heard. But it seems to me that we (I) don't even know if it is an iTunes or a Windows problem. and now I have no idea which way to go....
Rant two ends. The problem:
I have windows 7 SP 1. iTunes 12.0.1.26. I can imports CDs and play music. But when attempting to sync,"iTunes has stopped working". It stops (usually) step 6. No doubt many of people have seen the issue. I problem have
not attempting to update since updating iTunes 12. (On the side, I have not been able to update iTunes without deleting and reinstalling it for some. Accordingly, I update with some concern, and only updated to 12 because I installed a new (different
laptop), and wanted to keep the same levels.
The steps I tried
Sync iPad Air (iOS 8.1). Failed.
Tried to sync iPhone 5S. It stopped. I then looked through the apps etc in the phone. I noticed, that my photos were not being synced (I had an issue with memory issue some months ago - now sorted - and so checked resynced them.
Tried again, and worked. Hmmm. (iPhone is at iOS 8.1)
Made changes with the apps etc on the iPad to recreate the same good result. No success.
I deleted iTunes etc (in the correct order) and reinstalled. No success. tried a number of times. (one of the definitions stupid is to try the same steps expecting a different result)
Searched google, apple and microsoft pages. Read them all. No one seems to have a clear answer to the problem, let alone the solution.
Backed up iPad, and restored iPad. No success - and now, of course the thing is now in a totally uncertain state. It won't ask for sync, but if iTunes starts, the iPad carries on.
Deleted and reinstalled iTunes etc. No success. Tried again (and again? - I have lost track)
Someone suggested going back to iTunes 11.4. Tried that (once sorted out the library files have been changed). Now, same result. (it all worked happily previously)
Tried a hard reset on the iPad. No luck
Discovered one post suggest that QuickTime may be a problem. Deleted iTunes and Quick Time. Reinstalled iTunes. No success.
Discovered turingtest's post "Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows" . Followed the steps, including deleting the folders (only Program Files (x86)/common files/apple were there) and turned off AVG. Same bad result.
Status:
I am thoroughly out of sorts. And it is Tax time, which will not improve my temper.
iTunes 12.0.1.26 installed. iCloud installed
windows 7 SP1. The PC is not asking for any updates.
Qucktime not installed
iOS 8.1.2
iPad is probably useless, until problem solved - not all photos or apps downloaded

Try Googling "sync without iTunes".
There are free alternatives and there are not so free alternatives.
Btw, to check if AVG is causing the problem, you should uninstall AVG and not just "turn it off".
Also, can you describe how you go about uninstalling a program? For example, how did you "delete" iTunes?

Everytime i try to go to the apps part of itunes to sync my phone it says itunes has stopped working. how do i fix this?

When I contacted apple they told me to uninstall an reinstall iTunes on the computer. That worked for allowing me to look at things but didn't solve getting back my stuff that just seems to b gone. :(

Itunes stops working trying to sync iphone 4

itunes stops working when I try and sync my ipone 4. message says itunes has stopped working and program will close. Unlike other threads I dont even get to a position where I get to 'unclick' photos and videos. I tried uninstalling and re installing itunes with no luck. Im using windows 7. have only had this problem since the new itunes download.

since upgrading to 10.1, i cannot select podcasts from the device sync page w/o itunes crashing with the message "itunes has stopped working"

i saw that the ati video driver is the cause of crashing when accessing the store, but i haven't seen this problem reported here. i have a nano 3rd gen & touch 3rd gen & this happens with both.
could anyone please help me?

I've seen similar symptoms produced in the past when a podcast file is damaged, but it's much rarer to see that cause of trouble nowadays.

Itunes has stopped working message whenever I sync photos to my iphone

I am using itunes 10.4.1.10 (the latest) and an iPhone (4.2.10) on windows 7. I have always used itunes to sync photos to my iphone and it was working great. For the last month or so itunes stops working when it gets to the photo optimization and sync. I recieve a message that itunes has stopped working. I have deleted the ipod photo cashe folder several times with no effect. The phone syncs fine if I do not select any photos. I have tried different photo folders and the same thing happens. It seems to be volume related but it worked perfectly in the past. Please help! I love having my photos on my phone.

ITunes has stopped working while sync photos

I have been having problems since I updated iTunes to 10.4, it keeps crashing (itunes has stopped working) while sync photos. After uninstalling and re-installing the problem still stayed. I therefore tried sync photos a batch at a time (15 photos at a time) IT WORKED but I still cannot sync my videos. I think that the problem is that this new version of itunes cannot cope with big files and therefore it crashes. I HOPE THAT APPLE WILL SORT OUT THIS PROBLEM

downgrade to itunes 10.3 as 10.4 broke this feature. if not, just unclick the include videos box and your sync should complete. here's hoping apple fixes this in itunes 10.5.
