"iTunes has stopped working" version 10.2.2 windows 7
I'm at my wit's end on this. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and following a lot of the advice of b noir (paging b noir!) on this forum, but nothing seems to work.
The crash info is below:
Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 10.2.2.14, time stamp: 0x4db7cd2f
Faulting module name: VideoToolbox.dll, version: 1.0.694.3, time stamp: 0x4d87d0bf
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0003379b
Faulting process id: 0xda8
Faulting application start time: 0x01cc1bcc0e44698b
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\VideoToolbox.dll
Report Id: 583440a4-87bf-11e0-9f26-da932bb6f649
Clearly it's something related to VideoToolbox.dll, but when trying to uninstall/reinstall Apple Application Support with iTunes, I can't remedy the problem. iTunes continues to stop after less than 30 seconds every time it's opened.
Please help!
Thanks in advance. Thanks for the response, b!
Sorry, I should have included all that. I'm running a Dell Vostro 1220 notebook. In addition to un/reinstalling itunes (and everything else Apple), I upgraded (or at least verified) the video, DVD, and audio drivers to make sure they were up to date with Dell's support site (though I admit I didn't look at the video card manufacturer's website).

As an update: I did have some success creating a new iTunes library, and I haven't had trouble since doing that. I don't trust that this is a permanent solution, however, and it doesn't help me understand what was wrong with the old library/setup.
Any help or suggestions you can give will be much appreciated!
All the best,

I have a new laptop with Windows 8 as operating system. Installed latest version of iTunes ontop computer. I can play music in My Library but when I click on iTunes, I get the message " iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available."
Anyone know what is the cause and if there is a resolution? Have tried to re-installing iTunes and have also tried restoring laptop to an earlier date.iPad not appearing in iTunes

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

After upgrading to version 11.0.4.4 I get a "Itunes has stopped working" message when I try to start a movie on my PC. I have updated Quick time and previous version of Itunes worked great.
One thing is for sure, and that is if the only page i visit is the Google homepage (not logged in) or this site (mozilla forum), the problem does not occur, ever. I can't make it happen.
If i visit yahoo.com (not logged in) (or ighome.com, logged in), as examples, it happens every time. -

After installing version 11.3.1, saying itunes has stopped working
Accepted update to version 11.3.1 this week and now can't get iTunes to work. It starts up, shows the interface and then promptly a message saying iTunes has stopped working is displayed by Windows X64 and it tries to search for a solution to the problem which it can't find. The iTunes was working fine until after this version 11.3.1. I've removed all Apple applications installed (bonjour, mobile support, Qtime, iTunes) and re-installed, but same problem. The iTunes application is broke for me and no resolution I've found on any forums has helped. It's permanently broken.
Hi Figaro56,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue where iTunes isn't responding or is quitting unexpectedly. The article linked below provides a lot of great troubleshooting tips that help you isolate and resolve the issue.

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded. When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:
iTunes has stopped working.
The following items give me a choice, but no answer comes up. The computer will shut down the website.
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
"Close the program."
There is an item below the box that is selectable for View problem details. When clicked a long list of items show up. I have listed some of the problems as written, but I do not understand them. I know the iTunes Store has been available on earlier versions of of iTunes but is not on this version. How can we go back and download an earlier version of iTunes?
Here are some of the Problem Details:
"Problem signature: APPCRASH
Application Name: iTunes.exe
Application Version: 11.0.1.12
Application Timestamp: 50c8fc7e"I had this exact same problem. I found this fix and it worked for me.
Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you. I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
Good Luck.

ITunes has stopped working ...Running Windows 7(64)
I upgraded my home PC Desktop to Windows 7 earlier this year and had no trouble bringing over iTunes from my previous platform (Windows XP).
I recently returned home to the US from a work assignment out of the country and because my iTunes resides on my home PC desktop, I didn't open up iTunes for the past 6 weeks. During this time Apple released iTunes 10.5. When I returned home, the old version of iTunes was still working. However, when I upgraded to iTunes 10.5, iTunes stopped working. The error message: "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have worked through the following knowlege bulletins (nothing has fixed my problem):
(a)" iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues"
(b) "iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins"
(c) "iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio"
(d) "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows vista or Windows 7"
(e) "iTunes for Windows: system restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store"
the last bulletin (e), recommended ensuring that my drivers were up-to-date. So I also updated my drivers.
Lastly, I contacted iTunes Store Customer Support (although my problem isn't with the store, it is upgraded iTunes running on windows 7). They told me the issue was "outside (their) expertise" and recommended I look at this discussion board.
Here is the information I found under Event Viewer:

It seems that I am not alone in having this problem! Are there any experts out there who want to earn the undying gratitude of the technically challenged (or a few expert points?)
Thanks for listening,

PS - someone recommended uninstalling Apple Quick Time Player. I don't have Quick Time Player.I had the same problem. I'm using 64bit Windows7. This solution only partially worked for me. I still couldn't connect to the iTunes store.
The following solution worked for me:
COPY QTMovieWin.dll
FROM c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\
INTO c:\program files (x86)/iTunes -
Every time I try to import a CD I get "iTunes has stopped working"
I updated to the new 9.0.3.15 version of ITunes a couple of weeks back and ever since I have not been able to import CD's?
It seems it works with every else syncing etc but not importing CD's.
Every time I try to import a CD it will start then within a few seconds I get the message "iTunes has stopped working" and another message saying Windows is looking for a solution.
I have tried going into Control Panel and Programs and repairing the installation but no luck.
Anyone know how I can fix this.I can see messages for other programs that have had issues but nothing for iTunes.
Hmmmm.
Maybe try provoking the error another two or three times, taking a careful note of the time showing on the PC. Now head back into the Action Center. Is there a problem report for any application or operating system component that appears regularly at the same time as the iTunes errors?
If so, paste a copy of a typical error report for that in a reply. (Fingers crossed that might get us a bit closer to understanding what is afoot.) -
ITunes has stopped working and has to close message on Win 7
When I plug my phone into the computer iTunes starts to open and then I get an error message that states iTunes has stopped working and has to close. This seems to only happen while at work and not at home
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
