Itunes has stopped working - Vista
For the last couple of months I keep getting a message on my laptop running vista saying that "iTunes has stopped working". If I reinstall it, the program works but then after restarting a couple of times, the message comes back. The same thing happens with Quicktime also.
iTunes used to work perfectly before. I don't know what prompted it to stop working like this.
PLEASE HELP!!! I'm tired of having to uninstall and reinstall iTunes everyday.
nathansgurl:
That's an odd one. If I had to guess, I would say that a virus is corrupting iTunes, requiring the reinstall. I'd like to take a look at your crash in more detail. Can you the Bucket ID for the crash? Go to Control Panels > Problem Reports and Solutions, click View Problem History, find one of the iTunes crashes and double-click on it. At the bottom, you should see a Bucket ID. What's that number? If you want, you can email it to me at <[email protected]>. Please include a link to this Discussions thread in your email.
If you haven't already, you should definitely fully update your anti-virus software and definition files and run a deep scan.

Itunes has stopped working vista ultimate
Hi All,
I am using Vista ultimate 32bit fully updated and have itunes 7.6 installed.
Each time I open itunes an error appears saying itunes has stopped working.
Itunes 7.5 was like this but occasionally did open, however 7.6 just refuses to open at all, and after buying my nephew a 160 gig classic today for his birthday he is more than a little upset with this and would be grateful for any help solving this issue.
Apple updater software used to crash, however, since downloading itunes 7.6 that has just ran for the first time ever with no problems.
Please could someone point me to a solution to this very frustating problem. I have looked online for a uk support phonehumber for apple and can't find one, and after spending £500 on ipods in the last two weeks am a little upset wth this.I'm running Vista Home. After I upgraded to 7.0.29, I purchased 2 songs. 1-downloaded, the other did not. It does not show in purchased. But I have a receipt. So, I contacted them via eMail.
First, the reply said that they put it in my account. So, when I went to my account, it wasn't there. I wrote them back.
Second recply was that they didn't verify that it made it into my account and assured me it was not there.
Since then, when i try to signin to my account, it says, "access iTunes Store..." AND THAT IS IT. I have uninstalled the software. I have wiped out the folders. I have removed the registry keys. I have re-installed the software and I get THE SAME RESULT - "Accessing iTunes Store" and that is it.
I have tried contacting them again and again as this is now day #3 and I am getting NO replies. I have tried to find a number to call then and they don't have support any other way except eMail. My requests for help are falling on deaf ears AND THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS AND KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY. I'm sorry I ever purchased this iPod. -

"Itunes has stopped working" in Windows Vista 64bit
I am at my wits end! My I tunes will usually load but if it opens in my library and I try to access the Itunes store it always crashes with the "Itunes Has Stopped Working" error message. "Windows is checking for a solution" follows but nothing is ever found.
I've tried completely removing Itunes and reinstalling. I've tried updating all drivers including the one for my ATI video card. I've scanned for viruses and maleware. I even downgraded from Itunes 10 to Itunes 9 which seemed to work for about a day.
I've also done the sfc /scannow which showed some file issues but none that looked to be a problem. One thing....my Gateway PC came preloaded with Windows Vista and I do not have an installation disk.
When I check the details on the crash this is the info that I get:
I've tried just about everything I could find I still keep having this problem. Usually Itunes will start but if I click on a song in my library or try to go to the Itunes store it will crash. Here is the info I get about the crash:

Does anybody have any ideas or hints? Would upgrading to Windows 7 potentially fix this problem?
HELP!!!!!If we're talking about the (third-party, not-produced-by-AMD) ATI Tray Tools utility, the drivers for the utility are a bit scruffy. They've caused some trouble for the QuickTime Player since before the itunes versions 10.x came out, but after a while the issues started to ramify through to iTunes as well as QuickTime. The precise nature of the symptoms seems to depend on which combination of iTunes/QuickTime versions and ATI Tray Tool versions you've got, too.
On a 64-bit system, it's probably worth trying first adding iTunes.exe to the Auto 2d/3d and osd exception list. But just recently someone got past this sort of thing by disabling "Show FPS" on a 32-bit system:

ITunes has Stopped Working in Vista
Browsing this forum, I see quite a few people are having trouble with the newest version of iTunes.
Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 7.5 a few weeks ago on my 32-bit Vista Ultimate, the program will no longer run. When I try to start iTunes, I get a message saying "iTunes has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem." Also, whenever I start up Windows, I get a similar message saying "iTunesHelper Module has stopped working."
When I tell Windows to check online for a solution, it just gives me a page telling me there's a newer version of iTunes, but it is the newest version that I'm trying to run.
Any thoughts? This solution has worked on one of my 4 computers so I can't guarantee but it might be worth a try.
Uninstall Itunes and Quicktime. Reboot your computer
Empty out the recycle bin
Use Search to locate any and all files and folders that reference itunes or quick time. Of course do not touch your music folder.
Delete all these references to itunes and quick time.
Reboot.
Download a standalone version of Quick time and install.
Download Itunes (I used version 7.4.1 that I obtained from Oldapps.com.)
Once this was done I was able to run itunes on my laptop. I did upgrade to 7.5 but I could not get my sons nano 8GB to sync so I reverted back to 7.4.1 and it works just fine.
I have yet to get itunes working on My wifes vista laptop and it quit working on my XP desktop some time ago (I have never used it and wouldn't care except my son just bought the nano) Itunes a version prior to 7.4 was running on my sons laptop until he upgrade to 7.5 when he bought the nano, just last Friday, and 7.5 totally borked things up. Aside note is that his hard drive crashed a day later, but I don't think that had anything to do with it.
If you read through this board you will find that itunes and windows are not getting along well at all. If you have a "new" ipod be it nano, classic or what ever I beleive you must use version 7.4 or newer. It seems to me that if Apple really wants floks to buy these things they should be sure the primary piece of software is stable and works! -

My system information listed below:
Manufacture: Dell
Model: Inspiron I1420
Processor: Inter(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7100 @1.80GHz 1.80GHz
Memory(RAM): 2038 MB

Any suggestions or solutions are much appreciated!Have you had a look at these pages? They may be of some help:

ITunes has stopped Working when using Ipod shuffle 3gen on Windows Vista HB
Itunes keeps shutting down when I insert my Ipod shuffle into the usb connection of my latop. I am using a Windows Vista Home Basic for an OS.
Not sure if this is a Vista, Apple issue, or something else...
I have contacted apple about this and uninstaled/reinstalled Itunes. Yet after all this, I get the same error message. The message reads:
"iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
As far as I know Vista should be compatible with iTunes and it is until I actually try to use my shuffle (newest model). Its weird because my shuffle works fine on a second computer that has Windows XP for an OS...
Does anyone have a solution to this??
Thanks in advance!i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)

64 Bit Vista Error Message: Itunes has stopped Working
I installed Itunes on my 64 bit Vista OS and it was working fine for about 3 weeks. Now I get an error message when I try to start Itunes now: "Itunes has stopped working"
I searched for a solution on here but it looks like Itunes doesn't support the 64 bit OS I have installed on my computer. I really hope they fix this. I've had my Ipod and Itunes for 2 years now. It's been a pleasure to own and I've bought many Songs from Itunes store. But, if I can't get it to work on my computer I may have to try to sell it for something that will work.
Thanks, HairyHello, Sofa_King_Gary.

I see that you are experiencing issues with iTunes closing unexpectedly and you have attempted some troubleshooting steps already. There are just a couple more steps that I could recommend in the article below.

Does anyone have a fix for "iTunes has stopped working" error, using Vista?
When I try to start up iTunes I get an error message "iTunes has stopped working" and I have to close the program. I have performed a complete uninstall of all things Apple and reinstalled iTunes but no joy.
Did you after uninstalling iTunes (and before reinstalling) checked if the following directories where also deleted ?
(These directories store your iTunes and also other Apple Products settings...)
For XP:
Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer
Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple
Documents And Settings\<user>\Application Data\Apple Computer
Documents And Settings\<user>\Application Data\Apple
For Vista:
Users\Public\Apple Computer
Users\Public\Apple
Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer
Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Apple
Note: Deleting these directories also deletes the settings for other Apple Programs
Ps: Always make a backup before deleting. -
"iTunes has stopped working" error in Vista
Hey all,
This question is for my cousin. He has iTunes installed on Vista. It has been working before. It came up with this error, seen on www.ashrat.id.au/itunes.jpg
He has uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it several times. He also downloaded and installed the latest version of 8.0.1, of course rebooting the computer after installation.
Nothing odd seems to have happened beforehand to cause this. However, does anyone have any suggestions to fix the problem? This error comes up nearly right away when launching iTunes and the main interface doesn't show.
Thanks in advance for any help.Same problem here with Vista Ultimate Edition and ITunes 8.0.1.11. I get the "ITunes has stopped working" generic Vista error msg. Quicktime v755.90.70 also gives the same generic message. I've done the "slash and burn" uninstall method for both Itunes & QuickTime as outlined in the support section (remove both apps, remote QT add-ins in \Windows\system32, run the MSI installer cleaner from MS) reboot, re-install and still no luck.
I've also disabled DEP system-wide (since Itunes cannot be configured to run without DEP), I've run Itunes as "administrator", and even tried running it in Vista Safe Mode but still am still not able to run either application.
A bit deeper analysis into the Eventlog / Application log reveals the following:
"Faulting application QuickTimePlayer.exe, version 7.55.90.70, time stamp 0x48ba1f5c, faulting module QuickTimePlayer.exe, version 7.55.90.70, time stamp 0x48ba1f5c, exception code 0xc0000409, fault offset 0x0000130d, process id 0x1ba4, application start time 0x01c94752a45e7550."
and for Itunes....
"Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 8.0.1.11, time stamp 0x48e41bb0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x646f4320, process id 0x1a88, application start time 0x01c9475198965590."
I'm really stuck at this point with no real way to get Itunes to work. I'd really, really prefer not to reload Vista. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. -
Windows vista tells me iTunes has stopped working when I try to sync iPod
I recently downloaded the newest version of iTunes (8.0.2.20), thanks to its incessantly asking me to. Since I downloaded, every time I attempt to sync to my iPod classic, Windows tells me iTunes has stopped working and forces me to close the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure if it's taboo on these boards or not, but this is just a friendly "bump" to see if it might catch the eye of someone who has discovered a fix for this behavior.
I did discover a couple of suggestions in my research, neither of which proved helpful to me. The first was to disable the sync function for contacts with Outlook (no joy). The second was to delete the Sync Services folder (which I "temporarily" deleted, but still no joy).
I have found resources that purport to provide sync control over your iPod without using iTunes. They look to be about a $40 gamble, but I may have to try that route (but would really hope that one of the smart people here would have ideas beyond Apple's "elementary "R's"").

"iTunes has stopped working" blue Vista error screen.
have had iTunes for years, recently tried to open it and was told that iTunes has stopped working despite not having been open.
i've tried:
searching online for a problem,
sending the info to windows,
uninstalling and then reinstalling it,
"repairing" iTunes via the add/remove program box in the control panel,
opening a mp3 file into iTunes from window's explorer,
clicking shift while opening iTunes,
installing iTunes onto a USB stick and then opening that one,
and every time it simply says "iTunes has stopped working".
this is the problem details if anyone can decifer a way to fix it from these:
