ITunes has stopped working when connecting new iPhone 6

I am getting what seems to be a common error "iTunes has stopped working" which I have tried many different tricks for fixing that I have found online, but nothing seems to work.
I have been using an iPhone 5 and backing up and syncing with no problems, the only problem being when I try to access the iTunes Store. This didn't bother me too much as I can access the store on my phone and everything else on iTunes worked fine.
But today I bought an iPhone 6 and as soon as I connect it (whether iTunes is already open or opens when I plug the iPhone in) I get the above error message and iTunes closes. So I am unable to sync my back up on to the new phone or use it at all.
Can anyone help with a recent fix for this, or a way around it?
I have tried copying recommended files into the correct folder, re-installing, opening as administrator and many other things I have come across online, but majority of these seem to be from a year or more ago. I am using Windows 7 on a PC, with the latest iTunes that I have just re-installed (again).
Any help would be really appreciated!

Same here....also when I restart iTunes afterward, all my devices don't even show up in iTunes at all until after you restart the computer
Even then, the problem persists. And I've tried all kinds of troubleshooting techniques

  • ITunes has stopped working when syncing iPad Air.

    Please:  someone help me....
I am at my wits ends.  I have spent 3 days trying to solve this, without any success.  I have really time better off than sorting stupid software problems.   (Someone had a great rant, so I won't rehearse it - but it seems to me that
if there is an issues, it should at least give some clear of what the software stops!!).  It seems to me that no one (NO ONE) is owning this problem  There are plenty of people who have the problem, and although some suggestions, it looks to me that
there are just that - suggestions.
I have posted my problem on the Apple forum.  I have not heard.  But it seems to me that we (I) don't even know if it is an iTunes or a Windows problem.  and now I have no idea which way to go....
    Rant two ends.  The problem:
I have windows 7 SP 1.  iTunes 12.0.1.26.  I can imports CDs and play music.  But when attempting to sync,"iTunes has stopped working". It stops (usually) step 6. No doubt many of people have seen the issue.  I problem have
not attempting to update since updating iTunes 12.  (On the side, I have not been able to update iTunes without deleting and reinstalling it for some.  Accordingly, I update with some concern, and only updated to 12 because I installed a new (different
laptop), and wanted to keep the same levels.
    The steps I tried
Sync iPad Air (iOS 8.1).  Failed.
Tried to sync iPhone 5S.  It stopped.  I then looked through the apps etc in the phone.  I noticed, that my photos were not being synced (I had an issue with memory issue some months ago - now sorted - and so checked resynced them.
Tried again, and worked.  Hmmm.  (iPhone is at iOS 8.1)
Made changes with the apps etc on the iPad to recreate the same good result.  No success.
I deleted iTunes etc (in the correct order) and reinstalled.  No success.  tried a number of times.  (one of the definitions stupid  is to try the same steps expecting a different result)
Searched google, apple and microsoft pages.  Read them all.  No one seems to have a clear answer to the problem, let alone the solution.
Backed up iPad, and restored iPad.  No success - and now, of course the thing is now in a totally uncertain state.  It won't ask for sync, but if iTunes starts, the iPad carries on.
Deleted and reinstalled iTunes etc.  No success.  Tried again (and again? - I have lost track)
Someone suggested going back to iTunes 11.4.  Tried that (once sorted out the library files have been changed).  Now, same result.  (it all worked happily previously)
Tried a hard reset on the iPad.  No luck
Discovered one post suggest that QuickTime may be a problem.  Deleted iTunes and Quick Time.  Reinstalled iTunes.  No success.
Discovered turingtest's post "Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows" .  Followed the steps, including deleting the folders (only Program Files (x86)/common files/apple were there) and turned off AVG.  Same bad result.
    Status:
I am thoroughly out of sorts.  And it is Tax time, which will not improve my temper.
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 installed. iCloud installed
windows 7 SP1.  The PC is not asking for any updates.
    Qucktime not installed
    iOS 8.1.2
iPad is probably useless, until problem solved - not all photos or apps downloaded
    HELP!!
iPad Air, iOS 8.1.2, Windows 7

    Try Googling "sync without iTunes".
There are free alternatives and there are not so free alternatives.
Btw, to check if AVG is causing the problem, you should uninstall AVG and not just "turn it off".
Also, can you describe how you go about uninstalling a program? For example, how did you "delete" iTunes?

  • "itunes has stopped working" - when syncing 4s, itunes stops at step 6.

Since updating to 10.5.1.42 itunes stops at step 6 - determining tracks to sync - when syncing with my 4S. The iphone is running 5.0.1
I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, but it still does it! Windows 7 gives me the 'itunes has stopped working and is searching for a solution' line.
Needless to say; it doesn't find one...

Here is what worked for me for both 10.5 and 10.5.1 after hoursof frustration with Itunes stopping and shutting down in the middle of a syncor tranferring Apps downloaded on my Ipad2 or Iphone 4:
Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:
    1.  hold down the Shift and Control key together and clickto start iTunes.
    2.  when you see the iTunes icon in the task bar, click onit.
    3.  you will get a box that says "iTunes is running insafe mode.  Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarilydisabled."   [I don't know what plug-ins I installed but youshould clearly see that these so-called visual plug-ins are likely the cause ofyour issues];
    4. click Continue to open iTunes.
You could already have your device connected to your computer ordo it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.
Now press your sync button and everything should work fine.
I also disabled Genius in iTunes preferences but I'm not sure ifthis is one of the issues causing these types of problems.
I hope this works.  This may be the workaround for all ofus Windows 7 64-bit folks.

  • ITunes has stopped Working when using Ipod shuffle 3gen on Windows Vista HB

Itunes keeps shutting down when I insert my Ipod shuffle into the usb connection of my latop. I am using a Windows Vista Home Basic for an OS.
Not sure if this is a Vista, Apple issue, or something else...
I have contacted apple about this and uninstaled/reinstalled Itunes. Yet after all this, I get the same error message. The message reads:
"iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
As far as I know Vista should be compatible with iTunes and it is until I actually try to use my shuffle (newest model). Its weird because my shuffle works fine on a second computer that has Windows XP for an OS...
Does anyone have a solution to this??
    Thanks in advance!

i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)

  • "iTunes has stopped working" when trying to download purchase

I have Windows 7. This is the first time I have downloaded on this brand new computer. I authorized this computer for iTunes and bought an album. It shows in my downloads, starts downloading, and when it gets to the end of a song, I get the message "iTunes has stopped working" and choices to close or debug, etc. I have tried this a bunch of times, and each time it says there are less songs to download, but my songs never appear in my music.
    thanks for any help....

Head into your Problem Reports and Solutions control panel (or the Windows 7 equivalent) and open your Problem History. Look for iTunes Problems reports that seemed to occur at the time that you had the Store troubles.
Open the reports and have a look through them. Do they all seem to say the same thing? If so, paste the contents of a typical report into a reply here. (Fingers crossed, that may give us a heads up on the cause of the errors.)

  • "iTunes has stopped working" when attempting to launch

First off, I've tried everything the Apple troubleshooting section has suggested (uninstalling iTunes+Quicktime, clearing temp file, etc), and I've yet to have any success.
This is extremely frustrating, and annoying. I've purchased at least ~$150 of iTunes store material, and I am unable to add/remove media to my multiple iTunes.
Basically, whenever I double-click the iTunes icon, I'll get the busy-cursor, and then Windows announces "iTunes has stopped working" and has no suggestions other then downloading the latest version of iTunes (which hasn't worked).
I've been a big fan of Apple products for years, and this is the first time I've had trouble with either the software, or the hardware.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First my iPod, when plugged into the USB port, my computer kept saying that nothing was there, when i tried to upgrade my iTunes to 7.5 version, it wouldnt let me, my computer kept reading Invalid Drive: F:/, i had to use someone elses computer to make a copy of the 7.5 version on to a disk, then i was able to uploaded and run it to my computer. The second part of this trick, was having to get iTunes and my own computer to recognize that my iPod was in the USB connection, finally once i upgraded to 7.5, as soon as i plugged in my iPod into the computer, iTunes recognized it, i quickly went straight to Restore Ipod, turns out that my iPod had a "BUG" thats why the invalid F drive was showing up, thats why i could not upgrade to 7.5, and how a bug got into my ipod sense everything i have ever downloaded and uploaded has been off of Apple.s website, they assure that their songs are infected free, but i beg to differ since it took 4 years for my iPod (which was a week ago) to actually have a serious problem.

  • Itunes has stopped working when I double-click a song

Well my itunes usually take a while to start up because I've got a lot of music and videos in it, but today it takes no time to start, but when I try to launch a song I get the 'Itunes has stopped working Windows is looking for a solution' message, I repaired it, doesn't work, uninstalled then reinstalled it, doesn't work neither.
It can't play music, videos or open Apple Store, but otherwise it doesn't crash at all, I can create new playlists etc.
And when I right click on a song and choose 'obtain information' I get a blank window with normal buttons like 'OK' or 'Cancel' but nothing else, when I click on a button Itunes crash...
    Please!
    I'm running on Windows 7 64bits
And by the way I made a system clean up yesterday, so it may be caused by this...but how can I undo it :S

    Well it's working fine again.........................................I don't get it - -

  • "iTunes Has Stopped Working" when syncing iPod Touch

So in the last few days, I've been getting an error message when I try to sync my iPod Touch 2g with software version 3.1.2. After a few seconds, I get this error message "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." It only happens when I plug in my iPod for syncing.
I've been up and down the message boards here looking for a solution and I can't seem to find anything that works. I've uninstalled/reinstalled quicktime, then the iTunes software, I've deleted and remade my iTunes library file... I'm just at a loss. Here's the error information windows gathered up...

  • Itunes has stopped working when trying to open store

I have gone through the uninstall/reinstall many times. Redid host file. Flush dns. Have tried many things. I noticed on one conversation on here. To go to the Action Center and click on itunes. It is saying a fault in the webkit.dll. I have no clue what that means or what I need to do to fix the problem.
I did notice that when I uninstalled the last time that when I reinstalled I no longer had Quicktime. So installed that, but still no luck
I have Norton 360 and Windows 7 64 on my laptop. We also have a desktop with the same, but the desktop is able to open the store. I am a tad confused on why mine is not. I can open itunes see the library then when I hit the itunes store it sits for awhile then it comes up with itunes has stopped working. Please if someone could help.

It shows in my downloads, starts downloading, and when it gets to the end of a song, I get the message "iTunes has stopped working" and choices to close or debug, etc.
