"itunes has stopped working" win 8.1 & itunes 11.1.3.8

I've just bought a new laptop with windows 8.1 and installed itunes 11.1.3.8. When I try to open itunes it comes back with error message "itunes has stopped working" and fails to start. Windows can't seem to find a solution to the problem.
We have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. Did not resolve issue.
We have tried this:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from c:\Program Files (x86) Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into
c:\Program Files (x86) \ iTunes
Failed to resolve the problem so we deleted the copy in c:\Program File (x86) \ iTunes
Quick time 7 is installed.
We are stuck, any ideas?

  • Itunes has stopped working (Win 7 64 bit)

I keep getting this when I try to sync my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4.  It gets all the way through the sync to photos and then I get this issue:
    iTunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.
I have run all updates I can think of and rebooted several times.
I have checked QuickTime and all seems fine with it.
I have unchecked the photos and doesn't seem to make a difference.
    Ideas???

  • 'iTunes has stopped working' error message on iTunes startup with vista

Today i downloaded iTunes 7.1, i opened it and all seemed well, i played a few tracks etc.
but, when i plugged my ipod in i was told that iTunes has stopped working,
i tried to open it again, but the same message pops up.
so i restarted the computer, tried again, with and without the ipod in, still no success.
So i re installed itunes. Noting, i even re-dowloaded it, but still nothing.
i can't even open it, let alone sync my ipod.
I am currently running vista premium, and i had ipod problems with 7.0.2, i had to manually manage the iPod, auto sync crashed the computer. How do i fix it?!?

  • "iTunes has stopped working" when going to iTunes store

Opening iTunes works fine, until I click on the "iTunes store" button. The I get the message "iTunes  has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This happened just after upgrading from windows 8 to 8.1
"view account" produces the same error.
Login into account works fine. (menu bar at top left; iTunes store > sign in)
    I'm using iTunes 11.1.2
    C:\Users\username\App Data\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins\ is empty
    Quicktime starts fine.
    Unintstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
Same problem occurs in safemode (ctr shift start up).
I tried deleting the SC Info.sid* files, but problem still occurs.
    Updating genius works fine.
Still occurs when running as administrator
Ran repair from the control panel on both iTunes and quicktime.
Any suggestions on what I can do about this?

I am running Windows 8.1 and iTunes 11.1.3.8.  I found a simple solution by browsing through the support communities.  Here it is:   Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
This worked for me.  Good luck.

  • "itunes has stopped working" - when syncing 4s, itunes stops at step 6.

Since updating to 10.5.1.42 itunes stops at step 6 - determining tracks to sync - when syncing with my 4S. The iphone is running 5.0.1
I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, but it still does it! Windows 7 gives me the 'itunes has stopped working and is searching for a solution' line.
Needless to say; it doesn't find one...

Here is what worked for me for both 10.5 and 10.5.1 after hoursof frustration with Itunes stopping and shutting down in the middle of a syncor tranferring Apps downloaded on my Ipad2 or Iphone 4:
Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:
    1.  hold down the Shift and Control key together and clickto start iTunes.
    2.  when you see the iTunes icon in the task bar, click onit.
    3.  you will get a box that says "iTunes is running insafe mode.  Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarilydisabled."   [I don't know what plug-ins I installed but youshould clearly see that these so-called visual plug-ins are likely the cause ofyour issues];
    4. click Continue to open iTunes.
You could already have your device connected to your computer ordo it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.
Now press your sync button and everything should work fine.
I also disabled Genius in iTunes preferences but I'm not sure ifthis is one of the issues causing these types of problems.
I hope this works.  This may be the workaround for all ofus Windows 7 64-bit folks.

  • I just downloaded itunes. "Itunes has stopped working" when I open itunes and it closes automatically. why?

My itunes only works when I'm not connected to the internet. this is a problem, because I need to use the itunes store. It honestly seems like technology does not work for me.

After I post here and in the app's page it magically works again... Thanks anyway for your time

  • Itunes has stopped working message during download

My apologies if this has been discussed before, I'm new. I have a recurring problem: occassionally during a song download from Itunes the message "Itunes has stopped working" appears. Subsequently iTunes shuts down. Upon reopening the desired song is not listed in the library, though iTunes thinks it is and I'm charged for the purchase. I can report a problem and iTunes will make it available for download. This gets incovenient however, and no suggested fix has yet prevented this from recurring. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions? Thanks?
    WDS

Good. That rules out old QuickTime componentry lurking about in unorthodox locations in your system files.
The next most likely causes of a StackHash result are user-account specific troubles, like damage to library files or preference files in your normal Vista user account.
So try creating a new Vista user account as per the instructions from the following document:
[iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717]
Does iTunes launch without the error message in the new user account?
If so, try steadily working through the suggestions in the *User-specific troubleshooting* section of the document. Do any of those measures get your iTunes launching again in the usual user account?

Hi, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.4 and now I can't get iTunes to run. Windows Vista just tells me that iTunes has stopped working - similar message to a load of people here - and leaves an error log that I accessed via the Control Panel. The fault module is different from other people's, but the outward symptoms are exactly the same: iTunes won't run. I tried 'downgrading' iTunes to an earlier version (thanks www.oldversion.com!) and it ran, but then stopped because (of course) my libraries are all in the newer format so it can't read them. Cheers Apple!
I have tried removing and reinstalling both iTunes and Quicktime several times over, as well as shutting down (and finally deinstalling) IOBit Advanced System Care 4, but to no avail. Just prior to these problems we found that iTunes would run, but would not talk to the iPod - it kept saying that it needed to be reinstalled because part of the package that communicated with the mobile device was missing. (Obviously I tried that, but it failed to work.) I just mention this in case this additional symptom is relevant.
    Just in case b noir reads this (he/she seems to be a bit of whizz at discerning these problems!)  I have included the error log generated by Vista below;
