ITunes has stopped working...with iTouch on Windows 7

When I connect my iTouch to Windows 7 HP Pavilion Slimline to iTunes 9.1 I receive error: "ITunes has stopped working..." and iTunes is no longer accessible. The error code in event viewer is Exception code: 0xc0000005. I do not have a problem with iPod Nano on same Windows 7 PC with iTunes.
I have looked at all the threads and tried everything I could find without success:
1. Uninstall and reinstall device drivers and reconnect iTouch
2. Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
3. Uninstall and reinstall all Apple Software on PC
4. Uninstall and reinstall Norton
5. Disable Bonjour
6. Create new user account with admin rights and try to connect
Anyone go any ideas on how to fix?
thks..

  • ITunes has stopped working ...Running Windows 7(64)

I upgraded my home PC Desktop to Windows 7 earlier this year and had no trouble bringing over iTunes from my previous platform (Windows XP).
I recently returned home to the US from a work assignment out of the country and because my iTunes resides on my home PC desktop, I didn't open up iTunes for the past 6 weeks.  During this time Apple released iTunes 10.5. When I returned home, the old version of iTunes was still working. However, when I upgraded to iTunes 10.5, iTunes stopped working. The error message: "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have worked through the following knowlege bulletins (nothing has fixed my problem):
(a)" iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues"
    (b) "iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins"
    (c) "iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio"
    (d) "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows vista or Windows 7"
    (e) "iTunes for Windows: system restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store"
the last bulletin (e), recommended ensuring that my drivers were up-to-date. So I also updated my drivers.
Lastly, I contacted iTunes Store Customer Support (although my problem isn't with the store, it is upgraded iTunes running on windows 7). They told me the issue was "outside (their) expertise" and recommended I look at this discussion board.

    Thanks for listening,

PS - someone recommended uninstalling Apple Quick Time Player.  I don't have Quick Time Player.

I had the same problem. I'm using 64bit Windows7. This solution only partially worked for me. I still couldn't connect to the iTunes store.
The following solution worked for me:
    COPY    QTMovieWin.dll
    FROM    c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\
    INTO     c:\program files (x86)/iTunes

  • ITunes has stopped working on our computer (Windows Vista)

We have been using itunes successfully up until now when we have tried to create a new account for my son who has just received an ipod nano. We have managed to download some cds into his library but now I can't even access the store to create an account for him so he can buy tunes.  The message in the fuzzy box just says 'accessing itunes' but it is not! I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it.  I read that it could be an idea to install itunes 10.3.1 instead so I did this but then of course it won't give us access to the library because it was created ina newr version of itunes.
I also need to back up the library we have created but don't seem to be able to do this on to a disc. If I could do this, perhaps I could reinstall itunes 10.3.1 and restore the library to that?  Please help - I have been trying to sort this out since Christmas Day and I think I am definitely at the limit of my experience.

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

  • "Itunes has stopped working" in Windows Vista 64bit

I am at my wits end!  My I tunes will usually load but if it opens in my library and I try to access the Itunes store it always crashes with the "Itunes Has Stopped Working" error message.  "Windows is checking for a solution" follows but nothing is ever found.
I've tried completely removing Itunes and reinstalling. I've tried updating all drivers including the one for my ATI video card. I've scanned for viruses and maleware.  I even downgraded from Itunes 10 to Itunes 9 which seemed to work for about a day.
I've also done the sfc /scannow which showed some file issues but none that looked to be a problem.  One thing....my Gateway PC came preloaded with Windows Vista and I do not have an installation disk.
When I check the details on the crash this is the info that I get:
I've tried just about everything I could find I still keep having this problem.  Usually Itunes will start but if I click on a song in my library or try to go to the Itunes store it will crash.  Here is the info I get about the crash:

    HELP!!!!!

If we're talking about the (third-party, not-produced-by-AMD) ATI Tray Tools utility, the drivers for the utility are a bit scruffy. They've caused some trouble for the QuickTime Player since before the itunes versions 10.x came out, but after a while the issues started to ramify through to iTunes as well as QuickTime. The precise nature of the symptoms seems to depend on which combination of iTunes/QuickTime versions and ATI Tray Tool versions you've got, too.
On a 64-bit system, it's probably worth trying first adding iTunes.exe to the Auto 2d/3d and osd exception list. But just recently someone got past this sort of thing by disabling "Show FPS" on a 32-bit system:

  • ITunes has stopped working as I connect to iTunes on Windows 7/64

I have not been successful with iTunes Store.  When connecting, it starts and then stops after a bit with a message "iTunes has stopped working".  I have Windows 7, and latest iTunes.  64 bit.  Turned off security software, no luck.  Deinstalled and the reinstalled ALL Apple software, no luck.  Tried running as Admin, no luck.  Tried running in safe mode, no luck.  Any ideas?

I saw this from another post, and it solved the problem for me (I have Windows 7 64 also).

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the iTunes forum for the operating system your computer is running (Mac OS X or Windows).

Thank you kindly. That suggests a user account specific issue then, although the Stackhash results cover a wide variety of sins. (Roughly speaking, the Stackhash result in the problem reports is Windows way of saying "I don't know what module caused the problem.")
Did iTunes launch in the other user account (even though it was empty in there)?

  • ITunes has stopped working, how do I fix it?

I was just able to connect to iTunes yesterday and now today I tried it and I am getting the following message - iTunes has stopped working
    I am running Windows 7
I have updated and am running the most current version of iTunes
I have restarted my computer and still get this message
    Any help would be appreciated.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • After installing version 11.3.1, saying itunes has stopped working

Accepted update to version 11.3.1 this week and now can't get iTunes to work. It starts up, shows the interface and then promptly a message saying iTunes has stopped working is displayed by Windows X64 and it tries to search for a solution to the problem which it can't find. The iTunes was working fine until after this version 11.3.1. I've removed all Apple applications installed (bonjour, mobile support, Qtime, iTunes) and re-installed, but same problem. The iTunes application is broke for me and no resolution I've found on any forums has helped. It's permanently broken.

    Hi Figaro56,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue where iTunes isn't responding or is quitting unexpectedly. The article linked below provides a lot of great troubleshooting tips that help you isolate and resolve the issue.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.
