ITunes hasn't downloaded an SD version of my 1080p TV show, so I am unable to watch on my MacBook.
I am a UK customer, and last night I purchased Top Gear India Special on my iPad, and I chose to download the 1080p version. I'm just wondering why iTunes hasn't downloaded an SD version as well as the HD version, like it always has done previously? I am unable to watch the India Special on my MacBook as iTunes says "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."
Thanks in advance.

With the introduction of 1080p videos, there has been a change in the HD/SD downloads. "When you purchase an HD video on a supported device or computer, only HD video will be downloaded. To download the SD version, you need to download the video again from your Purchased page. Conversely, if you purchase an HD video on an unsupported device, the SD version will be downloaded. Then, you will need to download the HD version from your Purchased page."
See iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3209
"Some movies may not be available from iTunes in the Cloud. These movies, if purchased in HD, will download both the HD and SD versions for you to sync to your compatible iPod and iOS devices." http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4095

I downloaded the new version of pages about a month ago. Today I tried to open documents that I created and saved with the new version and received a message that I needed to download the new version. The app store shows the download. HUH?!?
I'm not sure what you mean by it making accessing files more complicated. I have both Pages 4.3 & Pages 5.1 icons in my Dock as well as Numbers 2.3 & Numbers 3.1. I continue to use the iWork '09 versions for my everyday needs. As long as the new versions are in your Applications folder & the '09 versions in the iWork '09 folder, Software Update will not have a problem updating them even if Apple should come out with a new update for the '09 versions.
Because I have moved the new versions to an external drive & renamed the apps because I want '09 to be the default apps, I do have to remember to move them back to my applications folder & restore the original names before updating. But since you like the new versions this "complication" doesn't apply to you. -
I just want to know if by purchasing a movie on iTunes, can I download other vertions of the same movie? Like subtitle editions and other language editions or get a lower prize when purchasing the same movie in a higher definition... Etc?
No. To purchase other versions of movies on the iTunes Store you'll have to pay full price for those versions. The content owners control this licensing and pricing to a large extent.

When starting itunes, tries to download a SD version of a TV show I already
Hi everyone. I just got the free 1st Season Pilot for The Office from the itunes store, HD version. Whenever I start up itunes though, it adds the SD version to my purchases, and begins downloading it, even when I already have the HD version. Is there way to get itunes to cease and desist?
EDIT: And it tried to download it once more when I updated my apps.
Message was edited by: TGP1994that sounds like it wouldn't work very nicely for people who only want to use their computer as a media center.
What about those people that only want to use their computer as a media center then later decide to get an iPod?
You can contact the -> iTunes store and ask them to remove it from your download from your queue. -
Can someone plz help
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

After upgrading to Itunes 10.5 and connecting the IPAD. I get a following message. How do I resolve this issue. There is no other way to download itunes to ipad other than the itunes on your computer or laptop. I am a windows xp user.
Dear Mr. Sawyer,
To my surprise, the version is shown as 10.0.1.22. I will uninstall itunes and try loading the same again. After uninstalling do we need to delete any registry entries for Windows XP.
Thanks for your response and concern.

One song from an album I bought with iTunes hasn't downloaded, how can I get to it?
After purchasing and downloading an album, I noticed that one song from the middle of the album seemed not to have finished downloading. It was the same a day later, so I retarted iTunes thinking this would solve the issue. When I tried to play the album, that one song was missing. How can I download it again and hopefully avoid the same issue? Thanks.
Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them. (apparently the UK support group handle the Portuguese iTunes Store).

How do I download the SD version of my HD TV show onto my iPod Touch 1st generation?
I bought and downloaded the Pilot episode of the Vampire Diaries. However, I found out afterwards that it can't be synced because the iPod Touch 1st generation does not support HD videos. But I read that when you buy an HD video it comes with a SD version. I can't figure out how to get that SD version to show up or be synced. I went on the Purchased pages and unselected the HD versions, but it says that the SD versions have already been downloaded to the computer. I can't find them and can't find any selections to change the HD to SD. Please help me!!
Hello maxr0,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I found this article that outlines where to go to download your purchases again in iTunes.
The article named says it is for iTunes 10, but the steps will work for iTunes 11 as well.
In iTunes, click iTunes Store (below Store).
Click the Purchased link in the top-right of the Store home page (below Quick Links).
In the page that appears, select a category.
iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download.
If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re using Album view, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click the Download button to the right of the item.
From: iTunes 10 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1706
Once you get to the page for your Movies or TV Shows, there should be a checkbox that says Download HD When Available. Uncheck that, and then download your purchase and that should get you the SD version of your video.
Take care,

Not unless something really goes wrong. You should always have a backup of your library

How to stop auto download of SD versions of TV shows?
I buy lots of TV shows from the iTunes store and everything I watch on my laptop is in HD. However, iTunes INSISTS on downloading both the HD and SD versions of every episode. And even if I pause and delete the SD downloads, as soon as I buy a new program iTunes starts downloading ALL SD versions of every show that exists on my hard drive. So at this point it means I have to go in an pause/delete dozens and dozens of SD downloads of shows that I have already watched!
How can I tell iTunes to ONLY download the HD version? Help!To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.

ITunes No Longer Downloading SD Content
I'd purchased season passes for The Walking Dead and Clone Wars (both HD season passes).
Up until recently, I'd been downloading both the SD and HD versions (which is what I want). Now, iTunes has stopped downloading the SD versions and is only giving me the HD versions.
...how can I get the SD versions (I like to put them onto my iPod touch from time to time). Thanks.Ahhhh! I'd looked there this morning, finally found that you have to click on 'Not on this Computer'. THERE they are!
EDIT: Yeah, I missed the other thread. I did an extensive search for SD content not downloading all over the place (not just these forums) this morning. The only thing I could find was a thread on the MacRumors forums. -
Why does iTunes insist on downloading TV show?
Hi,
With our Apple TV device we purchased a season of the Big Bang,
Can someone explain to me why iTunes insist on downloading every new episode to my MacBookAir while all we want to do is watch it with Apple TV directly from iTunes?
It's annoying, takes up HUGE amounts of time and space. I've looked everywhere for a way to cancelt eh downloads to my MacBookAir but can not find it. Is there a way to turn this off?
Thanks in advance.
ChristineBummer ;-(
I have downloaded each and everyone because as you state the queue gets bigger and bigger. But I so hoped there would be a way to opt out of the download. Do not see the use for that mandatory download.
It's okay when we're at home but we tend to be on the road with our RV a lot. WiFi in RV parks are kind of flaky and often remind me of the 56k modem times. Dealing with these weekly downloads is just a hassle.
Thanks for your reply!

ITunes is not downloading more than one Podcast at a time.
Since two updates ago, when I select multiple podcasts and update them to download the latest episodes, iTunes will only download one at a time. It will show multiple in the "Downloads" window, but it will only actually download them one at a time. The "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box is checked, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
Anomander Rake wrote:
If the box is checked, what happens is it will show 3 podcasts have started (by showing the progress bar), however only the first one actually downloads anything. Once it finishes, the second podcast will start actually downloading (and one new one will show that the download progress bar, tho it remains empty until its the "top" podcast. Like it doesnt do anything until everything above it has already finished.
That sounds like a classic case of the Podcast provider limiting the number of simultaneous downloads to one only. As I asked the original poster; are these Podcasts from the same programme, or even from the same radio station network?
Anomander Rake wrote:
And thats annoying enough, but sorta often... if the first podcast takes too long the lower podcasts that have shown the progress bar but not actually started downloading yet will time out and not download until I tell it to try again.
Again, classic symptoms of a Podcast provider limiting the number of simultaneous downnloads. Although this isn't proof, that it's the provider, the question needs to be asked.
I find it extrememly unlikely that cmhogan's suggestion would give you any different results, because the request is simply made in a different way, the queue is the same.
