ITunes having iPod touch and iPhone confusion.

My 32GB 3rd generation ipod touch has gone permanently black after a couple of weeks of playing up. I have tried to reset it by holding home and sleep with absolutely no response.
When I connect it to my mac through iTunes a info box pops up stating "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." Keeping in mind that I have an iPod touch not a iPhone I go to restore it anyway and it then states "Software for this iPhone is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again." I've tried connecting it to other computers including microsoft, all with the current version of itunes with the same outcome.
I have the latest version of iTunes so I'm utterly stuck so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try placing the iPod in DFU mode and then restore.

What happens when you have and an iPod and an iPhone? Can you sync both (separately of course), and what happens to the items that are purchased from the Apple store? Can I place these items on both my devices?

Yes, and yes. I have both and have no problems. I sync by using selected playlists and have some of the same playlists and some different playlists on each device. Apps will sync to both.

Both, iPod Touch and iPhone 3G don't show up on my macbook and do not get recognized as a device by iTunes. I switched cables, restarted macbook (and the other devices) and did an iTunes update. Still nada, niente, rien, nichts and nothing... any guidance or help? appreciate it, thanks

I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my computer that just bit the dust...If I don't replace the computer, can I still add stuff to these two devices?

I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my PC and basically managed my photos and music, etc. from there. However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually. Can I still add stuff onto my two devices? And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only? Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices? Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

Music imported from a CD or another source
iTunes cannot transfer this media back to a computer. Make sure to back up your iTunes Library, or you can use iTunes Match2.

Since latest update, Sound Check on Ipod touch and Iphone doesn't work.

My playlists have always played at an even volume before Sunday's software updates to Itunes, Ipod touch, and Iphone. Now my playlist volumes are all over the map. I teach a fitness class in a large room to 70 people, and this is ruining it!! Apple support on the phone told me it should work. Yes, it did work until the update, and I didn't change anything until I noticed it wasn't working anymore.
Now I have uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes, restored my Ipod Touch as a new Ipod, and even deleted and reloaded my music. Still not working!!!

Just a stab in the dark, but check:
Settings -> WiFi -> (your WiFi network) -> HTTP Proxy
Set the Proxy to Auto and see if that helps.

Same application on both ipod touch and iphone

Is it possible that you're not supposed to be able to use the same Free Application (in this case New York Times) on both iPod Touch and iPhone 3G? I seem to be able to access NYT on my iPod but not on my iPhone.

I'm still puzzled. I am logged in to the same iTunes account.
And both my iPod Touch and iPhone are said to be properly synced. Both of them have five different applications that I really like (New York Times, Wunder Radio, etc.). These applications all appear on my Home Page of both iPod Touch and iPhone but they only work on the iPod Touch.
I can't figure it out.
The only clue I have to offer is that a couple of times the applications will work if the iPhone is miles away from my computer and my iPod Touch. Could that mean something?

IPod Touch (and iPhone) can't find Belkin N Wireless Router

I spent over an hour looking for an answer to this problem today and accidently found a solution - so am posting the answer.
Have a 2 year old Belkin N Wireless Router (model F5D8236-4v1) with SSID broadcasting on and WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK) security selected.
All the Windows laptops in the house could see the wireless SSID and could successfully log in after entering the WPA/WPA2 password.
Both iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS could NOT see the SSID. Also entering the wireless router IP address directly instead of the SSID did NOT work.
After an hour of looking for solutions on-line, including:
- Tried no security
- Tried WEP 64 and 128 bit security
then stumbled across a thread in a forum where someone referred to changing a "-" (dash) in an SSID name to a character. So tried this.
The old SSID name includes spaces - "name name1 name2". I deleted the spaces, and the problem was solved.
This Belkin router comes with a default name of BelkinN_WirelessXXXXXX, but does not say in the online help to NOT use spaces in the SSID name. And again, the Windows laptops could see the wireless Router while it had the SSID name INCLUDING the spaces in the name.
Hope this saves at least one person going through the same wasted hour.

Click on the blue arrow to the right of the network name, if IP address starts with "169." ,restart your router. It should connect properly after your router reboots in a minute or two.

It won't be a problem. You can use an 'unlimited' number of devices (iPods, iPhones etc) on a single iTunes account.
I rushed off to O2 on Friday after work and got myself an iPhone.
I backed up the iPod touch first (which was running 3.0 by that time) and then activated the iPhone using the iPod touch backup. Pretty much everything synced across exactly as it was on the touch (i.e. all Apps and paid apps), notes etc. One app I had never got to run on the iPod (iOSMaps) suddenly appeared on the iPhone too. Much like when you get a new Mac you find that all your settings and windows are preserved. When I opened Safari on the iPhone the last two pages I'd been looking at on the iPod were open. The only things that didn't sync were my emails - which of course downloaded shortly after the account details were synced (this is as expected), the iPhone suddenly being named 'iPod touch', my home WiFi password didn't sync and my email signature (not surprisingly still read - Sent from my iPod touch'.)

Is there any reason I would have a problem syncing both my ipod touch and a new iphone on the same computer? I want to have all of my music on both. My iphone arrives today and wanted to avoid any major issues.

Normally I would recommend this...
Plug in the iPod, uncheck the box to show artwork on the iPod then sync the iPod (all artwork will be removed from the iPod).
When it is done, reselect that check box and sync the iPod again (all artwork added to iPod).
This often times clears up display issue with artwork on the iPod.
However, I don't think you get the show artwork option for the iPhone, correct?

How can I share address books between Mac's and ipod touch and iphone

I try to share some of the address books with my family on our Macbooks, ipod touch and ihopnes.
Similar as with iCal via the cloud.
Is this possible ?

Itunes won't recognize my ipod. It recognizes my ipod touch and iphone 5. I have reset it, tried the other USB port, updated everything, and restarted my imac. Any suggestions? I'm going imad!

I also continue to get the "not supported by fire wire" message too.

I recently purchased an iPhone 4S. I also have a 1st gen iPOD touch. I am concerned that t the new version of iTunes will not support the touch. Is there a version of iTunes that supports both?

The latest version of itunes supports all ipods/iphones/ipads.

when i connect my iphone 4 and my ipod touch 4th generation to itunes it keeps coming back with error 1150 unknown error and it will not sync, can someone please tell me how to fix it.
