ITunes HD Movies

Ok, I just purchased iTunes HD movie: Quantum of Solace just to see how it looks. Once I started to download the file, it downloaded both HD and the standard movie. Does it do this for all of the HD films? I am using a laptop and don't have 5GB of hard drive space to burn on each HD movie. I am assuming it does this because iPhone and iPod's don't support HD.

Hey there,
Yes, each HD movie download will come with each version as you mentioned with one of those being the iPod/iPhone compatible one. You can simply delete the standard version if you don't want it. Hope this helps.

You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

    Hello ryane84
The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

  • Can I use LaCie Multimedia disk to see in TV, iTunes purchased movies?

Can I use LaCie Multimedia disk to see iTunes purchased movies in TV?
I share files from iTunes in my local network by authorising 3 computers, but none of these have HDMI connection to TV.
Can I use LaCie multimedia hard disk to store de movies from iTunes and connect then the Lacie disck to TV via HDMI?
Once I did it by simply copying an .m4v movie with no result. Also I think some downloaded file from iTunes blocket the HDMI conection to TV.
Any suggestio or experience...? I know that Apple TV is one solution but I don't want a new artephact and more HDMI connections. (BlueRay, TDT, iPlus etc.)
    Thanks in advance.....

I have the same problem on my Toshiba TV. Cyrillic subtitles cannot be shown properly. Even symbols like ?, ?, or cannot be shown properly.
Until now I didnt found solution to this. Reading some other forums other people have described the same problem for Spanish language ( ).
Firmware is installed to the latest version but problem is still there.
By the way: can you please test this method and let me know if this works for you.

  • How do you move or can I move Itune folders (Movies), (TV Shows) and (Home Videos) to other internal hard drives (running out of space) on my computer's main hard drive and have Itunes recongize where they are?

I built my own computer which has 4 internal hard drives with 3 internal hard drives that are 3tb.  With my movies and tv shows, I need to know if I can move the Itunes folders (Movies, TV shows and Home Video's) and move each one of them to 3 seperate internal hard drives while Itunes can still find them to play with my apple tv.  Does anyone know how I can do it?

While you can do that, it is not a feature of iTunes.  Put your movies on the external drive, then add them to iTunes by dragging the files to iTunes while holding the option (alt) key down so it leaves the files where they are located.  There are other ways to move them if they are already added but they can be more involved and tricky.  If it's just one or two try:  http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=relocateselected

  • Can I watch iTunes-purchased movies from an Airport Extreme USB disk?

With the newest Airport firmware (7.6.1), it seems I should be able to do this.
My scenario is so basic, I can't understand why I'm having trouble achieving this.
    - I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.2 - since it's a laptop, I don't want to leave it on all the time.
    - I have an AirPort Extreme with a USB disk on it (that I use for backing up my MacBook), recently upgraded to newest firmware 7.6.1.
    - I have a recently purchased Apple TV hard-wired to the AirPort running firmware 4.4.4.
    - I have purchased movies though iTunes on the MacBook Pro.
I want to watch my iTunes-purchased movies on my Apple TV even when my MacBook Pro is sleeping. That is, I would like the movies to be accessible via iCloud, or stored on the USB disk connected to AirPort Extreme, or something/anything.
It seems obvious to me that with an all-Apple set up, and iCloud, this should be easy to achieve.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    j

  • ITunes purchased movies do not run on macbook pro retina display - Error message: HDCP not supported.

    Hello community,
If i try to play a iTunes purchased movie on may Macbook Pro 15 Retina, a Error message comes up "HDCP not supported". I try to run it on the notebook screen, I have not plugged in any external device (monitor, beamer..).
    Full Error message in german:
Der gewählte Film kann auf dem angeschlossenen Bildschirm nicht wiedergegeben werden.
Dieser Film kann nur auf Bildschirmen wiedergegeben werden, die HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) unterstützen.
    Any ideas?

I had this same problem.  What worked for me- not sure which one did it, but I went to System Preferences-Displays, and I turned off "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" and I also changed my resolution from "Best for retina display" to scaled "More Space".  The other scaling options seemed to do similar.

  • Question about iTunes HD movies

I was looking into some of iTunes HD movies that are available for purchase when I noticed something... It says that these movies would be compatible with an Apple TV or Mac, or PC. Now I know this doesn't necessarily mean these will be full HD (1080p), but it would make sense if they were.
I've attempted to play a some 900p and 1080p videos on my Pad and it straight up refuses them. Is it at all possible for me to buy an HD movie off of iTunes, only to have it not work because the resolution is too high for my Pad? Can iTunes know which device I plan on using the movie on before I purchase it? Or will he provide me with multiple vid-files, one for each resolution of iPod, iPad, and computer?
Also I noticed that the "iTunes Extras" are only available on a Mac or PC with iTunes 9 or later. This means the iPad can play the movie itself, nothing else like commentaries or "the making of", correct?

No the problem with your AVI is the codec it uses not the video dimensions. The other day I needed to view an h.264 1080p 15MBps with a 4.0 profile on the iPad. GoodReader played the file just fine. If I'm only going to view a video on the iPad that exceeds the iPad specs but it can be played in a third party app, why spend the time to re-encode to the iPad specs. Re-encoding a video not only waste time but the video suffers in lost of quality during the encoding. Besides I'm not using the iPad for video storage. I'm using it to play videos.

  • ITunes library movies on tv?

I have an external harddrive with my entire collection of dvds ripped onto it. The amount of movies exceeds what my Macbook could hold (memory wise) so this harddrive functions as my itunes library. It is then plugged into a time machine and broadcast through a wifi network in my house that lets me access my itunes library, from my laptop, anywhere.
What I wanna know, is if I get an apple TV, is it possible to view all the movies I own on my harddrive (as I would in grid view in Itunes) on my TV, and scroll through them with a remote, if I connect the apple tv to my wifi network? Same thing goes for my tv shows?
    Thanks.

    Okay.
So Christmas time comes and goes, I get a brand new, shiny, apple tv under the tree. I rush home in a fit of excitment and plug my apple tv into my tv and my wifi network. From there, I can watch my 300+ movies on my tv? Like, from what you said there seems to be an intermediary? But if the apple tv connects to the itunes library there isn't the need for an intermediary?
Clearly I'm confused. But it would be great if you could let, describe exactly how this would work?
All I want to be able to do is watch my itunes library movies stored on an external harddrive and broadcast over a wifi network (via time capsule) on my tv....

  • What audio format encoded into iTunes HD Movies and TV shows?

What audio format encoded into iTunes HD Movies and TV shows, AC3, 5.1 DolbyDigital? Its been a long long while since I rented an HD movie on ATV since netflix came around with streaming and BD. Now they have rentals and purchases. Anyone know if the purchases play with 5.1 or better audio?

I think if you pull up the movie in the iTunes store it should tell you. For example, I pulled up the Star Trek movie that came out a few months ago, and it reports "Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound". Clearly you need to make sure that your hardware supports whatever sound configuration the movie employs.
