Itunes help for Windows (Quicktime 7.1.3)

Hey all! I have been using iTunes for a while and have collected a big collection over the years.... When i was asked to download the new version of iTunes (Not 7 i think but a newer one) i acepted as i usually so. The installation did what it needed to do and i rebooted. When i went to play iTunes it told me i had an older version of Quicktime and i needed to update. I went to the iTunes website to see what i could do, found Quicktime (standalone) and downloaded it. Of course, it still dosent work . Does anyone have any ideas or has gone through the same thing? Thanks so much for any help!
By the way I'm not that great with computer talk so if you guys can dum it down for me that would be great

okay ... with the bug fixes in itunes 7.0.1.8, your installer may be interpreting the version of QuickTime 7.1.3 that came with that as a newer version than the standalone QT 7.1.3 (hence the message you're getting with the standalone QT installer.)
let's try an alternate technique to get a new quicktime in your PC.
go to your Add/Remove programs, select QuickTime, and select "remove".
then manually clear away any leftover QuickTime program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
now we'll do a repair install of itunes. go back to Add/Remove programs. select itunes, and click "change". select "repair".
the repair install of itunes should reinstall the correct version of QuickTime. restart the PC, and try launching itunes again. do you still get the message about QuickTime?
