Itunes high memory and slow closing?
My itunes for some reason is using very large amounts of memory on my computer(sometimes up to 100mb+) and whenever i close itunes after using it, it takes about 1 minutes for it to actually close in my running processes, and lags my whole computer like its frozen until it completety shuts down itunes.exe.
What is causing this?
Any way to fix it?
Do you have 'Sound Check' ticked in iTunes Preference's Playback tab? That option operates in the background while iTunes is opened, and can cause a serious hit on your memory.

"Installer" using up all my memory and slowing macbook down
"Installer" seems to take up all my memory and slow my macbook right down, anyone know a solution?
Also the "18.68MB" is from the memory clean app showing how much ram is free, Installer seems to just eat it upThere is some adware called Genieo that often comes packaged in installers named "Installer." If you have installed that, you need to force the installer to quit, delete the installer and then follow the Genieo removal instructions here:
http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/
I would also note that I see µTorrent in your Activity Monitor. Be aware that downloading illegal material through torrents (or other means) is very dangerous behavior, and there has been a significant upsurge recently in adware infections coming through such files. Even a few malware infections as well. Do not download such things. -
How to get alert for app server that experienced high memory and CPU utiliz
Hi
How to get alerts configured and turned u201Conu201D for the app server that experienced high memory and CPU utilization?
And let me know where we can check this?
Regards,
Nenihi,
Have you configured a Central Monitoring System (CEN)? This includes registering the agent on the CEN, starting it and configuring the Central Auto Reactions on CEN using RZ21 transaction.

Flash Player 17.0.0.134 High Memory and CPU
Hi,
I can't find any information, or solutions to this. Ever since Flash updated to the 17.0.0.134 version, it is using a ton of memory, and high cpu. I have everything updated(windows,browsers,plug-in's,video..etc) I am on Windows 8.1 using Firefox 36.0.4(up-dated yesterday from .0.3), and it continues to sky rocket, and then everything slows down, and will tell me the shockwave plugin has crashed, and I need to close it out. Additionally, I keep getting messages from my Norton about the high disk usage from flash player:( PLEASE..can someone help me, or at least tell that other people are having the same problem.
Thanks so much!Thanks Jeromie,
I have tested this on multiple PCs and have still found the same performance drop. My graphics card on my home PC is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti, using the latest drivers (updated less than a month ago). I would be quite surprised if it has somehow become blacklisted and switched to software mode. Although with the performance I'm getting it feels like this may be what is happening.
Here's the output from my dxdiag:

Itunes,Mail, Safari,AND Firefox closing!
Hello there. This has been happening the past two days. When I use safari, text will be garbled, letters missing in the headers, and all the text pushed to the left.
When I try to go to certain sites like wikipedia, safari and firefow will close and Ill get the pop ups saying "blah blah program has closed unexpectedly"[...] .
When I try to connect to the itunes music store, itunes will fail and when I try and view my mail from the mail app, that will close as well.
This seems all tied into the internet so is there anything I can do?To Apple Discussions!

Windows 8.1 laptop running slow, high memory and disk utilization
When I restart my laptop its memory utilization is around 50%. If I run several programs(may be 2 or 3) like Internet browser and IDE like Netbeans my pc become very slow.
When I was working in my other laptop which runs Windows 7(with 4GB RAM) I never had such issue (I normally open heavy weight application simultaneously without any issue).
But right now I am unable to my work on my new laptop with Windows 8.1. Most of the time its Disk usage also become 100%.
My RAM is 4GB, Processor Intel Core i5 2.60GHz
I am a software developer and I have to meat the deadlines, but as for my slow pc lot of time wasting happening everyday. I don't want to study about how windows 8.1 work or investigating its issues everyday, instead just want to use it for my software development
purposes.
I went through some other questions in this forum, but those are not clear enough for me. I tried to connect online chat with ask desk, but no lick(always display there busy right now with other customers, I don't prefer phone calls)
So please help.Chitrangi
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4847.install-the-windows-performance-toolkit-wpt.aspx ,
open a CMD prompt with administrative rights (right click it>run as admin) and run this command for 60 secs to capture the high HD usage:
xperf -on PROC_THREAD+LOADER+CSWITCH+FILENAME+FILE_IO+FILE_IO_INIT+DISK_IO+DISK_IO_INIT+DRIVERS+PROFILE -f kernel.etl -stackwalk Profile+CSwitch+DiskReadInit+DiskWriteInit+DiskFlushInit+FileCreate+FileCleanup+FileClose+FileRead+FileWrite -BufferSize 1024 -MaxBuffers 1024 -MaxFile 1024 -FileMode Circular && timeout -1 && xperf -d XperfSlowIOcir.etl*
When finished zip the trace and upload it to skydrive or another file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post. -
You may want to know that this is a desktop with a Vista operating system.
That's supposed to indicate it's your plug-ins like Flash that is the problem.
You might try changing hardware acceleration, a setting within Flash either turn if off or on. -
ITunes sounds scratchy and slow
When I play songs in iTunes, they sound scratchy and have pops in them. At about 8-10 seconds in, it really slows down for a second or two and then seems to free up a bit, but not without the scratching and pops.
I have iTunes 7.0.1.8 running on Windows XP. I have searched through the forums and tried all the suggestions I have seen about the QuickTime preferences, updating DirectX, etc. Nothing seems to help 100%. Any ideas????
eta - It gets worse when the CPU seems to be running at high capacity - (like opening an app or ie or something).Bump - Anyone out there experienced the same thing???

My mac mini is slow, is it because of low memory?
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?

Shoot in high speed and slow down in FCP
Hi All
I’m planning to shoot footage HD that I would like to slow down almost 20% but I’ll rather avoid the jitter that usually shows on the video. I understood that I have to shoot in high speed. Do you have any suggestion of how to do this…
I was thinking to change the shutter speed of my camera but I’m not sure how much I have to change it.
I’m shooting with a Sony FX1
Best and thank you for the help
LinaTo shoot at a 'high speed', you need a camera such as the Varicam that will record at higher frame rate than 30fps. I believe the HVX-200 will allow you to overcrank things a bit (60p).
Otherwise, something like Shake will do a much better job slowing footage than FCP.
Good luck. -
ITunes "eats" memory and closes down after 4 hours use
iTunes plays alright about 4 hours, then it closes down and need a restart.
I have watched iStat and notice that free memory shrinks as iTunes plays.
It seems like iTunes is building up a buffer/file and when this file is bigger then the memory can hold - it crashes?
Do anyone know what this problem is and medicine? The problem dissappeared with last update,
iTunes/Quicktime. -
High Packet Loss, High Ping and Slow Connection Ov...
Hi There,
I have been a customer with the BT unlimited broadband package for a little under two years and up until recently have had no real issues with the service. This was until around 3/4 weeks ago I noticed that the internet was very slow and certain online games or applications like Netflix would lose all of its quality or stop completely. At first I thought nothing of it and simply reset my BT Home hub router, and sure enough everything was back to normal. However after around 2-3 hours of moderate use (gaming online or watching Netflix) the problem surfaced again.
Now I am lucky if I can get the entire way through a 40 minute TV episode before the quality drops and/or the service requires buffering. I have already contacted BT via the helpline and the service lady ran through the obligatory steps (turn off, wait 5 minutes, reset the home hub etc.) but she failed to understand that although rebooting the home hub does alleviate the problem initially, the symptoms of a slow connection, high packet loss and high ping always return within an hour.
Four the last couple of weeks I have been trying to investigate the problem myself and I have done the following things:
Tested the line using the master socket (no difference)
Opened the ports on my firewall within the home hub (no difference)
Directly wired in the computer instead of relying on the wifi (no difference)
Tested for interference from neighbours wifi using inSSIDider office (it wasn’t, operating on different channels)
Switched every device that requires internet off apart from the PC (no difference)
So with all that in mind I am fairly confident that it is nothing within my house that has caused a significant reduction in internet quality.
Now I have tried my best to display the problem I am having by recording the connection quality for the last 24 hours. The table below represents the condition and quality of the connection after leaving it a period of time without resetting:
ADSL Line Status

And here is a result of the ping and packet loss during this time:
Now I immediately reset the home hub after running that test and ran the test again. These are the results I a achieved within 2 minutes of internet connectivity:

I have also checked if the bell wire was attached and it is not. My socket is of the new type with the inclusion of an inductor on the faceplate. My ADSL filters and modem cable already have the middle connecting pins removed so I don’t think it is a wiring problem, at least in my apartment anyway. I have also searched for problems with the exchange and they are showing green for my area. (Liverpool Central)
I have just rang the quiet line and I do not appear to have any noise on the line. However, all I have is a cordless phone and I know that is not ideal for determining noise due to the radio frequency interfering with the phone speaker.
Again thank you for you time on this issue.

Itunes exhausts memory and hangs during gapless analysis
Symptom: Memory exhaustion leading to application hang
Impact: Itunes unusable -- hangs 2-3 minutes after launch while "determining gapless playback"
Perfmon shows itunes consuming >= 2G or RAM when it stops responding
Itunes: 9.2.1.5
System: fully patched W7, running on core5 with 3G of RAM, 2T of free disk, single user. No other apps running
Itunes diagnostics: pass with no issues ID'd
Fresh install of itunes does not solve problem
Recreation of library from scratch does not solve problem.
No particular songs/albums cause the problem.
Appears to be tied to size of library (~10K songs)
Can I cap the amount of memory itunes uses (to force a write to disk)?
Can I disable gapless scan?
Can I access additional debug info?
Does the application really require >200K per song to do this analysis????Sounds like this probably isn't related to your issue, but I had the exact same symptoms as you (iTunes rapidly increases memory usage until it eventually fails) I was also getting "The iTunes library cannot be saved. There is not enough memory." after it hogged all available memory (usually after it got to 1.2GB or so).
I'll post my resolution in case anyone else comes across this.
I was able to track my issue down to what appeared to be corrupt album art (!!). I first noticed that the issue would only occur when I viewed a playlist that had some new songs added to it. I noticed that some of the album art, from the "Get Info -> Artwork Tab" view appeared as nothing but a tiny black square.
I selected all in the playlist, did a "Get Info" on all the files, and then checked the Artwork box and left it blank (essentially clearing all artwork from all files in the playlist).
After that, I'm no longer having the issue, and iTunes is sitting around 70MB of memory usage.

Downloaded 10.5 iTunes and when I put in an audio book to import into iTunes as soon as I begin typing book info notice appears that iTunes has stopped working and windows 7 closes iTunes. Anyone else have this problem? I hate that you have no way to contact these people and report problems. I tried the old feedback but that didn't get anywhere. Please, I've got several audio books to load and I'm not getting anywhere. Thanks
You really need to put your codes between the
[\code] tags
see http://forum.java.sun.com/features.jsp#Formatting
for more infoCode tags might make it look a little better, but there's still too darn much code. We're volunteers, after all. It'd be a lot of work to review all of this stuff. Can you demonstrate your problem with something smaller? Learn out how to do a combo box with just a page or two and then appy that to your big problem. That's how I'd do it. - MOD
