Peabody, for me, Adapter is the ticket, and a free one at that. Quick, easy to use, nice interface and very flexible in terms of formats, destinations, etc. Also converts video. Been using it for a month and love it.

  • I know how to convert WMA to AAC/MP3 for Itunes

I'm not sure if someone else has figured this out or not, but I figured out how to convert WMA files to AAC or MP3 for Itunes. First open the file using Quicktime. I think you need the Flip4Mac program. I'm not sure and you also need Quicktime pro. Choose Save. Select standalone movie. Choose location. It will convert song to movie, then import all your movies you selected. Organize Itunes by "Kind". Select all of your new movies files. Choose Advanced and convert to your appropriate file type.
I looked for a while and couldn't find a good way to change wma to aac. This takes a little bit, but it works. What do you think? It works for me.

Or, as has been pointed out in numerous posts, you can use EasyWMA.

  • Converting WMA to ACC

I recently moved from PC to Mac, and I have about 5GB of files that I am unable to add to itunes or sync to my ipod. This is because they are all in WMA format, and I have no idea how to convert them to ACC or MP3. I see the "convert selections to ACC" option in itunes, but itunes wont let me add them to the library to convert the files. Any help?

Is this on your mac or PC. If you are talking about your mac, you will have to seek out a third party solution. WMA converting is a PC only feature.

  • For iTunes experts! - My iTunes has been converting WMA files for 11 days!

My question is: If I exit iTunes (i.e. Reboot my computer) and then go back to iTunes, will iTunes continue finishing the conversion process?
My iTunes has been converting WMA files for 11 days now..
It's converting my entire multi-thousand album collection from windows media player into iTunes.
Will it start where it left off?
Or, the dreaded, will it start all over again, causing thousands of duplicates in my new iTunes library?
The ONLY status bar shows the current song, I have no idea which order it's going in or how much longer it has to go.
I understood it would take a long time to convert the thousands of WMA files into iTunes format, but I have no way to know how much longer it will take, or if it's interupted what will happen!
    Thanks -

Understood. If I quit iTunes before it's done converting the files I had previously selected, it will not continue to convert the WMA's to iTunes format. I will have to re-select the songs I want converted.
Now: What if I select the entire folder (containing all songs, some already converted into iTunes, others not yet converted) - will iTunes RE-Convert songs that it has already converted (therefore creating duplicates in my library)? Or is the software able to recognize that an identical entry is already in its library index?

  • How to convert wma in iTunes for MAC to mp3

The iTunes support manual mysteriously indicates that iTunes for MAC can convert WMA files to other formats, but doesn't tell me how! How do I convert the WMA files to mp3? When I google, I keep getting links to other sites and I'm not sure how to pick a trusted site.
    iTunes 11 for Mac: WMA
Windows Media Audio; a digital audio file format created by Microsoft. iTunes can convert WMA files to other formats.

How can i fix that because i do have a lot of albums and i would like to convert them all and make sure that all song are in the album were it should belong ?
    Thank in Advance.
    Yan.

Filling in the Album Artist will fix things most of the time, though if you also have an older iPod then you might find the album splits up again on your device. For more information see my article on Grouping tracks into albums.

  • How to convert WMA files (from Windows Media Player) to play in iTunes

How do I convert WMA files (from Windows Media Player) to now play in iTunes?

Use Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings to set your desired import format and bitrate. Note there is no point converting 128k wma into 320k mp3, you'll just get bigger files with no improvement in quality. Once you have set your import settings just drag & drop the files you want converted into iTunes.

  • How to convert wma files for iTunes

I will appreciate any help from anyone who shows me how to play wma audio files in Itunes. I do not want to use an outside non-Apple  audio video converter. The quick time program plays the audio file but I do not know how to bring it in the Itunes Library.
    Thank you

    Converting WMA Files
In iTunes for Windows, you can convert your unprotected WMA files to AAC files (or whatever file format is chosen in the Importing pane of iTunes Preferences) without changing the original WMA file. Simply drag the WMA files into your library in iTunes and iTunes does the grunt work, converting them for you. Windows Media Player 9 or later must be installed to convert unprotected WMA files. Protected WMA files cannot be converted.

  • How do i convert wma to acc on mac?

I have a file from my old HP  PC with all of my music in it.  I need to convert it from wma to acc format.  Which free application works best?

The free program is iTunes. Click iTunes/Preferences/General, and here you'll find Import settings, which you can set for ACC. Once done, from the main iTunes menu, click, File/Add to Library.

drag converted mp3 files to i-tunes and then i can burn cds is that correct??

Correct. Dragging the MP3s into iTunes adds them to your iTunes library. Once they are in your library, you can add them to a playlist. When you have your playlist in the right sequence, click on File > Burn Playlist to Disc.

  • ITunes won't convert .wma

For as long as I can remember, my iTunes will not accept .wma files (they are not digitally copy protected) into the Library to convert. Perhaps one of my setting is wrong in Preferences, but does anyone have any help? I cannot even drag the files into iTunes...
    Thanks!!

Sounds like a plan. You probably know that transcoding the files (if they're not WMA lossless files) to another lossy format will result in audible degradation. If you want to preserve 100% of the sound quality, you could convert the files with iTunes for Windows using Apple Lossless. The files will probably be many times larger as a result, but the sound quality will be the same.
Ever since iTunes for Windows was introduced, many "switchers" have complained about the WMA conversion feature not being included in iTunes for Mac. But, it must be understood that Mac users don't encode their music in WMA format, so there really is no need for this feature. Since switchers, in most cases, still have a PC at the time they get their first Mac, the thing to do is to convert the songs in iTunes for Windows before "moving to a Mac."
Editorial comment: The way I see it, the WMA conversion feature in iTunes for Windows is a quick fix for people who don't want to take the time to rip their CDs all over again, even though they would get better results if they did.

  • Convert wma to acc?

    Hi.
I have a few songs purchased in wma format through windows media player.
Just came to the conclusion that iTunes has by far a much wider catalogue and started buying music there.
Now I would like to import the wma files into iTunes. How can I do this?
    Thanks for your help.

I don't know of any other way...it is the same thing for Apple-protected songs, if you want to play them in WMP.
You have to burn them as an audio disc and re-rip them as mp3 or AAC files.
Ah, the joys of incompatible DRM formats.
You might want to buy a burner - you know you only get one download from ITMS, right? It is a good way to back up music.

  • How to convert wma to mp3 in my iMac

I AM TRYING TO CONVERT SOME MUSIC THAT IT IS IN WMA FORMAT TO MP3. DOES ANYBODY KNOWS IF I COULD DO THIS USING MY IMAC?

Take a look at this article:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Audio
In particular, towards the bottom about encoders and DRM. So, if yours is using DRM, you can't copy/convert it.
P.S. And, please, refrain from typing in all caps - that is generally considered shouting.

You did solve it or you are still neeeding to do it?
If you solved, it, please post your solution so others can see it.
    If not, do this...
    iTunes prefs > General.
    Click the Import Settings... button.
Set prefs to Apple Lossless Encoder.
Select songs, right click - Create Apple Lossless version.
Note that this creates a new copy in ALAC. The previous version is still in iTunes.
