Itunes-i want to separate my music from my child's with my own account

Initially only one child had an itouch so we set up their itunes account using the parent email address.  Now everyone is older and they all wish to have their own accounts.  Is there a way to transfer music already purchased in our "family" account to individual accounts?

On the iPod touch use the childs Apple ID for everything (iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime) except iTunes and app store.
Use your Apple ID here:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores
Use their Apple ID here:
Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve
Settings > FaceTime
Settings > iCloud
You can also use their Apple ID for iTunes & App stores so all nne purchases are on their account. The old purchases already on the device (or in iTunes on the computer they sync with) will prompt for the password to your account before they can be used.

  • Mac Book wants to clear current music from I tunes

Just bought a Mac Book and iTouch. The Touch set up on my current I Mac was seamless. When I attempt to syn music from Touch to my Mac Book, msg asks if "I want to erase all music from Touch and replace with music from this i Tunes library". Also states that more than one account is using iTunes and won't allow the music move. Calendar, contacts and bookmarks are fine. Stumped! Finally got so frustrated, moved music using a thumb drive.
Also, (different subject) can I move or sync my movies from iDVD to my Touch? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you trying to sync your music from your iPod down to your new computer? You won't be able to do that. You can only go from the computer to the iPod with the exception of music that was purchased via the iTunes Store; you can transfer that from the iPod to the computer by ctrl-clicking on the device name in iTunes and selecting "Transfer Purchases."
To transfer everything from your iPod to your new hard drive, you would need third party software. Senuti is one that I've heard recommended for Macs.
Regarding the message that more than one account is using iTunes... are you logged into iTunes with the same account that you were using on your old computer?

  • I want to bring over music from my iTunes library on iMac to an ipod touch with another apple id. please help

I want to bring over music from my iTunes library on iMac to an ipod touch with another apple id. please help. Is this possible. In former versions of itunes this was posible. I can't find the solution is iTunes 11

Perhaps those apps require a newer version of iOS than is compatible with your iPod.

  • HELP!  I got a new iPhone and want to download my music from my computer so I don't have to down load song by song on my phone.  iTunes Match won't let me copy it from my computer.  What do I do?

I have iTunes Match and it's been fine until now. I'm trying to download my music to my phone so I don't have to use the wifi to play it all the time.....but iTunes match won't let me copy from my computer without shutting it off. If I do that then turn it back on then I lose all the music anyway.
I'm so frustrated and can't download song by song to my phone.
    help.

If you mean you want to sync your music from your computer to your iPhone you need to disable iTunes Match on the iPhone. Go to Settings > Music and set to iTunes Match to OFF (not green). You may need to wait a few minutes for the change to register with iTunes. Connect the iPhone via USB/Thunderbolt and sync the music.

I think it's QuickTime player causing the problem, when I try to open it I get the windows error that an error has occured
Let's try swapping out your QuickTime again, taking a few extra explicit precautions this time.
Head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
    7. Restart your computer.
Now download and save a copy of the latest standalone QuickTime installer to your hard drive. (We'll run the install from there rather than online.)
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install. Start the install by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe.
If that install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching iTunes again. Does your iTunes launch properly now?
(If you get an error message on the QuickTime uninstall or standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. Include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Itunes is copying/converting 500gb of music from .wma to .m4a files that are on an external drive onto my laptop which doesnt have enough room. how do i reroute these newly converted files somewhere with enough space for them?

itunes is copying/converting 500gb of music from .wma to .m4a files that are on an external drive onto my laptop which doesnt have enough room. how do i reroute these newly converted files somewhere with enough space for them?
new to itunes, used windows media player before that and always ripped music directly to an external hardrive and accessed it through the player. now that i downloaded itunes it is taking from the external hardrive and copying a second file for each song onto my lap top hard drive which does not have the capacity for all my music. as itunes converts music files i want them saved back onto my external drive or another location i have space for rather than the lap top. how do i change the setting to move the itunes media folder to another location. assuming that hitting copy and past and dropping it in a random location will cause a few errors.

When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

  • How do I separate my music from my husbands to just go on my ipod shuffle?I know I need to manually pull the songs over...please help I need step by step instructions

Need step by step instructions on how to separate my music from my husbands that I purchased on Itunes.I know my account is listed to set up manually...I just forget how to do it.I know I need to drag each song over right???Please advise

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer. iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Hi i want to upload my music from my i-phone to i-tunes so i can then transfer to my new samsung phone. However my i-tunes is linked to another computer which i no longer have. PLEASE HELP!!!

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • I keep all of my music on my iPod Classic. I inadvertently changed the sync setting on my iPhone 5 to sync the music with my phone. I am overcapacity and want to remove the music from my phone. How do I do that?

I keep all of my music on my iPod Classic. In error, I changed the sync setting on my iPhone 5 to sync the music with my phone. I am overcapacity on my phone and don't want any music on my phone so I want to remove the music from my phone without disturbing my iTune music files on my PC and iPod. How do I do that?

On your phone: Settings>General>Usage>Music...tap the Edit button...then the red minus sign. This will delete all music on your phone.
