ITunes icon and App Store missing from my MacBook Pro

Hi,
I just changed my MacBook Pro hard drive but I now have a problem with iTunes and the App Store.
iTunes is opening and working correctly but the icon for it is a notepad with a pen. I tried to download the new version and install it but it is still the same.
The App Store has a question mark as an icon and doesn't open at all. When I clic on it, the icon is not even bouncing.
Please help me resolve this problem.
Thanks
Julie

this might or might not work for you...i had something similar happened to me once when my icons and apps got switched around word became excel and excel became itunes.....etc....
what i did was verify my disk permissions - errors were found - i repaired them and when the repair was done, i restarted my macbook and everything was back to normal.
again, not sure it will work for you but it's worth a shot...
good luck - hope you get it sorted out.

  • Do i need a separate appleID and password for itunes store, icloud and app store apart from my admin login and password?

after having my mbp upgraded  with new m.lion by apple tech service i noticed that applications like iphoto, garageband and imovie are gone
researched online and was told that i had to acess the `purchase` via AppStore where it asks me to log in with Apple ID and password
i used the usual admin login and password and didnt work, also on itunes and icloud the similar case
do i need to register with a separate appleID and password for itunes store, icloud and app store apart from my admin login and password?

Just use the same Apple ID and password that you used to access this forum - that's your Apple ID.
The user name and password on your computer has nothing to do with your Apple ID.
    Good luck,

  • Some images won't load in Safari, iTunes, iBooks and App Store

Since my upgrade to Mavericks, some images on Safari, iTunes, iBooks and App Store wont load some times. I can't figure out the source of problem, but I've tested all four apps and the same problem exists across all of them; I've also tested Chrome, Firefox and Opera to see if they are suffering from the same problem, and surprisingly enough I've found that they are not; They load images perfectly well, and I've never encountered one to not load images. I'm totally confused and frustrated, what is preventing Apple products to load images? Here are some screenshots:

Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items.  Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.

FaceTime is included in Lion. The App Store version is for 10.6. If you deleted it, restore it from a backup, or reinstall the Mac OS.

App Store is missing from my MacBook Pro. I've done all the necessary software updates but cannot find it in any folders, even when searching via spotlight.

Does the Apple menu have a link to the MAS? What version of Mac OS X 10.6 are you running? Is this a new MBP? If so, did you use the new MBP's update for Mac OS X 10.6.7?

Are they turned off in Settings > General > Restrictions?
IS there an Exchange profile installed on the device that restricts these features?
It is not possible to remove these items as they are a part of iOS.

    i had the same fright
The update takes a LONG time... but with the new system, you can keep using your phone during the update, so it doesnt FEEL like it is updating...
you have probably interrupted the update, just like I did
plug your phone in... "continue the update" or hit the sync button to psh it in... and leave it there
unless you have enabled sync over wifi (which still only works when you are plugged in)
just be patient... and there shouldbe a flashing "synching" symbol at the top of your phone screen

  • My 2012 Mac Mini came with a SSD and with Yosemite, can I add a SSHD and also migrate everything from a Macbook Pro that is running Lion 10.7.5?

    Hi Apple Community,
Today I received a refurbished 2012 i5 Mac Mini that I purchased via Amazon. The Mac Mini came with a 256gb Samsung SSD only installed. The Mac Mini also has 10.10.2 Yosemite.
I am planing on ordering an "OWC Data Doubler Mounting Kit" to add another drive onto the Mac Mini.
I also plan on getting a second drive which would be a 1tb SSHD Black Western Digital (16GB SSD) 2.5 SATA III (6.0GB/s) 5400RPM drive.
Now here is where I am a very confused and concerned. What I essentially want to do is use Migration Assistant to completely migrate what I have on a 2012 i7 Macbook Pro's 750gb HDD to the Mac Mini's 1tb SSHD drive. I want every file and setting to be placed on my new Mac Mini just the way it is on the Macbook Pro. The Macbook Pro is however using 10.7.5 Lion while my new Mac Mini is using 10.10.2 Yosemite.
What makes me confused is, if I migrate everything from the Macbook Pro onto the 1tb SSHD, would I still be able to benefit by having the 256gb Samsung SSD in the Mac Mini? For instance, would the Mac Mini still be able to boot up super fast and use the SSD to write and read programs very fast? Or is it because I am migrating everything from my Macbook Pro's HDD onto the Mac Mini's 1tb SSHD, my Mac Mini will not be able to use the speed benefits of the SSD?
Another concern is, will I be able to use Yosemite or will I be stuck with 10.7.5 Lion? I would only like Yosemite. I do not mine if Lion is removed from my new Mac Mini.

    UPDATE:
    Hi again,
I made more research on raid and now I am considering not to raid at all.
Raid0 seems extremely risky because I do not know how the SSD and SSHD would react together.
And Raid1 seems like it would not be able to function the way I would like to store my files. [The SSD is 256gb and SSHD is 1tb, there is no point in raid1]
I think I will just have to add the second drive and use it without raid. I will mostly save media files such as movies, pictures, and music. And for everything else, save it onto the SSD's storage.

Many programs are missing from the computer, when new user account was created the icons were question marks and failed to do anything when clicked.
There are now 5 lines going vertical across the screen, the iSight has stopped working. Many different forums have linked the lines and broken iSight toghether as a massive hardware failier due to production errors. I can't figure out why all of these apps are missing and why Software Update refuses to update them and fix the problem. i would do a factory restore if the disk wasn't lost.

Do you mean your original install disk or the Snow Leopard disk is missing?
If it's the original install disk, you can call Apple, give them your serial number, and they should be able to send you replacement disks for a nominal charge. If it's the Snow Leopard disk, you could easily buy one for $29 or less retail.
Software Update will only update apps that are already on your Mac - if they are missing, they can't be updated. I'd normally suggest that you download the 10.6.7 combo updater from the Apple download site; however, since you are having multiple problems, updating a messed up system is not a good idea. So, it would be best to get either of the disks, back up your hard drive or, at least, your important files, and then verify/repair the hard drive and reinstall.
