ITunes Icon Missing this morning!??!???!

Last night I spent hours copying/importing some cds to my Itunes. I also tried to install Quicktime, but I don't think it worked.
This morning the ITUNES icon is missing from my Desktop and I cannot find it in the recycle bin.????
If I go to Start / ITunes it says
"Itunes cannot run because some of the required files are missing. Please re-install Itunes"
Could all the music be in Quicktime?
It seems like the whole program got deleted but i didn't delete it so I am thinking it has to do with the installation of quictime.?
Ideas to find all that music?

Yep, that sounds like a broken QT.
Try installing QuickTime standalone, not regular

  • Tried to install iTunes 10.5 this morning but an error appeared saying "problem with windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." Can someone please help

I tried to install iTunes 10.5 this morning but an error appeared saying "problem with windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." Can someone please help

Firstly, are you installing iTunes for the first time or are you updating your current version of iTunes?
If you're installing iTunes for the first time have you tried redownloading the installer package? Perhaps the file you downloaded originally is corrupted...
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you've tried that, then try installing iTunes as your computer's administrator. To do this right-click the install package and choose "Run as administrator".
If you're updating iTunes to the most recent version try repairing the Apple Software Update program on your computer. It's under the add/remove programs.
    1. Open the control panel
    2. Open Add/Remove programs (called "Programs and Features" in Windows 7)
    3. Navigate to "Apple Software Update" in the list and click on it
    4. Click on "Change" then select "Repair" (or just select the repair option in Windows 7)
Once you repair this, try running iTunes and the update again.
    Fingers crossed!

  • Itunes icon missing

After downloading the latest iTunes update, the icon is now missing from my computer.

As I've seen, this bug occurs after iTunes 10.6.3, including, where also appears a new "iTunes_Leopard.icns" on the iTunes.app/contents/resources folder. Previously, there was only "iTunes.icns" on there.
I suppose that if your system runs Leopard OS, then it uses "iTunes_Leopard.icns" for the app; and if it runs Lion or newer OS, it uses "iTunes.icns". Sadly, Snow Leopard stayed in the middle.
The bug raises on Snow Leopard, where it should use "iTunes_Leopard.icns" that would work properly; but instead, uses the newer version of the icon, "iTunes.icns".
As Apple hasn't fixed this bug, not yet on 10.7, I solved it myself by going to applications folder, then secondary click on iTunes.app, click on "Show Package Contents" and going to Contents/Resources. From there, I copied both "iTunes_leopard.icns" and "iTunes.icns" to a safe place, just in case.
Again, I copied "iTunes_Leopard.icns" to another place, like desktop, and I changed its name to "iTunes.icns".Then I moved it to Resources folder, where I had to autenticate as administrator, and accepted to replace the existing "iTunes.icns"… and Voilá! I hope it works for you too.
Thanks to ChinHao, who gave me some clues for solving this.

  • ITunes icon missing from settings list

All icons except iTunes is in settings list.  It is in the dock. I am unable to buy books or apps without adding my credit card info. Have looked at numerous FAQ but haven 't found an answer.
    Thank you

You use Settings > Store . If not already logged into your account on the iPad then log into it on the right-hand side, then tap your accoun id, 'View Apple ID' and then touch the apyment information line. You can also add payment details by logging into your account in iTunes on your computer.

  • I have upgraded to iTunes 10.4 this morning, and now my iTunes toolbar no longer works. I'm running it on a windows 7 x64 machine.

After upgrading my iTunes installation to 10.4 my toolbar has stopped working completely.
The start/stop, back and forward, volume slider and restore buttons do nothing at all when clicked.
They worked perfectly before the upgrade, and I have rebooted/shutdown my machine numerious times and it still doesn't work.
    I am running Windows 7 x64 on an HP 8000 Elite (Core Duo E8500 3.16GHz with 8GB)
Any ideas, or is it a code problem???

Well everything works fine for me using 64 bit Windows 7 on a Dell XPS.
I guess you could try a repair install of iTunes to see if that helps. Try disconnecting from the Internet disabling all security software while you do the repair in case something is getting blocked.
If that doesn't work, try another account to see if the problem is account specific. If it is Try the things in the section on user specific problems in this troubleshooting article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
However the section on content specific problems is probably not relevant.

  • TS1717 Started a software update this morning which didn't work.  Now Itunes will not open at all.  I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

Started a Itunes software update this morning which didn't work.  Now Itunes will not open at all.  I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

There are a couple of options that I know of to fix the issue.
One is listed in this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/message/24606478#24606478 - and involves uninstalling iTunes and related components and then re-installing iTunes.  You will need to read the instructions in the thread to see the correct uninstall order.
Second option is use System Restore to set your system back to a date prior to the iTunes update.  I did this before finding the thread mentioned above.
Not sure exactly what the problem is but I know, after a search, that MSVCR80.dll was indeed already installed on my computer.

  • Iphone Stuck on USB Plug-- Itunes icon. Help!

I need help. My Iphone is stuck on the USB Plug-->Itunes icon, i can turn it off, but when i turn it back on it shows the apple logo, and then goes straight to the plug in to iTunes icon. This happened after i set to install the newest updated software for my iPhone, i left my computer for a few hours, figuring iTunes would automatically download and install it properly, and i come back and its stuck at the above^^.
I tried DFU mode and it doesn't seem to do anything, and i have the latest version of iTunes.
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi,
Please note: DFU mode is different than recovery mode. DFU is an even deep-level boot mode, no OS or any visual thing is loaded, so your device's screen will be black. It's not easy to guess whether it is in DFU mode or is it turned off. But don't worry. Just follow the steps I provided below and iTunes would do the rest
    To enter DFU mode:
    1) Connect your iPhone to your computer.
    2) Turn iPhone off.
    3) Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
    4) Release power but keep holding home until iTunes detect your iPhone
    5) Once iTunes detected your phone, it will display the following alert:
"iTunes has detected a phone in recovery or DFU mode and it needs to be restored."
    6) Now, just click OK and restore your phone.
PS. I'm not sure why did your phone get into Recovery Mode (the "Connect to iTunes" warning) but DFU should help.
PSS. don't leave your phone alone while you are upgrading the firmware. Just to make sure everyting is all right
